Lucky Scent sells samples and full-sized perfumes. I have ordered a full-sized scent from them before and posted about that purchase on Instagram because it was my all-time best find for a vanilla scent. I'll probably discuss that on the blog soon, because it's good enough to share (boy, is it good enough to share!). From that initial purchase, I knew they had fast delivery, quality packaging (important if your fragrances are coming via delivery) and reasonable prices, so it was a no-brainer to order from them again.
My latest order (best to least favorites) is below:
Xerjoff-Casamorati Lira, EDP: Oh my. This is one of the best scents I've smelled, ever. It's expensive, but it's so, so good. Someone with hundreds of perfumes said this was her favorite in the whole wide world, which made me curious to try it. Lucky Scent had it in stock, so I ordered a sample and was so pleasantly surprised (usually I don't love the scents everyone raves about, but with this one, I surely do). In the opening, I can smell the lavender, something deliciously sweet (caramel and vanilla) and a little bit of cinnamon. It's a teeny bit dark, like Xerjoff's tend to be, but mostly not and I like it. When it dries down it is just sweet, and that's where I LOVE it. Soft sillage and projection but excellent lasting power. Top Notes: Blood Orange, Bergamot, Lavender. Mid: Cinnamon, Licorice, Jasmine. Base: Caramel, Vanille, Musk
Mazzolari -Vaniglia, EDP: Classic Delicious vanilla with a slight candy scent. I really like it. I like Tihota by Indult better, but this one is good. Top Note: Vanilla. Mid: Caramel. Base: Orchid.
The House of Oud - Keep Glazed: I keep looking for my favorite from the House of Oud because I want one of those eggs!! I have heard they are all hand-painted, so no two of them look alike. This is a contender for being one of my favorite HOD scents so far, just because the opening is so good. I am still looking for the perfect one, but this one is pretty delicious! It has a sharp mango note that is so fruity fresh good. Perfect for summer. I love how sharp the mango is, but I might not like it too (slightly) because of how sharp the mango is (if that makes any sense). It almost smells a teensy bit synthetic. This is definitely on my maybe list, because I really do like it. There are a few others from this house that I want to try first before I pull out my wallet. Top Notes: Mango, Strawberry Leaf, Iced Lemon. Mid: Whipped Cream, Coconut, Ginger. Base: Fruity Notes, Musk, Precious Woods.
Comptoir Sud Pacifique - Vanille Abricot, EDT: It reminds me of the only other one I have tried so far from this brand (Vanille Banane). I like the other one a little more. Simple fragrance, nothing complex at all. A little candle waxy/or more so, Bath and Body Works lotiony to me, which I don't mind. I do not dislike it all but I do not see myself buying it either. Inoffensive and can probably be worn most anywhere (work, lunch, dinner date), though it leans casual. Top Notes: Apricot, Papaya, Jackfruit. Mid: same as top. Base: Vanilla, Sugar.
Maison Francis Kirkdjion - Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait de Parum: This is one I wanted for my oldest son. He loves the original Baccarat Rouge 540, so I wanted him to see the differences between the two. This one is a little stronger, with a sharper note in the opening, but definitely similar to the OG. Top Notes: Bitter Almond, Saffron. Mid: Egyptian Jasmine, Cedar. Base: Ambergris, Musk, Woody Notes
My notes on the original: It smells good. I can see how it is unisex. It doesn't lean feminine or masculine but would be amazing for either. Someone said Burberry's 'Her' is a duplicate scent, but to me it's not even close to a dupe. This is much better, though this one is not a love for me (it's a like, but not a love). If I'm being perfectly honest, I have no desire to own a bottle. My oldest son loves it, so I may purchase one for him as a gift at some point (if he doesn't beat me to it). It's not a typical scent, which is a good thing. It makes a perfect luxury gift for those who do love the scent. Top Notes: Saffron, Jasmine. Mid: Amberwood, Ambergris. Base: Fir Resin, Cedar.
Juliette has a Gun - Mmmm: Someone said it smells like raspberry candy but it doesn't to me. It smells truly like flowers and Playdoh. It also smells a tinge bit old school men's cologne. I don't hate it but I don't want to own it. Top Notes are: Rasberry, Geranium, Neroli. Mid Notes: Tuberose, Iris, Orange Blossom, Jasmine Sambac. Base Notes: Vanilla, Caramel, Sandalwood, Heliotrope, White Musk, Patchouli.
Bohoboco: Coffee White Flowers: I can smell the coffee, rum and chocolate. There's a bit of a bitter and sharp gourmand scent that cuts through. After it dries down, you can also smell the flowers (very prominently). Again, I don't hate it, but I don't want to own it. Top Notes: Chocolate, Cinnamon, Cloves. Mid: Coffee, Cacao, White Flowers. Base: Vanilla, Rum, Leather.
The House of Oud: What About Pop: It smells unique for a fragrance. It smells actually like salty popcorn with something sweet added. Not awful, but not my favorite HOD. It definitely feels unisex but on that note (ha, see what I did there? 😇) while it does not smell like a traditional male-only kind of fragrance, it is something that I would prefer to smell on a man. Top Notes: Popcorn, Caramel, Hawthorn. Mid Notes: Whipped Cream, Madagascar Vanilla, Night Blooming Cereus. Base Notes: Ebony, Benzoin, Ambergris, Musk, Madagascar Vetiver.
Xerjoff - Casamorati Italica: This one is fairly new to the line and a LOT of people love it. It smells almost like Amaretto to me (which must be the almond). It's pungent with a slightly milky scent detected. I do also smell a bit of toffee. It's super well blended and smells expensive. I was undecided until dry down and then it was a Nope! for me. I will not buy it. I don't want it. It smells like spoiled milk on me when it dries. If this plays well with your skin type better than it does mine, the big plus here is it lasts forever (well not forever, but definitely for a very long time). Top Notes: Almond, Milk, Saffron. Mid: Toffee, Vanilla. Base: Sandalwood, Cedar, Musk.
If you're interested in buying samples of your own, Lucky Scent has a treasure trove of fragrances for you to try.
