Well, this is entertaining! There’s a new animated movie about Jesus coming to theaters, and it's called LIGHT OF THE WORLD. The opening, nationwide, is on September 5, 2025 (with special early showings starting Sept. 4!).
What makes this extra special is that the story is told through the eyes of the Apostle John, one of Jesus’ closest friends. From the start of Jesus’ ministry all the way through His crucifixion and resurrection, the movie captures how Jesus changed the world forever—and how He’s still changing lives today.
If you grew up loving the golden era of 1990s 2D, hand-drawn animation (think The Lion King, Mulan, Beauty and the Beast), you are going to love this. The animation is absolutely gorgeous, and that’s no surprise when you find out who’s behind it. Director Tom Bancroft worked with Disney on those classics, and John Schafer—who produced Superbook—is also directing.
This is actually the very first movie from the Salvation Poem Project, a ministry devoted to sharing Jesus with the world. And from what I’ve seen, they’ve done an amazing job. Even Movieguide is calling it “beautifully animated and entertaining … based entirely on the Bible” and praising its strong emphasis on faith, family, and trusting God’s plan.
What I really love about this movie is that it’s for the whole family. Whether you’re watching with kids, parents, or grandparents, everyone can enjoy it together.
Interested? Go see it opening weekend (Sept. 4–7)! Opening weekend is so important for films like this because it shows theaters and studios that people want more family-friendly, faith-based content on the big screen.
And if you’re thinking about bringing a group, they even have special group tickets (10+ people) for just $7.50 a ticket—which is a nice deal.

ReplyDeleteI would love for the kids to watch this. Will they also have an international release for this? I grew up watching Superbook and it's really nice to see an upgraded version of the program.
