Matthews 1812 House: Upscale Treats for Easter

Chocolate Marzipan Cookies
So...for Valentine's Day I received an absolutely decadent package of Chocolate Marzipan Cookies from Matthews 1812 House. The cookies were about 2" around and made of an almond paste covered with rich, delicious dark chocolate. There was no aftertaste as you sometimes get with dark chocolate, and the subtle but very noticeable almond flavor definitely kept me coming back for more. These are not cookies you buy in a store, they are oh so much better!

Now with Easter coming around, I thought it would be nice to have some special treats in the house. Matthews 1812 House is the first place that came to mind. If the quality of the cookies I had is indicative of the quality for all of their items, and I suspect that it is, there is no other place I'd rather shop for delicious baked goods!

In looking around the online store, I started with cookies (my favorite). Please note though that they have cakes, tortes, fruity treats, salty treats, GF-treats, and so and and so forth. Really, just about any dessert you could imagine, but as for me, I'll stick with cookies: yum! I wanted to try so many different flavors!! Fortunately, Matthews 1812 House is generous with their cookie assortment trays, so that means I don't have to pick just one! Woot!

Extraordinary Cookie Assortment

The first assortment I looked at is called the Extraordinary Cookie Assortment. It comes with 30 cookies total and the flavors included are Hazelnut, Almond, Chocolate Cherry, Pecan, Almond Roll Ups, and Orange Currant Shortbread Rounds. Oh... how I want to sink my teeth into an orange currant shortbread round. In fact, that last one sounds so appealing to me that I was certain this was the assortment I wanted to purchase for our house during the Easter holiday. I knew the guests (and me too!) would LOVE it!!

...and then I came across the Deluxe Cookie Assortment. Decisions...decisions. This one didn't have the orange currant shortbreads, but it did have eight varieties that all sounded just as appealing. Toffee Cashew (what!), Fruit Filled, Marzipan, Molasses, Sparking Chocolate, Cranapple and Lemon/Pecan Shortbread. All good choices to add into a cookie assortment, don't you think? So you can see why I was at a crossroads!!

I'm still thinking, and luckily I have a bit of time before Easter gets here. I may get the Chocolate Covered Marzipan cookies AND one of the assortments (or both of the assortments). Whatever the case ends up being, I don't think I can go wrong. Mattews 1812 House knows cookies! If you're looking for a great place to get holiday (or any day!) treats, this is the place to be.

#SensitiveScents from Renuzit! with #giveaway

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

We have a new (to us) cat, by default. He's a one-eyed, full-grown cat...and my son loves him so so so so soooo much, and that makes me very happy. The cat adapted to house life instantly, and he's been a witness to many a thing, such as my son's very first real live bubble (and if you have a young child, you know that's a very big deal). He's also been privvy to all of my blog posts prior to anyone else seeing them because the minute I sit down, he comes right over and starts his 'snuggle me' routine (he's rubbing his head on my legs as I speak). We think the cat is a total gem, but his litter box area, though it gets cleaned very often (ahem), can get a little on the stinky side at times. Comes with the territory, I know. Much to my delight, I have de-stinked his area with my lovely new Sensitive Scents package that arrived from Renuzit.

Sensitive Scents is the new product line that provides excellent, but light and airy scent coverage for your home. If you don't like overpowering scents but you need effective, this is the line for you try. The plug-in is great for the bathroom. It's an easy way to keep a nice, but not too harsh scent flowing through the room.

The cone was my instant favorite. If you've used this type of air freshener before, you know you open the cone as much or as little as you like, depending on the amount you would like to use. The difference here, is the scent isn't overpowering even if you put it on the highest height of adjustability, which I did. You can't smell it in another room, just in the immediate area and it is pleasant; just the right amount of fragrance going through the area it is in.

The Super Odor Neutralizer is for those quick fix smells you want to get rid of... like right after you changed the cat litter...if there are lingering 'ick' things going on in the air. Of course that's just one example, there are a million things you could use it for, and I love this spray. Again, it's not heavy with its scent, but it does work to instantly get rid of unpleasant smells in the air.

Featured Scents:
Water Blossom & Cucumber
Pure Ocean Breeze
White Pear and Lavender

Each of the three new products in the Sensitive Scents line is great, and I do recommend them if you're looking for something fresh but not heavy. Keep your eyes open while you're out shopping, this is a new product line worth trying. One lucky winner gets (3) free product coupons from Renuzit. US entrants only.

