How To Upgrade Your Scrapbooking Hobby

Scrapbooking is something that a lot of people take up as a hobby as it’s easy to do, fun, and you can really make it your own. However, the great thing about scrapbooking is that it can be so much more than ‘just’ a hobby; it’s a way to be as creative as you want to be and where you can let your imagination run wild (and your imagination go to town) on the beautifully crafted pages.

The basics of scrapbooking are indeed very easy to grasp, but if you really want to upgrade your scrapbooking hobby there are a lot of different options to try out - some will work better for you than others, but experimentation is all part of the fun; keep reading to find out more.

Use Die Sets

Die cutting is a fantastic option to up your scrapbooking game as it’s such a versatile technique that you can create some brilliantly intricate shapes and designs very easily. When you invest in die sets for crafting, you’ll essentially be giving yourself a lot more choice and loads of new creative possibilities for your scrapbooking, so it’s definitely something to think about.

You can buy ready-made sets in various shapes and sizes or even letters, or you can make your own from scratch with the right materials and equipment, so you still have plenty of creativity and personality to inject no matter what route you decide to go down, and one thing you can absolutely guarantee is that no one else’s scrapbook will look like yours.

Include Meaningful Stories

It’s fun to include lots of beautiful designs and embellishments, and they are important, but if you want to make your scrapbooking hobby something extra special then it’s a good idea to include all the most meaningful stories in your life, whatever they might be. Think carefully about exactly what you want to include (it’s always going to be your choice because they’re your stories) and make sure that all the things you want to remember as the years go by are in your gorgeous scrapbooks.

The things you might want to include are anything that’s a milestone event, a cherished family tradition, a funny thing that happened to you… anything that want to remember or that you want other people to remember later on - scrapbooks can be a brilliant family heirloom, of course.

Go To Classes

Did you know that you can go to classes to improve your scrapbooking skills? Although you probably won’t come away with a formal qualification - although it might be that you go to an art class that includes scrapbooking, and in that case, it’s entirely possible - but you will come away with lots of new ideas and some skills that you might not have had before. Put those skills to good use every time you open up your scrapbook and you’ll quickly see an improvement in how everything looks.

Search online and you might be surprised at where and when the classes take place - there could be hands-on classes at your local craft store, for example, or there might be online classes you can attend from home. Whatever it is, your scrapbooks are sure to be upgraded when you learn new techniques.

I'll have to see if she'll let me use hers for some crafting this spring. Well, that's if I can find the time to craft for recreation instead of work LOLOL!
