Disclosure: I received a sample or a discount code to use towards a purchase. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

I have four grandchildren now and the one thing they all have in common (besides being sweet) is that they love their snacks. To take them out on a little trip without a drink and snacks could ruin the whole excursion! The best way I've found to pack toddler snacks, to make sure we always have some on hand, is the Snack'n'Go bag by Roll 'eat.

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: London, England

International Travel, to me, is not just an experience, it is an investment.

This is not the best picture of Westminster Abbey you will find (not by a long shot) but this post is more about a mood than a photo. This was taken in London quite a few years ago but London is still a place that holds great memories for me, and definitely a destination to where I would love to return.

Going through some of my old travel photos today is giving me all the (vacation) feels.

5 Tips For Staying Healthy After Childbirth

This is a collaborative post. Please welcome today's contributor.

5 Tips For Staying Healthy After Childbirth

The postpartum period is one of the mentally and physically challenging phases of motherhood. Unfortunately, life doesn’t stop because you’ve had a baby. From the second you leave the hospital, you are thrown back into the chaos of your everyday life. It can get very tough balancing life with your newborn with your responsibilities. Welcoming a baby into your family is an exciting time, but the postpartum period is also critical for families to transition into parenthood. Statistics show that 54% of pregnancy-related deaths occur during this period. That’s why it’s important you take some time to take care of yourself. Here are five tips to help you stay healthy after having a child.

1. Rest

Having a newborn is a full-time job that requires total attention. However, as impossible as it may seem, you need to get a lot of rest. Fortunately, there are several ways you can do this. First, be sure you do not entertain any distractions that may prevent you from getting enough sleep, such as chores. You should also consider timing your sleep following that of your child’s sleep routine, and if you’re lucky, your baby might sleep a lot. During the first couple of days and weeks, you can also restrict the number of visitors you might receive. You can easily get overwhelmed with loads of family and friends visiting you at various times of the day. By limiting these visits, you give yourself enough time to sleep and develop a relationship with your baby.

You must also seek and accept help whenever you can. Try splitting nighttime duties with your partner taking turns attending to the baby. You can also encourage help from family to give you more time to catch up on sleep.

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: Take me to the River...

The Savannah River: It doesn't matter where we visit, if there's water, I'm going to want to go see it.

Part of the charm when we visited Savannah, Georgia, was the beautiful homes and trees. Then we discovered the water and it was a beautiful place all on its own. I wouldn't mind visiting this city again.

Grandma Slept Where?!??! And She'd Do it Again in a Heartbeat Too

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Look Who Came to Visit Grandma!

For the last two weekends in a row, we have been fortunate enough to have grandkids over. For the first weekend, my daughter's two girls were here, and they kind of occupy each other during the p.m. routine, so sleep time was fairly easy.

Last weekend, my second oldest son's sweet daughter was here (her first time to spend the night) and she wanted to have grandmama next to her, which of course was perfectly fine. I soon came to discover that she is an all-over-the-bed kind of sleeper. She went from the head of the bed, to the side, to the bottom, all before I could even finish the chapter of a book I was reading (and she was sound asleep).

My bed has a comfortable split king mattress, and is super roomy, but I knew that in no time flat she was going to end up on the floor. She's a little tiny one, and my bed is up very high, so I bargained with the teen. I told him he could take my room, and we'd put his mattress in the living room on the floor (to ensure if the sweet little one toppled off, she would be fine).

He readily agreed, and I had him sit next to her while I set up the makeshift campsite. I transferred the little one to the living room and she didn't even wake up. She was again, all over the place with her precious little rolling around self. My teen's mattress is significantly smaller than mine, so I chose to sleep on the floor next to the mattress. That way I could be a barrier if she fell off of the one side she kept gravitating to (LOL!!). It was perfectly fine though, I'd do it all again in an instant. She's a joy, and I loved having her here. All of my grandbabes are sweet little buttercups, and I enjoy every second I can get with any one (or all) of them.

When my teen woke up and came out to see the sleeping arrangement (namely me on the floor and the babe on the comfy mattress) he started cracking up. He made a big deal of stretching languorously and telling me how restful his sleep on the big comfy mattress was... to which I promptly threw my pillow at him and told him he was in charge of making breakfast. :)

All is well that ends well though. The little one was delighted to wake up on a mattress in the living room. To her it was a big adventure. And the teen didn't have to make breakfast afterall because his big brother (lil'-bit's daddy) called and wanted to meet for breakfast. We ended up at a cute diner with perfectly-sized silver dollar pancakes and fresh fruit on the menu for the baby grand. And a teen still telling (and laughing) about the mattress story.

Honestly though, I cannot wait for the next grandbabe adventure. Whoever said grand-littles are the best, surely knew what they were saying. :)

Do You Know Either of these Treats?

Disclosure: I received complimentary products or a discount code to use towards purchase of them. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Johnson's Popcorn has been around since 1940. The store is famous at the Ocean City, New Jersey boardwalk, where the red and white awning beckons visitors to come inside and smell the hot caramel being tossed over the giant kernels of popcorn. These kettles, where the hand mixing takes place, are worth a visit. Caramel is not the only variety that they serve. In fact, there are many others.

