I Love Bath & Body Works Wallflowers

I have an addiction to wallflowers from Bath & Body Works. If you get the right ones, and by the 'right ones' I mean the scents you enjoy, they are ahhhhhmmaaaazing. No kidding. The scent is not too powerful, but you can smell it, and it lasts for quite a few days (often weeks). I love them. They are the best long-lasting fragrance I have found. In fact, they have replaced my love of Scentsy. While I still think Scentsy is a great product (with so many good fragrances that DO last a long time, and great holders!!), the melting wax inevitably gets spilled and I have to scrape it off of things (which is often not easy or fun). Plus, BBW is in the mall, far more convenient than ordering from someone. :)

I recently went to the mall and of course, I stopped at BBW along the way because why wouldn't I?!?!? 😆 I wanted to check out the new scents for the 3-wick candles (the Unicorn Sprinkles had a pleasant scent), and the wallflowers. I love the candles, but rarely buy them. I do enjoy candles. I just prefer the wallflowers. They're easier...just plug them in your outlet and that is it (and you can leave them plugged in while you're gone, in fact, it's awesome to do so because then your house smells so welcoming and good when you return home).

They also had another item I loved, a 3-wick candle holder with hearts all over it. This looks nice enough here, but it's so much more attractive and alluring in person. So pretty. Again, I admired, but did not get; I was on a wallflower mission.

My Favorite Wallflowers

I browsed the selections to pick up a Gingham (a newish favorite) wallflower and A Thousand Wishes (I love to use this one, it makes the room smell so pleasant and homey). They had the first, but were sold out of the second (grr). Then I browsed the new scents...nothing I really wanted, though I did look for Daydream, a new scent I smelled at the front of the store (in body wash or lotion), hoping it would also be in the wallflowers...nothing. I asked for help in finding it but was told it's not in a wallflower (yet). The salesclerk said it might be available later, to keep checking (smart lady...because every time I 'check' for something, I end up buying something). She also asked me if I wanted a basket, but I assured her I did not, because I was just sweeping in and sweeping out.

Basket? No, thank you, I'm only going to be here for a minute.

Of course later I realized, I needed a basket. I was juggling four wallflowers and a new wallflower holder, and trying to sniff samples of other things. I dropped a glass wallflower on the hard floor. It didn't break. The saleslady picked it up for me, and said, 'well if it bounced, it is okay!' meaning, it didn't break. I made a joke about making the place 'too fragrant,' picked up a basket and thought to myself I better change that one out and give the dropped one to the cashier anyway, just in case. Then, I promptly forgot about it.

I made my purchases, left the store, and was marveling about how I must have put on too many lotions because I couldn't quit smelling them...still not thinking about the dropped bulb that was in my pretty little BBW shopping bag (who else loves those little bags?!?). In the next store, I made a purchase, and set my bag on the counter with my water bottle, so I could pay. When I finished the purchase, I picked up my items and saw a small puddle, tinged with blue ink, on the counter. I asked the cashier increduously, 'Is that from me?!' He said not to worry he'd clean it up. We both assumed it was from my water bottle. I still wasn't 'getting it' and wondered, 'what was the blue ink from? That's so weird.' Of course, the blue ink was from my cute shopping bag that was getting soaked with the contents of my broken wallflower, and that was also the reason I kept smelling fragrance (not because I had 'oversniffed' or over-applied in the store).

Then I looked down, at my expensive jeans, and there was a huge puddle just below my belt line, and I knew. I immediately went to the garbage can, all the while noticing the now ever growing line of 'ink- tinged liquid drops' I was leaving on the floor along the way. Sigh...my wallflower bulb that I'd dropped was broken. And of course it was the only Gingham one I had purchased, and I really, really wanted that one for home. I threw away the bag and carried the now scent-covered items to the food court where I picked up some wet wipes and an umbrella bag. I wiped down the items I had, and sighed a bit of relief that I'd gotten the inexpensive fragrance holder instead of the more pricey one I had admired and debated getting. I wrapped everything in napkins and put them in the umbrella bag and because everything still smelled so strong, I put them in the trunk of my car to go home.

