My Favorite Perfume for Fall

It is officially fall and for many, that means a fragrance change. While I am not one to specifically say, 'this is my tray of fragrances for fall,' and stay away from anything else, I do recognize that some scents work better in cooler weather. Pinrose's Campfire Rebel is one of those fragrances. This warm and woody scent opens with top notes of whiskey and a hint of raspberry. In the mid, you get burning oud wood and guiacwood. The dry down settles in with a luxe bourbon vanilla and some vetiver.

When you have kids, you have a lot of responsibilities, commitments and chores to keep on top of. One routine task that many of us complete without really putting much thought into it, however, is preparing our kids’ lunch. Prepping the lunchbox has become so routine that many of us simple pack up the same ingredients in the same way, day in and day out, in a monotonous and machine-like way. Sure, you may not have too much time to do anything fancy, but here are a few ideas that can help you to create the perfect lunchbox for your kid, ensuring they get variety and enjoy their meals as much as possible!

How to Make Friends at a New Job

This is a collaborative post. Please welcome today's contributor.

I have to admit, I have been the worst at this... I am polite to everyone, but don't let anyone get close enough to become a friend. I respectfully decline offers to go to lunch, visit homes, go to baby showers, birthday parties, weddings, etc. It's awful, I know!! And the older I get, the more I think, maybe I should start reaching out, and let others do the same. I didn't use to be so intentionally self-isolated. My mom once told me it happened when I moved up north and lived in the country. Looking back, maybe she's right (and I certainly didn't see it until she said it). I became a stay-at-home mom, lived in the country, and didn't even try to make new friends with anyone for years. And I was content, but it did change me. Where's one place there are a lot of people around daily? Work.

Making friends at a new job (or even a job you've had for awhile but you haven't been open to it) can be tough. You're meeting or socializing with new people, most of whom you are competing against for promotions and raises. It's important to make a good impression early on, but it's also essential to take the time to get to know your co-workers. Here are a few tips on how to make friends at a new job and create a positive work environment.

Four Ways To Improve Non-Alcoholic Cocktail-Making Skills At Home

This is a collaborative post. Please welcome today's contributor.

Making pretty beverages in the home is a great way of entertaining guests and a more than appropriate way to round off the working week on a Friday evening. However, not everyone has the expert skills of a bartender or mixologist.

Nevertheless, it’s something that can easily be learned, and having the right utensils needed can make all the difference when it comes to the cocktail-making at hand. Here are four ways to improve cocktail-making skills at home (I'm talking about non-alcoholic, but of course this would work for those using it too). I do love to serve or receive a pretty drink and have ever since the Shirley Temple days of my youth (does anyone remember getting those in restaurants as a kid?).

6 Things to Put in a Care Package for Your College Student

Disclosure; The following items were provided to me at a discount, or for no charge. All opinions stated, however, are genuine and my own.

Okay, school has pretty much officially started back up for everyone now, including the kiddos who have made their way to college. Getting them packed up and ready to go is a big deal, but now that they're settled, wouldn't it be nice to send over a little care package? From serious, to useful, to fun, these are all things your college student might enjoy receiving for a surprise 'thinking of you' delivery.

1). Tee Turtle makes a reversible stuffie line that is just too cute. I have the traditional octopus on my desk at school and the students just love it. I saw this one though and thought it would be perfect to send in a care package to a college student. There's something about these that is just irresistible. My blue octopus has a happy face on one side, and a frown on the other. This pumpkin version has a menacing face on one side, and a sweet one on the other. It is an axolotl, which is something I have never heard of in my life until now. Look it up; if it's new to you, maybe you'll be amazed too.

8 Compelling Reasons To Visit Washington DC

This is a collaborative post. Please welcome today's contributor.

Washington DC is a city of politicians, lobbyists, and stretched limousines, ferrying VIPs from one important location to another. It’s also the nation’s capital. Yet the city doesn’t get a lot of air time. And most travel-focused people never visit it. There are too many other things to see.

Wordless Wednesday: Old-Timers Syndrome

Ah, I don't care what anyone says, those were the days...
Things weren't perfect but we walked right into grandma and grandpa's house
(no knock or appointment needed) and they were happy to see us (every single time).
We were just as happy to see them (and we did, often)
and grandma often had something fantastic on the stove or in the oven (no holiday required). πŸ’—

Doing a Target Run for Toys

Disclosure: I was provided complimentary products or discount codes to use towards the purchase of the product(s). All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

What toy can make a 2-year-old laugh uncontrollably and still hold the attention of a teenager? That would be the Wubble. You can get it in different sizes, and you can even get one that glows in the dark. He had more fun with this than he does any other toy in the house. This child was seriously cracking up while he was playing with the Wubble, which looks like a tie-dye bubble but plays like a ball.