#SingleCupClub Coffee Sent Right to Your Front Door!

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

I've mentioned the Single Cup Club before and I have to mention it again because it's just that awesome! How would you like to have single pods of coffee sent to your door each and every month? It's a great way to try flavors you know and love, and it's a fun way to try coffees that will be new to you too. I was thinking if you have a single cup brewer at work (so many companies do now a days) that it would be fun to have this subscription sent to your job too.

This month's shipment that I received had Twisted Pine Dark Italian, Coffee Icon Superstore Costa Rican and Steep & Brew Caramel Candy. Each flavor was a different roast (dark, light and medium, respectively). Medium is always my favorite and it was again with this batch.

There was also a special and very welcome non-java treat in this month's delivery: the Liberty Ring. That little piece of purple plastic is a pure hurrah! from me because it allows you to use any type of coffee in one popular brand of brewer that only takes their own brand.

This month I gifted my shipment from the Single Cup Club to my mom for Valentine's Day, not because I didn't want the coffee (of course, I definitely did!) but because she loves the single cup brewers as much as I do, if not more and I knew it was a gift that would delight her. I'm thinking I'll get her a subscription for her birthday coming up later in the year. As predicted, she LOVED the nicely boxed set of Single Cup Club Coffees. There was one flavor I could not resist trying though, the Caramel Candy. It was every bit as delicious as I had anticipated.

If you are a coffee lover, or know someone who is, I encourage you to look at the website to explore the easy-to-order subscription options. You can also follow Single Cup Club on Facebook and/or Instagram.

Tomorrow, February 27th, is National Strawberry Day!! How will you celebrate? I'll be breaking out the Welch's Strawberry Fruit Snacks (which I may or may not have already tried *wink/wink* ). Welch's is a brand name that has been in my family for as long as I have. My grandmother used it, my mom does too, and now it's a brand I like to offer to my kids as well. Welch's knows fruit and so when I learned that they also have fruit snacks, and strawberry is one of the flavors offered, I knew it would be a great idea to bust them out for the big day (National Strawberry Day).

We'll have strawberries with our breakfast in the a.m. and strawberry ice cream cones for our after dinner dessert in the p.m., but what better way to break up the day than hand out the Welch's Strawberry Fruit Snacks to the kids? I guarantee you, no one in this house is going to argue. :)

You can use these for celebration but of course you can use them any time of the year as well. I'll be sending them along as school snacks with my youngest (his teacher lets them eat in the classroom).

I think it's fun to celebrate these sorts of days. It keeps things interesting and it keeps them fun.

Welch's® Fruit Snacks are sure to delight your family with the 11 different varieties, delicious taste and quality that can only be Welch's®. For more information, please visit

How would you use your fruit snacks to celebrate National Strawberry Day?

The Legend of the Easter Robin #EasterRobin #FlyBy with #Giveaway

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Children have a natural inclination towards the care and well-being of animals, or so I have seen with my (4) children and their friends while they were growing up. It's nice, and it also allows for so many life lessons to be learned. In The Legend of the Easter Robin, written by Dandi Daley Mackall and illustrated by Richard Cowdrey, we see a young girl enamored by a red robin who has eggs down in the midst of what could be dangerous cirumstances. She is of course, very concerned.

The girl can see the robin through the window, and through the help of her gran, she learns to leave nature alone and watch the beauty of it as it takes place.

Being still is not always easy but gran is smart and knows the true value of being patient. She passes that along to her granddaughter throughout the tale of this story, along with some other very important lessons such as the true meaning of Easter, how Christ died for our sins and rose again so that we could be with our Lord and Savior. It's written in a way that is simple for children to understand and helps drive home important beliefs for Christian families to share with their little ones.

Gran also uses the experience of the Robin and her eggs to help teach her granddaughter about a tradition of blowing eggs and creating things as she did in her culture when she was a child. That gran's a smart one, I tell ya, to use one experience to help teach and reiterate so many things to her sweet little one. ;)

In the end, when all turns out well with the Robin...

there is a lot of rejoicing in the house/family. :)

This book is well written with an engaging storyline and beautiful pictures. I think it would make a wonderful Easter gift.

