Playmobil Take Along Sets and Carrying Cases are Perfect to Entertain on the Go!

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Trips in the car (or even on a train, bus or plane) are far more fun for kids if they have something to occupy their time that is engaging and fun. Everyone knows when the kiddos who are traveling are happy, everyone is happy. Enter Playmobil. They make these great toy options to bring along, for when children start to complain about being bored (and if the trip is any length of time, they will say they're bored). The best thing about these items is they have handles that also lock them into place, so they are super easy to take on the go. This Take Along Western City is new to the Playmobil lineup, and it was a huge hit with my son.

Lion Country Safari is Florida's Only Drive Through Reserve

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

This week, every precaution has been taken to ensure the animals at Lion Country Safari are safe. The week we went, however, there wasn't a storm cloud in sight, at least not at first. :) A 600-acre piece of land in Loxahatchee, which is located just outside of West Palm Beach, Florida, this property is unique because a large portion of it is drive-through. That's right, you drive at your own slow speed, through the property, stopping to look at whatever animals tickle your fancy. There is plenty of space for the other cars to go around, so you never feel rushed. I took my youngest son and my oldest granddaughter. We had a wonderful time!

Let's Call a Truce: Back to School Germ Fighter

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Let's  talk about chemicals in products that don't need to be there. I'll admit, I still keep bleach on hand that is sometimes needed in the bathroom (we have one small bathroom that sometimes gets mold starting on the tiles and I like to catch and get rid of that quick), but for the most part (and I'm still trying to convince myself to get rid of the bleach), we have made the switch to cleaning products that are simple and natural. Truce is one such company that gets the job done well, with basic ingredients that work such as baking soda, vinegar, etc., and these products are sold at affordable prices.

Throw It Stick It and Hyper Strike from Zing Toys!

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

This Zax Throw It Stick It looks like a hatchet, but instead of being heavy or dangerous, it is lightweight and fun, and totally designed for kids.  My son just celebrated his birthday, and while I thought this was going to be a fun 'side' gift to add to his present table, it ended up being a featured fun gift that he can't put down!

Back to School with Brooklyn Cloth

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

It's time for back-to-school and for us that means updating the wardrobe with items from Brooklyn Cloth. This is a company who makes comfortable clothes that are also trendy (things the boy likes!) and affordable (raising my hand high, that's something that makes me super happy). I also like that they last a long time. When you have a growing middle-schooler, finding clothes that grow a bit with him, matters a lot.

Schleich Makes Quality Toys Built to Last

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

When my granddaughter comes over, I often like to slip her a little gift to take home with her. She's 6-years-old, so at that age where she is so easy to make happy. Right now, we have some great memories from a trip we took to Lion Country Safari (which I wrote about here). The giraffes and lions were my grandbabe's favorite animals, so I thought getting her a couple of the high quality animal figures from Schleich Toys would be a roaring good idea.

Back to School with Discovery Prehistoric Slimygloop Dig

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Discovery Prehistoric SlimyGloop Dig is the perfect rainy day activity to do at home or in the classroom. Taking slime to the next step up, this kit is a wonderful way to help teach children about so many different things, depending on the angle you take while you are working with them to put this together. What child doesn't love getting down and dirty in a pile of slimy goop, only to discover something amazing like dinosaur bones, or in this case, 2 sets of dinosaur bones!

Top Students Top Parents by Kathleen Burns

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

There have been times where I've said it would be nice to curl up with a good book, but there is rarely ever time in my life anymore to do so. Enter Hurricane Dorian, and voila', I found the time. In addition to catching up on some things I needed to do, I also found a couple of hours to snuggle into a pillow on the couch, with my new book: Top Students Top Parents by Kathleen Burns. An approaching storm is not the best way to find some down time, truly, but I was still grateful for it.

4 Reasons to Avoid a DIY and Hire a Professional Carpet Cleaning

Disclosure: Please welcome a guest poster on the blog today.

