Today I want to talk about the SandLite Sand-Free Mat from CGEAR. This mat has been a lifesaver to me. I love to go to the beach. The older I get, the more I crave it. I'm not sure why that is, but it is definite fact. My youngest likes the beach but gets very annoyed with the sand. He hates how it follows him everywhere. On his shoes, in his clothes, and even on his mat when we're trying to chill on the sand.
The mat has simple fasteners on it, so it stays nice and tidy in the beach bag, car, or wherever you might store it. It's also easy to fold and unfold it. I love it. Most mats are a pain in the behind to fold or get back together. This one as I said, is HURRAH not... not even one little bit. Is that what my son loves though? No. He could care less (he'll care about such things when he's older). ;)
I must say though, that he does appreciate how easy it is to carry, and that goes hand-in-hand with those dandy straps.
What he loves is that when we put the blanket down in the sand, the sand doesn't stick, it brushes right off without a trace!! That means he can read, eat, play or whatever without being instantly annoyed. It's made a big difference for us in that my son who likes to play on the beach, but doesn't love beach time (because of that sand issue) has been in agreement to go visit (the beach) more often. Woohoo!
There are many styles/patterns/colors you can get, and several sizes too. This is the 6'6" x 6'6" in green and you can see it could easily hold more people on it.
I shared this space with my son and there was still plenty of room for when we bring along my granddaughter at a later date. You can see a teensy bit of sand on the backside of the blanket, which got on it when I was folding under the corners to keep it in place. Turns out I didn't need to fold it under because the material allows wind to pass through it, so it won't fly up. Say what? That's amazing! Anyway, that sand brushed off so super easy that once again, I was in awe. On their website today I saw that they also have other sand-free items, including sand-free shoes. I'm going to have to check those out and see if they come in my son's size, because like I said...he's got issues with sticking sand.
That being said, he's also one to always ask to be buried in the sand...or he will roll around in it. 😅 I guess it's just too hard to resist playing in it. Though you can't tell it here (the sun was in his eyes), he does always have a great time at the beach, the hard part is just the rinsing at the end. He never feels like he got all of the sand off... which has a high probability of being true, because he plays so hard in it!! I dunno... I just go with the flow, and am ridiculously happy that this blanket allows him to sit sand-free, before he decides to delve into the glorious brown richness on his own. ;) On this day, once he was buried (except for his giggling head), he rested with his head on the sand-free blanket. He said it was nice to have it there because it kept him from getting too hot (if you put your head directly in the sand to lie down, I'm sure it gets pretty hot).
When he got up, the sand he'd kicked on the blanket brushed right off without nary a trace or granule left behind!! Now this is a blanket I could get used to when we are visiting the beach. The thoughtful design is a game changer.
When you're done and it's time to go home, you simply fold the blanket back up and fasten the straps. Easy peasy, and what a gift! I'd love to give or receive something like this any time! It's practical yet still so very awesome all at once. I highly recommend this product. Please remember, you can use this mat for a lot of different scenarios, it isn't just for camping out on the beach (I'm thinking playpark, yard, star gazing, 4th of July, etc.). If you'd like to learn more about it, you can visit the CGEAR website. You can also follow them on Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram.
When you head to the lake or ocean and park yourself in the sand you expect to have a nice relaxing day soaking up the sun, reading a good book or listening to music. But, you end up readjusting your towel and trying to brush the sand off it to get comfortable every time you move. The new SANDLITE mat rolls up in a compact bundle for easy carrying, it also features a strap to secure it closed and a built-in carry handle.
Lay it out on the beach, in the grass or even the dirt to create a sand and dirt-free area, the possibilities are endless. The patented dual-weave of the SANDLITE mat acts as a one-way sieve. Sand and dirt particles can pass right through the mat if you get some on it, but nothing can come up through the bottom. Plus, the soft fabric is water resistant, so you never have to wait for it to dry to use it again.
I think I'd want like 5 of those if I lived by the beach. That's so cool!
ReplyDeleteYeah, sand getting everywhere is a good reason to ignore the beach. But still can be fun. Older you get the more you like it? hmmmm easy access to the giant litter box? lol
ReplyDeleteThis is great. I would love one of these to take to the lake.
ReplyDeleteI so need this in my life. I love the beach, but hate getting sand everywhere. It does have a lot of space on it too, which is awesome!
ReplyDeleteOMG! This would be a life saviour for me. Actually, I take chairs with me to the beach because of the sand, but it is of course not the same as lying down. And I love the color!
ReplyDeleteIncredible! It looks so little and small as closed but as you open it it's... like a camping tent :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is revolutionary! What a great idea for a mat, there is nothing worse than soggy sandy blankets!
ReplyDeleteI love beach too but sometimes I too get irritated by sand, definitely a cool mat to have and enjoy the beach time.
ReplyDeleteThat is ingenious! Perfect for beach days. Ah! this solves all my problems. Thanks for suggesting.
ReplyDeleteWow! I so need this mat in my life! I too hate when sand follows me everywhere after coming from the beach!
ReplyDeleteI have an issue with sand as well and this sounds like a miracle to me. As do the shoes - I particularly hate sand in my toes! Thanks for sharing this - I’m going to have to get one myself!
ReplyDeleteWow that's amazing! Perfect solution for beach to avoid the sand which comes with you as soon as you reach home after..
ReplyDeleteSand on the beach blanket is so annoying. It's one of the reasons I like the pool. The blanket would solve all of that.
ReplyDeleteI may have to some christmas shopping for this. My nieces take their familys all the time. They would like this
