Every now and then, a movie comes along that feels like it was made for family night. Dot Conner: Webtective is one of those stories, a sweet, action-filled adventure that’s perfect for kids, parents, and especially tweens who are ready for a movie that’s both fun and meaningful.
The film follows Dot Conner, a sharp and curious “webtective” who gets a mysterious phone call from her dad right before starting high school. That one call sets her off on an adventure she never saw coming—one full of clues, puzzles, and even some shady characters along the way. With the help of her friends Makayla and Alex, Dot begins piecing together secrets about her dad that pull her deeper into a mystery much bigger than she could have imagined.
I love that while the story is exciting, it’s also uplifting. It’s not just about solving riddles and chasing clues—it’s about friendship, courage, and faith. Philippians 4:13 comes alive in this story as Dot learns that even in tough or scary times, she doesn’t have to face challenges alone.
This is the kind of movie I’m excited to share with my tween granddaughter. It’s adventurous enough to hold her attention (thugs... secret treasure hunts... a dash of espionage...), but it’s also clean, encouraging, and family-centered. In a world where so many movies for kids miss the latter perks, this one really feels like a win.