In the center of the nest lay one perfect egg, the color of a spring sky. The father robin sat on a branch nearby, guarding his family. Tressa spotted raccoon tracks below and a blue jay eyeing the nest. “Gran, how are we going to keep the egg safe?” “We’ll have to leave that one to the Creator,” Gran said. Robins have built a nest on the window ledge at Grandmother’s house! Tressa is thrilled―and concerned. What will happen to the sky-blue egg laid by the mother robin? As more eggs appear, Tressa witnesses the daily drama of the robins’ nest and learns how God cares for all creatures. Besides watching the birds, there are Easter eggs to color. And there is a very special story to hear―a tale of long ago about one small bird with a very big heart. How did the robin get its red breast? Tressa is about to find out as Gran tells her the story of the Easter robin. Brought to life with colorful, tender illustrations, The Legend of the Easter Robin will captivate and teach your child about compassion and faith.

Luvin' the Lugz

When my oldest son got out of  the military there were some things he was eager to change (like being able to grow facial hair). There were other things he took with him for life, like the love of a good quality pair of work boots.

When I gifted him these Lugz steel-toe Drifter boots, he was a very happy young man.

These boots have a slip resistant-sole, so they are great for when he is working.

They have a nicely padded tongue and back side to keep your feet comfortable when you are wearing them for long lengths of time. The steel toe helps protect your feet from mishaps...and they look great too.

Soft Nubuck leather provides a classic look that never goes out of style, and it is reminiscent of his former military boots.

You really can't go wrong with Lugz. It is a name brand with a quality we have come to know and love in our family. If you haven't taken a look around their website lately, I encourage you to do so.

They have boots for women and men, and they have them in many colors including pink and pure white! There are many styles to choose from and they also have athletic shoes.

You can learn more by visiting their visiting their website.

Which boots do you think you would like better? The classic looks or the new fun colors? I'd love to know.

Have you Tried Compression Wear Yet? Tommie Copper Product Review!

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

I'm not sure how to make compression socks look appealing, but honestly,
these Tommie Copper Women's Dress MicroModal OTC Socks are 5 out of 5 star great!
A lot of buzz has been going around about compression socks, sleeves, and the like. I know from past experience that Tommie Copper makes a high quality product, so when it was time to try a compression item, I opted in for the Women's Dress MicroModal OTC Socks!

Standing around in heels all day can make your feet mighty tired. Finding a product to help naturally, that doesn't bind or pinch? Yeah, that's amazing. These over-the-calf socks feel like tights but better because they're not tight at all, they don't make your feet sweaty (quite the opposite in fact), and they provide a cushioning feel that is hard to explain. It's almost like someone has their hand around your foot lightly while you're wearing them. Another big bonus? The elastic holds 'em up! Nothing is worse than walking around in foot tights/socks and having them roll down on the their own. That looks tacky and feels even worse. Not to worry with the Tommie Copper's...they're going to hold up and stay in place.

Tommie Copper has fast become a company I'm happy to stand behind. They put a lot of thought into making their products comfortable and effective. High quality always gets two thumbs up from me.

Recreate the Head Turning Makeup Looks You Saw at the Grammys

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Did you watch the Grammy's, night before last? Some of the looks on the floor were amazing, for sure. The stars strutted the red carpet in cut-out gowns and sequins from head-to-toe. The biggest beauty trend seen on the carpet was sultry, smoky eyes and soft, natural lips. Both model Bella Hadid and singer and songwriter Ciara sported their take on the trend!

Recreate these head turning makeup looks with the below tips! Both of the looks can be recreated using Younique’s top-selling product Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes+which sells at least one unit every 10 seconds* and increases lash volume by up to 400 percent.

Bella Hadid
The look: A twist on natural beauty with a slicked back hairstyle

For a natural glow, brush on bronzer (try Younique Beachfront Bronzer, SRP: $32) on the cheek bones, hairline and neck area to accentuate the face. Finish by using blending buds to create a natural radiance!

Capture Bella’s intense smoky eye look by layering a mix of eyeshadows. Use Younique Moodstruck Addiction Shadow Palette 3, SRP: $49, for the cool pinks and purple shimmer shades. As a base, brush on shade Ecstatic across the eyelid and apply Irate to the upper lash line. Sweep Flippant onto the inner and outer eyelid to create a smoky wing look. Use black eyeliner on the inner rim of the eye and on the eyelid to exaggerate the look.