Carpeting covers 51% of flooring needs across America, and most carpet is made in Georgia. So while it is an investment, it’s easily obtained and replaced. Nonetheless, keeping it looking fresh, new, and beautiful for as long as possible is the goal of most home and business owners. Store-bought or rented carpet cleaners are practically everywhere, so DIY cleaning is a common go-to option for many people. After all, why shell out the extra dough and trust strangers to enter your home if you can just clean your own carpet in a few hours or a day? However, quite often, those DIYers get a shocking wakeup call that expert professional carpet cleaning isn’t just a good idea, it’s often the only sensible one. But why should you consider hiring a professional carpet cleaner instead of doing it yourself?

So These Cards are Cool!! Playing Card Decks started via Kickstarter in 2017!

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

My son is at the age where his friends want to play cards during their downtime, and I'm talking about games like Rummy or Canasta, which is a lot harder than the Crazy 8's or Go Fish that I am used to playing.

Who Wants to Win a Polaroid Instant Camera?!

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

I wrote the post below quite awhile ago now, but this camera is still my favorite digital and instant camera combo!! Today, I learned that the camera now has a lower price on Amazon (now $149!!). To help celebrate the new Amazon price change, and help get the word out, Polaroid is offering one of these awesome cameras to a lucky winner. This is a WONDERFUL GIFT IDEA for any time of the year! It could also be a great way to treat yourself. Get your full-sized pictures instantly to keep or share with a friend!! So many uses, so many smiles. Winner chooses color!

Instant cameras have made a huge comeback. I see them at school events, and two of my grown kids have them too. I love them, but the size of the pictures had got smaller for awhile...until now!! Back to the generous size that's similar to days of old, this brand new Polaroid Pop offers up 3.5 x 4.25" prints instantly, or you can use the digital option with the SD card to save and print later. In addition to that, it's sleek looking and I can't get enough of it. I just love to look at it! The features make it fun to play with, and the touchscreen makes it very easy to learn and maneuver. In the photo above, the print is just finishing up...completing it's roll out of the camera. You can watch the picture forming, as it moves towards the top, which is a new feature I've never seen before. Both me and cutie patootie up there liked that one.

Learning Potential Galore with Giveaway

Disclosure: This post is sponsored. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

This time of year, most students have gone back to school or will be going in the next couple of weeks at the latest. Switching from the relaxed state of summer to the regimented state of school can be challenging, but if you transition with learning toys it can be easier. Also, I wanted to mention there is a giveaway with this post. It's fun when you get to pick your prize, don't you think? And one lucky winner is going to get to choose one of the above learning 'toys' to call their own. Let's talk about what they are, and then you can decide.

For preschoolers, there is the Hot Dots Jr. with Pete the Cat. Pete was one of my son's favorites when he was a little guy, and we still the books, one of the CDs and the stuffed animal (hey, we were big Pete fans). This little learning kits contains over 200 interactive lessons to help kids learn, and it comes in a convenient case with a carrying handle, so little ones can take it on the go. It is recommended for ages 3-5. This is from Educational Insights, and they always have high quality, amazing items for kids.

Educational Insights + Highlights’ Hot Dots Jr.
Winner of the Parents' Choice Approved Award, National Parenting Center Seal of Approval, and NAPPA Silver Award, Hot Dots Jr., featuring Pete the Cat, from Highlights and Educational Insights helps make learning a little groovier with new interactive learning sets! Also, I want to note that one lucky reader is going to be so glad that they stopped by because at the end of the post you will find a giveaway for their Precision SmartScale Body Composition Scale.

Affordable Necessities

So happy to welcome a guest writer today! Please help them feel welcome.

It’s a frustrating truth: Companies will markup items that are necessities, and even more for items that are considered luxuries. Instead of paying full retail price for the items that you need, look online for discount websites and other deals like coupon codes. It might surprise you how much money you can save in the long run.

Back to School is Easier with this Office Supply Set Giveaway

Disclosure: this is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

So, a lot of us are pretty good at keeping up with what we need to have in the office, but what about those supplies we would like to have, but don't really remember to get once we are in the store? Or, what about items that would be useful, but we don't even think to get for ourselves, or know they are in existence?  I have a few of those to discuss today and one lucky winner will also get the stand-alone Note Tower Pro and SlitIt (the tools on the left and far, bottom-right in the photo above). These are perfect if you work from home and the kids are returning to school so you can get busy again, are in a classroom, or even if you work in a traditional office setting all-year-long.