My Luxury Scent Fragrance Samples and Travel Sized Body Products

You can get fragrances in atomizers from My Luxury Scent, just like you can from most any other site that sells samples, and that is wonderful. The thing that makes them different, is that you can also have those scents turned into bath and body items like shampoo, hand soap, body wash and rollerball body oil. The smaller sizes are fantastic for taking on the go, bringing along on trips, and just tucking into your purse for when you want to use them.

Amouage Sunshine Woman

The name on this Amouage perfume is Sunshine, and the color is bright yellow, but don't let that fool you; this is not your typical summer scent. There is no big citrus punch here (or even a small one). Instead, when you spray this you'll be enveloped in a pleasant blonde tobacco scent with a healthy touch of apricot jam that gives you all the warm weather feels.

What it Takes to Keep Customers Satisfied

This is a collaborative post. Please welcome today's contributor.

In the customer-facing business world, nothing matters more than keeping your customers satisfied. It’s them who’ll decide the future success of your business, so keeping them happy at every stage of the process is vital. If you want to do better in that regard and change up how you deal with customers, the tips and ideas we’re going to share today will help you with that. So read on and find out more.

A Warm Welcome

If you’re selling to people in person and meeting with customers or clients face to face, it’s important to make sure that you’re always going above and beyond to give them a warm welcome. This is something that people expect these days and that’s totally reasonable. A friendly face really can go a long way when it comes to winning over customers and making sales.

Listening to Their Needs

Taking the time to really listen to the needs of your customers can really go a long way too. If your business can position itself as one that’s able to put forward ideas that directly address the needs or problems that your customer currently has, they’re immediately going to see you and your company in a much more positive and favorable light. And that can only be a good thing.

Hydrating with Electrolit while he Trains for the Big Day

My teen has try-outs for a very elite team coming up in October. Yesterday was the informational session and about 90 kids showed up (just as coach predicted would happen). Realistically, about ten of those kids are going to make the team. I surely have my fingers and toes crossed that my son is going to be one of them. He plays year-round, but he's really doubled down on training, and is in the gym or on the court most days trying to improve the skills he feels need the most work. On the weekends, he has me taking him to the outside courts. It's hot out there, so we make sure to bring along plenty of ice cold drinks. I always insist we have water, and he also likes to bring along flavored drinks. This time we brought Electrolit ZERO

Favorite Gift Idea from SportsCustomsLLC Etsy Shop

My teen swears the Evolution Game Ball from Wilson is the best one for indoor practice and game-time. We have one in the house, and when it came time to get the perfect parting gift for his basketball coach (he's aged out of the team), we found an Etsy shop that sells and PERSONALIZES the Evolution basketballs. Our coach deserves a nice gift because he's been an amazing. We've had him for a few years. He's good with the kids, extremely fair and invested in helping them develop their talent.

My favorite thing about Coach is that he makes each child feel valued and valuable. He went way above and beyond by staying after so many times to 1-V-1 my son after the group coaching sessions had ended. I've got more great videos from those impromptu sessions than I do the practices!

Coach is a natural for figuring out what each child needs on the basketball court and he meets them where they are... he doesn't try to push anything (for those who wouldn't have responded well to pushing) and he pushes just the right amount (for those who need it).

The Evolution basketballs come in different sizes so you can choose the one that best fits your needs. We always go with the 29.5" because my son is a teen now, in high school (meaning he's man-sized, lol). So, that's the size we chose for the gift as well.

Evolution feels a little softer than the average basketball, making it easier to grip. They are a little more expensive than the balls you pick up at a department store, but they last longer too, so it all evens out.

The thing I've seen with my son, is that when he takes this ball to the gym for indoor practice, or open court night, it is the ball everyone wants to use, so I think it's pretty universal that this is a great investment for your ballers. Having it personalized means there's less chance someone else is going to walk off with it too, thinking it's their own.

We had our ball personalized to honor Coach, but I liked the outcome so much, that I've already decided that at some point in the future (probably my son's birthday, or for the upcoming holidays), I will be ordering one of these with my son's name on it as well.

Honestly, I don't go to Etsy often, but now I have a new favorite shop to add to my very select list, and I know I'll be shopping there more than just this one time. Highly recommend!

Check SportsCustomsLLC out to see the many
kinds of sports items they have available for customizing!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: Liberty Beans Coffee Makes Me Happy

This is how I started my weekend two weeks ago. This is how I assumed this past weekend was going to go as well. I'd snuggle up with my cup of Liberty Beans Coffee (one of my most favorite brands) and get in a little R&R before my day got busy. That's the great thing about weekends, you can take things a little slower in the morning, enjoy your coffee instead of gulping it down... relax a bit.