Once I arrived home, I cleaned the items with soap and water, took a shower ... because whew, I was a walking Gingham advertisement at the moment, and getting a headache (remember, it was all over my jeans), popped two Excederin and went to bed (the headache was making me too tired to want to do anything).

It was on clearance and it smells SO good.
Is it discontinued? Highly likely because it was on 75% off clearance, but I hope not!

Some time has passed now, and I am over the "I never want to smell this again" phase the broken wallflower caused, so I went to the linen closet to take out my new items and plug one into the wall. There were some Buttercream Icing wallflowers on clearance, and I snagged them all (3 of them!). I usually don't get the sweet confectionery scents because they make me hungry. Honestly. I ordered a Hot Fudge Sundae wallflower online and the whole time it was running I wanted hot fudge sundaes (something I rarely EVER eat). My waistline dictated  unplug that scent ASAP and get something more flowery or fresh. ;) But I couldn't resist the 75% off price of these, and I do love the scent of buttercream frosting. There used to be a lotion that had the smell perfected, but they quit making it, 😒 so I was happy to find these. Today, I plugged it in and guess what...my whole house smells like Gingham!!!! LOL!! I do love the Gingham scent, so it's okay, but I guess the spill smell still isn't gone on these items, even though I washed them with a disinfectant wipe initially, and soap and water when we got home.

The smell is pleasant enough, but it's reminding me of the headache I had in the car. I hope my viewpoint of this fragrance isn't forever tainted now, due to my clumsiness and refusal to be smart enough to get a basket. I mean, it's Bath & Body Works, of course I should have gotten a basket. I know better.

So, it's in the 50's today, which is downright cold for where I live, but I've opened the windows in the living room (where the new wallflower is) just the same, to try and air out the old smell, so I can try to smell the new one. Lesson learned, if you think it, do it (I knew to get rid of that dropped bulb and grab another). Second lesson learned, if there's ink on the counter, it's not from your water bottle. Duh. 😅

Update: The Buttercream scent is coming through now and it smells so good!

Will I go back to BBW any time soon? Of course, I've got to check and see if that new Daydream scent is in a wallflower now. 😉 Of course, if it's not, you can bet I'll be picking up the body wash. It is a new scent that really smells so so good! Who am I kidding, it's highly likely I'll pick up the shower gel (I call it body wash) whether there are w/flowers or not. In fact, I wish I would have just picked one up when we were there. It smells way too good for me to pass up. It's the perfect scent to coast me into Spring!

Are you a Bath & Body Works Fan?

  3. lmao people must have been smelling you all throughout the place. Guess one should always take a basket even for a quick in and out haha never know when you might drop something that smells. A scent that reminds one of food probably is good to pass up even if on sale. Maybe that's a conspiracy? lol

  14. My daughter loves going to BBW and I think if she had money, she'd overspend and sometimes after trying many scents and our basket half-ful and I remind her of my budget, we end up putting most of them back and only choose two or three each.

Perhaps I should try the wallflowers. I always wondered what they were like and if they worked. After all, I do have kids and a husband.

LOL yes, No I don't need a basket.
Oh man, I think we need a basket :D

We do forget sometimes, but yes if I dropped an item, I wont purchase it just to be sure.

Sorry bout your broken scents but at least it still came home eh :)

  22. I'll take your word for it. I really can't smell much, since surgery. The doc had to cut out some of my nasal receptors. But I'm still thankful for not being blind, or have brain damage. I'll let people like you enjoy. I do have some scented candles, but rarely think to light them.

  25. I love food scented candles and plug ins. I have a chocolate one that makes me want cake every time I burn it. Sorry you broke your wallflower. That would be upsetting to me. Right now, I am on an aromatherapy kick from BBW. I love their Rose Vanilla and their Black Chamomile scent and have been buying both of them up when they go on sale.

I go to B&BW three or four times a year. Last time was during the 75% off sale. I use Scentsy warmers in my home. Don't think I've ever tried the wallflowers. I do love B&BW Body Wash and Body Sprays.