Blog Theme Challenges

People are telling me they can't see my posts on mobile with the update I did to the blog awhile back (evidently the social tabs on the side overlap the content!!), so I'm playing with it until I can find something I can live with... I like the pictures big (the reason I went with an update), but I want the tabs back on top that are now on the bottom. I don't have time to play with it (yet!) but if you're noticing changes, you'll probably notice more until I find something that fits. Thank you for your patience with my indecision. ;)

Have a wonderful day!

Things To Consider When Remodeling

Disclosure: Please welcome this guest post.

There are so many reasons you might consider buying a home and moving – location, you’ve outgrown it, or maybe you really dislike your neighbor’s seven cats. Another common reason for moving is personal style – or the lack of it. Is your home just looking tired and shabby? Think about what it could be transformed into with the money you would save by not moving. Maybe a good remodel would be enough to make you fall in love with your home all over again. Here are some ways to make that process easier.

St. Augustine is Florida's Oldest City

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Heading to St. Augstine was my kids' aunt's idea initially. In fact, she has been telling me for quite a few months that she'd like to go. So, lo' and behold, when the opportunity presented itself, we headed off to Florida's oldest city! We decided before going that we'd like to try the Old Town Trolley Tours. This bus you see in the photo above, picked us up at our hotel, and drove us to the actual trolley stop (so cool!). That meant we didn't have to take our car at all! Hurrah, no need to find parking!

Wallaroo Fold and Go Sun Hat for Babies

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Wallaroo has these adorable little fold and go sunhats for infants. They have hats for adults too, and any age between the two, but what I want to talk about is the wee little ones. :)  You can see from the tag still attached that this particular one is UPF 50+, so I definitely wanted to get it for the newest babe in our family. We were traveling together (me, her parents and my youngest son) to a beach resort, so I figured she'd get more outdoor time if she had a nifty little hat to protect her.

My First Workout: Official Workout Programs Designed Just for Kids!

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

So, my son was very excited when this box showed up on our doorstep because it's a package he has been looking forward to seeing. Some of you know he is in basketball, and that this season he was placed with students far taller and with more weight and strength than him. The last game of the season (the seasons run year-round) was today. If he gets placed with high school kids again (he is just leaving 5th-grade), we will ask for him to be moved back to his own age group. He honestly did not enjoy the season, but stayed in because he didn't want them to think he wanted to quit (kid logic). :)

When Your Pool Float is Bigger Than You (with Flash Giveaway)!

Fun Dolphin and Wildlife Cruise from Florida Water Tours in St Augustine

This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

St. Augustine is Florida's oldest city. We recently took a trip there, and one of the things we wanted to do was explore the beautiful water. We researched the reviews on Trip Advisor and selected Florida Water Tours. It was a good choice. Just to note, we did make reservations, but the sign says walk-ins are welcome. It's worth checking into if you're there and they're about to go (and you want to go too), but our boat was full, so I do recommend calling ahead.

You Have Heard of Tea Bags but What About Steeped Coffee?

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

At first blush you might think that's a cup of tea. Upon closer inspection, you'd find it to be Steeped Coffee!!! Perhaps you have heard of it before, but I assure you I have not!! It took me just one try to become and instant fan though. As some of you know, I am a huge coffee lover. Huge.

Family Gratitude Journal: Let's Record Some Memories Today

Settling in with a hot cup of coffee or tea, early in the morning, with a good book in hand is my ideal way to start the day. It doesn't happen much, I'll admit, but it's something I love to do when it does. My daughter on the other hand, gets satisfaction writing in a journal. She is great at it, and has gone through many journals in her life, so I can see her sitting on the bed, though it would probably be later in the evening, jotting down her thoughts in this hard cover Gratitude Journal.

Easy Read Time Teacher Because Kids Should be Able to Tell Time! Giveaway!

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Every so often I come across something that was a given for me as a child to learn, but kids do not necessarily know how to do today, nor do they want or even think they need to have that skill. Cursive handwriting is one. Telling time the traditional way is the other. Call me old-fashioned (or just practical) but I think everyone should know how to tell time, and by telling time, I don't mean looking at a digital number on your phone. EasyRead Time Teacher has come up with some great ways to help teach your child how to tell time.