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: Watching you Like a Hawk

I got a text from someone telling me this bird was in their driveway!!

This is the real photo, I just put it on a purple background.

That's crazy cool to get to see it so up close and personal.

Unfortunately, that also meant something was wrong with it.

They called the proper authorities about it, but someone with a leaf blower blew at it and it hobbled

away. No one found it after that... I hate when people are mean to animals.

Bonnie & Pop Knows that Sometimes the Treat has to be Special

Disclosure: I was provided a sample product or a discount code to use towards the purchase of one. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

It does not matter how many snacks I bring to the picnic by the beach, these are the snacks that are going to get eaten first. Kids and adults love these Bonnie & Pop Drenched Pretzel Rods. I love that you can get a full variety of coatings in your container, but what I love most, that I didn't even know would be so wonderful, is the delicious, rich layer of caramel that is between the pretzel and the chocolate on some of these treats. It makes such a big difference. It takes a decently good snack and makes it pure indulgence.

Something to do in My Free Time! brought back a bit of nostalgia for me.

My teen and I were playing board games last weekend, and when he was going through the games, he was shocked to come across playing cards. I told him we've had them forever (some of them from before he was even born). I used to put photos on everything, so we have a few decks of cards from places I traveled to even before he was born. That got me thinking that the only cards I've played with him that he might remember are Old Maid and Uno. If memory serves me correctly, we've used the regular cards to play Slap Jack or Go Fish, but he'd have been too young maybe, to recall those times. My grandma used to play EVERYTHING with me... Bingo, puzzles, board games, and cards. We'd play double solitaire sometimes, or when I was busy doing whatever kids do, she'd pick the deck up and play a game of solitaire on her own. I can still see her sitting at her dining room table playing. It's a fond memory for me. Every memory of my gram is a fond memory.

So, when I coincidentally came across the next day, I decided to take a little time out to play. It was nice to just sit down and do nothing that had a deadline, for a bit of time. It's free to play and there are a ton of other games you can select too.

4 Troubles With Traveling And How To Manage Them

This is a collaborative post. Please welcome today's contributor.

There are lots of different types of troubles that you can encounter when traveling. Let’s look at some of the key examples and discover the best way to tackle these problems head on.

Pexels CCO License

The Cost

Since the Covid-19 pandemic put a stop to traveling around the world, prices of vacations and traveling have skyrocketed. The costs can put a real dampener on your trip if you are planning on going away, especially if your destination doesn’t fit into your budget. Make sure you shop around for the very best deals. Take a look at money saving ideas online, they will probably tell you to book during the sales. You could also run the risk of waiting it out and booking at the very last minute when companies are trying to fill the hotels and planes. This is risky as it means you could miss out on the trip you want. However, there will always be alternatives.

Good For Your Gut: Top Foods and Drinks to Try

We all care about our general health and wellbeing. But all too many of us don’t pay proper attention to it. Sure, we can try to keep up with the basics. We eat our recommended calorie allowance, and we try to get our recommended amount of exercise on a weekly basis. But when it comes to caring for more specific parts of our body, many of us fall short of the mark. One area of health that many of us struggle with is our digestive health and our guts. These can often give us problems, ranging from bathroom problems, to heartburn, and more. It’s important to start taking proper care of your gut, and one element of this can be the food that you put into it. Here are some top gut friendly foods and drinks that you might want to try out on this journey.

Why Your Kids Might Not be Sleeping Enough

This is a collaborative post. Please welcome today's contributor.

Sleep is a hugely important factor in anyone’s life, and something that you absolutely need to make sure that you are getting enough of if you want to be generally healthy and well. Without enough sleep, it is going to be a lot more difficult to look after yourself, and your body and mind will both suffer somewhat as a result of this. The same is true for your kids, and if you are keen on making sure that your children are well looked after, you will want to make sure they are sleeping as well as possible. Here are some of the possible reasons why they might not be.

The House of Sillage Calls My Name

Tiara from the House of Sillage is a standout in both looks and content. I guess you could say she is beautiful inside and out. Most of the fragrances at HOS are in the shape of a cupcake, carefully adorned with hand-placed Swarovski crystals, and that alone makes them a collector’s delight. I will admit this does look remarkable in my perfume rotation, and it always makes me happy to see it. It is the fragrance inside, however, that has me doing cartwheels on the beach…or should I say in the flower patch (?), since it is a floral scent.