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: Ron Jon Surf Shop

Back when the youngest was the smallest in the family (he's now the tallest)
and my daughter and Juan were expecting their first child (they now have two).

This was from a visit we took years ago to Ron Jon Surf Shop in Cocoa Beach, FL.
If you stop at one of the smaller stores around the USA, they are absolutely NOT like this one.
This Ron Jon is the world's largest surf shop (52,000 square ft) & is definitely fun to visit.

Six Reasons Thank You Notes Matter

This is a collaborative post. Please welcome today's contributor.

It’s not a secret that when most of us were children, we were asked to send thank you notes to family members who gave us gifts. It’s a very old but longstanding tradition with most families, and there is a lost art to a handwritten letter these days. Instead of writing letters by hand, most people prefer to communicate electronically because it’s much faster. The power of a handwritten note is long forgotten by most people, but receiving a handwritten note has so much love behind it that we each feel it when we get one!

There are few that expresses gratitude more than a handwritten letter complete with family letterhead at the top. A personal note makes a big difference to the way that people feel, and it shows a level of happiness and excitement that you are willing to provide to others. Below, we’ve put together six great reasons that thank you notes really do matter and you’ll be on your way to making someone else very happy.

Teleflora for Mother's Day!

Disclosure: I received a complimentary product or a discount code to use towards the purchase of one. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

What is it about dragonflies? I just don't know, but there is something so very intriguing about them to me. There was a period in my life where they were there at every turn. They fascinate me.

And of course, I love Teleflora flowers. Been a huge fan for as long as I can remember. I used to send them to my mom every single year. She loved them and I now have all of her unique, gorgeous vases from those deliveries.

Yes, the containers they deliver in are so nice that she saved every single one them. This year, I'm delivering myself flowers in her memory and I intend to cherish that delivery when it comes.

Honestly, I am probably the only adult I know who has never tried so many of the popular drinks many rave about, and that's okay. It's just not a preference of mine. If I do drink, and it's super rare (like once every ten years, not even kidding) it's usually a shot or two of whiskey and that's it.

Lately though, I've been hearing a lot of talk from people about giving up drinking entirely.

Almost Wordless Wednesday: How they Decorate for Easter in Prague

See the men in the tree hanging the Easter Egg ornaments?

According to, during Lent, trees in Prague's Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square are decorated with brightly colored ribbons and eggs. When this is finished, they will place the Paschal equivalent of the nativity scene at the base of the tree. They will also place an Easter Bunny in straw. We were lucky enough to get to visit once, when they were preparing for the approaching season.

Tuck Your Perfume in Your Pocket!

Disclosure: I received complimentary items or a discount code to use towards the purchase of them. All opinions however, are genuine and my own.

I have found the perfect travel solution for those who love fragrance!! If you are a perfume addict (*cough*) or just someone who always brings along your perfume when you travel, you know that it can sometimes be difficult to do! Bottles leak or worse, break, even when you take precautions to prevent them from doing so. In addition to that, airlines only allow you to bring a certain amount of liquid on board, so if you are flying and just using a carry-on, you have to purchase atomizers, travel sizes, or take your perfume from your full-sized bottles and move into much smaller ones. These petals (or towelettes) from Pinrose solve your every fragrance need!

These long-lasting fragrances are super easy to tote. The size of a wet nap, you can simply toss them in your purse, luggage or even your pocket, and forget about them entirely until it comes time to use them. No liquid, no muss, no fuss, and definitely no spills. And they smell great!! I'm not sure it's proper perfume protocol but I tuck mine back in after I use it, fold over the little packet and use it again later if I want to refresh my scent.

Try the same Pinrose Sampler Kit I did to see which fragrance might work best for you. They have included two of each of their scents in this kit, so you can test and enjoy them all.

Alligator Affection? Well...'affection' is a bit of a stretch.

While these fascinating creatures do ruin all chances for us to ever swim in fresh water,

I still don't think they should be confined to a pool surrounded by glass.

How Much House Can You Afford?

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Seven years ago, my sister-in-law whose only child is grown, downsized to a 2 bedroom, 1 bath home in South Florida. She purchased that home for $145,000. It is a concrete structure (important in Florida), with a nice kitchen, an extra room for entertaining, and a sizeable yard. She got a killer deal on it because the family who had lived there prior, had already moved on to a new home and didn’t want to keep up the payments on two places of residence.

The house had an offer on in when she first saw it. In fact, it had two offers, one that was under contract and one that was on a waiting list in case the first one fell through, so she was the third in line. Her realtor pretty much told her she wasn’t going to get it, but in her heart of hearts, she knew it was the home she wanted, and she kept checking on it. She looked around at some other houses, at her realtor's suggestion, and even considered one or two of them, but nothing made her heart sing like the one she knew she loved. Long story short, the people who had it under contract were unable to close, the second in line did not qualify and she got the house!! Hurray and that's the good news. Even better...