Finishing the look: The lips are kept light and natural. Add a pop of pink gloss (try Younique Lucrative Lip Gloss in Loveable, SRP $15) for luster!

When you're going for an ultra-sleek look, it’s important to tame flyaways or frizzy pieces. Part hair down the center and apply gel to hair from the root to just above the ear. Brush hair behind ears with a comb. For extra hold, blow dry hair till dry and apply an extra hold gel along the roots as needed (try L.A. Looks Define and Shine, SRP: $2.99) to keep hair in place.

The look: Fresh, healthy glowing skin and a sleek, swept-back hairstyle

Ciara’s look starts with flawless skin. Attain a smooth dewy complexion by spritzing rosewater (Try Younique Refreshed Pure & Natural Rose Water, SRP: $29) help set and refresh the skin!

Keep eyes deep and sultry by using warm eyeshadow shades in the brown and peach family. Take lashes to the next level by applying two coats of Younique Moonstruck 3D Fiber Lashes+, SRP: $29. First, apply an even coat of the Transplanting Gel to the lashes. Immediately apply  a layer of Fibers over the Transplanting Gel. Seal the fibers by applying one more coat of the Transplanting Gel.

Create eye-catching brows using a precision brow liner pencilYounique Moodstruck Precision Brow Liner, SRP: $19. To create the appearance of thick brows, brush on Younique Moodstruck Precision Brow Gel, SRP: $19) which contains buildable fibers, similar to the Younique Moonstruck 3D Fiber Lashes+.

Finishing the look: Keep lips a deep neutral shade with a glossy shine (Try Younique Lucrative Lip Gloss in Livid, SRP: $15).

For this romantically windswept hairstyle, loosely pull hair back into a low braid and tie with an elastic band. For extra shine, use a shine or polishing serum to keep hair picture perfect all night (Try La Bella Super Shine Polishing Serum, SRP: $5.99).

Not So Wordless Wednesday: LBV Resort Village & Spa Swimming Area!

I have found a new favorite swimming pool and it's located at
Truly this pool has everything you could want whether you're single, a couple,
or a family with kids (of all ages!).

I should start with the adult pool (which was so, so nice),
but what really got me was the big Pirate Ship! Ahoy their Matey!

This is the top of the ship from an aerial view,

and this is a picture taken from the top of the ship.
I just think it's majorly cool looking and a great addition to have in the pool area.

At the top of the ship you'll find entry to the slide.
This makes the pool a huge win for children, teens and adults alike.

That opening at the bottom is where the slide lets out.

That's not all there is for the kids though. There's a craft and game area (we played Bolo Ball).

Supplies are already there for you, and there is suntan lotion if you forgot it (nice, right??!)

On the backside of the ship is an area for small/toddler children.
Can I tell you how much I love that it's separated like this to keep the littles safer??

Back in this area for the smaller kids, there are low-to-the-ground seats,
just right for little legs and bottoms, and a zero-entry water level that is amazing!

There are two adult hot tubs, but there is also one in the kids' section,
which was a big hit with my son.

Making it have even a more vacation-y feel
(and if you're here, you're very likely on vacation),
the LBV Resort Village & Spa also has a station for kids to
buy braids or temporary tattoos.

There is a full menu at the eatery.
I saw a family eating breakfast there when I went once in the early morning.

There's a chair if you need assistance into the pool (nice!).

And here's a photo taken from my resort room balcony.
You can see there are seats everywhere, even on the roof of the eatery. :)

Restrooms are on-site and fresh towels are offered in abundance.

Seating was all the way around the very large pool, and if you look carefully, you can see there are a row of hammocks behind the seats in this section (love!).

Keeping up with the trends, there is also a social media board at the pool. Write what you're celebrating or just put up the classic, 'Wish You Were Here!'

When you're headed to the Lake Buena Vista/Orlando area, be sure to book a stay at the Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa. The rooms are amazing (more about that at a later date) but the swimming area alone made it downright dreamy.

You can learn more about LBV Resort and Village Spa by visiting their website. You can also follow them on Facebook and/or Twitter.