5 Important Things To Consider When Buying Your First Home

We have a guest poster in the house today! Please make them feel welcome.

It's an exciting time.  You have saved and are finally financially secure enough to begin the process of purchasing your first home.

The Multi Flask can Multi Task_7 in 1 Drinking Bottle

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

In the summer, it is especially important to stay hydrated. Well, this is true any time of the year, but it's something we need to be very aware of in the hotter months, especially if we are outside. My oldest granddaughter just spent some time with us, and she's a huge fan of ice cold water, and wants to carry it with her everywhere she goes. My son, however, is not so cognizant of the potential hazards of dehydration, and quite frankly there are times when he could care less (he just wants to go go go). I have to find creative ways to keep him hydrated that will be effortless for him. The best way I've found is to have him carry along a 7 in 1 multi-flask from Precidio.

Not just any items, but selections to choose from that you know your friend or loved one is going to appreciate. You can also choose that the gift from Wicked Uncle come with a greeting card that has a message in it from you.

CleanWell Sanitizer for Back to School

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Back to school got here so fast. I know a lot of people are saying the same, or they're saying they don't go back yet (luckies!) but we do, and so one of things I wanted to make sure to have in the classroom is hand sanitizer. A lot of people touch the desks, doors, railings, etc., in the schools, and though our immune systems are pretty good, taking a little precaution never hurt, especially at the beginning of the school year when we are at the onslaught of being thrown back into germ city. Not that I think of school as germ city, but... I like the Clean Well brand because they have a variety of hand sanitizer, and sanitizer wipes as well (for the germy desks). This brand is also alcohol-free, and that matters to me too.

LOL Surprise: Color Your Own Water Bottle Kit

I told my granddaughter there was a surprise for her this morning. She likes surprises. She also likes ice cold water, and takes it with her everywhere we go. Oh, and did I mention that she likes to decorate things? Add that to the fact that L.O.L Surprise is her favorite thing right now (yes, I did buy her the big surprise kit for Christmas) and she was absolutely delighted when I pulled out this LOL Surprise: Color Your Own Water Bottle Kit.

Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort

What would you do if you had a view like this? Hopefully you would relish it like we did when we first came across it from our hotel room in the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort.

Win a Free 20 x 16 Canvas from Canvas Factory

Canvas Factory is a company I know and trust. I used them to enlarge a photo of my 4 kids together. This was before the some of them had children of their own (though one was in the tummy of my oldest son's wife when this was taken). Technically, you could say it was the last professional photo of an era that has now passed us by. My babies are no longer babies. My daughter is the latest child of my to have a child of her own (and what a sweet, wonderful, and beautiful little girl she is). I love to have my canvas prints on the wall, and thought now that she is building a family of her own, that she might like to have one too. I texted her to ask if she had a print she would like enlarged into a canvas and it took her all of 5 seconds to send back her favorite photo of her little one in the arms of her daddy. This photo was taken in the hospital room on the day baby girl was born, and it means a lot to my daughter.

This is New to Me and I love it! Rockit Baby Rocker

July 20th marks the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo Lunar Landing, so why not celebrate with life-saving, moon-themed products!

We do have new precious cargo in the family and what a sweetpea she is too! We recently took a little mini trip together, and to say she is a joy would be such an understatement. I'm telling you, every single time my youngest baby grand gets picked up, she smiles...BIG. If you hold her in a standing up position, she laughs and 'talks/coos' to you. If you put her down, however, she's not always overly thrilled. :) One solution: Rockit Baby Rocker! Haven't heard of it? Nor had I until now, but what an awesome invention.

Desert Essence Body Oil and Body Scrub Decadence

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Honestly, I wasn't much of a person to pamper myself for most of my life. I'm a minimalist with jewelry, wearing only earrings once in a blue moon, I don't wear foundation or any kind of makeup that takes too long to get on my face, and outside of a bit of perfume every now and again, it really just didn't weigh on my mind too much to exfoliate, moisturize, etc. Lately though, that has been changing and I am really enjoying trying new make-ups, fragrances, and beauty products to help make my skin soft and luxurious to the touch. My latest discovery? Desert Essence Body Oil and Body Scrub.
