(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: Reminiscing over Scotland

Just reminiscing over Scotland. The castles were remarkable, our hosts even more so, and the land was just beautiful beyond anything I could describe. It's not a place I will likely return to for more than one reason, but I am surely appreciative for the chance I had to go, when I did.

Even the castles that were in ruins were beautiful. In fact, this one was probably my favorite to see because it just seemed remarkable to me that something that had the intent to be, or was so gorgeous is left in this condition.

Our hosts were friends, and they really made the trip for us. I can't imagine we'd have seen and done as much as we did, had we not had their gracious housing, touring and transporting throughout our entire stay. What a gift. What good memories. I have pretty much lost track of those friends, which is a shame, but I will forever more be grateful for their kindness while we there in their home.

    1. Hi Sandee, I almost wished I hadn't written that when I did because I don't want to undermine the visit. It was a lovely trip. Just lovely. It was unique and our friends were amazing and kind. I just don't think it's a place I would return. I guess because there are so many other places I'd like to see? And then, it's weird to say, but Paris is the place I MOST wanted to visit, and while I loved it, it wasn't the favorite I thought it would be either, though I would LOVE to return for a vacation there. So weird how the mind/heart works. I guess it's the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower that draw me back to Paris. I admit, I'm a touristy traveler. :) My favorite international trip was hands-down, Prague. It was the only place I visited abroad, that I missed immediately as we were driving out of it.

I'm sure walking down memory lane today!

  4. I've been to Scotland twice (lived in London for a few months) and I thought it was incredible. Did you visit Edinburgh? That was the highlight for me both times.
I also visited Paris. Once was enough. A little snotty.

    1. We did visit Edinburgh. Went on a cheesy ghost tour there that was fun. There was some kind of scent in the air, unlike anything I've ever smelled before. Someone said it was malt.

    1. Nothing I can put my finger on really. I honestly can't say. I enjoyed myself. I really appreciated and liked our hosts. Everything we saw was beautiful. Some of my favorite photos from any vacation I've ever taken were there. The only thing I can think of is I like to walk to a lot of places to visit, and here we had to take long drives to get everywhere? I honestly don't know. I did enjoy the trip, for sure, and I am grateful that we got to go.

  28. That's too bad it wasn't as enjoyable as you thought it would be. Scotland is super high on my list of places I want to visit. I really wanted to go there next year, but that's probably not going to be a possibility. Did you see any highland cows when you were there. Maybe you've noticed, I have a slight obsession with pinning those cows on Pinterest (Allison sure has been yelling at me about all the stupid cows that keep showing up in her feed because of me lol). Jason wants to go on a whisky tour. I told him just drop me off near some cows and head on down the road and do his thing. I'd be so fine hanging out countryside all day there, I'm sure lol. How wonderful you had such gracious hosts to show you around too. My best friend's daughter is headed to Sweden next month to visit her boyfriend (he was here to finish his senior year as a foreign exchange student). Before he left, I told him that he BETTER show her the best spots Sweden has to offer from a local's point of view. I expect lots and lots of pictures because Sweden is another place I'd really like to explore.

    1. Ah she's lucky. He probably does know all of the best spots in Sweden. That will be a once in a lifetime trip for her!! I think those cows are cute. I did not see one while we were in Scotland. :) I hope you get to Scotland soon. :)
