You have an opportunity to recharge and unplug. The world is constantly buzzing with notifications, screen time and schedules, so being on the water offers you a rare opportunity to disconnect. When you're cruising a quiet lake or you're anchored in a peaceful Cove, the noise of daily life fades into the background. Boating gives you an opportunity to step away from the digital and immerse yourself in nature. The result is lower stress levels, improved mental clarity, and a feeling of renewal that is very hard to replicate on land.
You get quality time with family and friends. Boats have a unique way of bringing people together. Whether you're teaching the kids how to fish or you're just enjoying yourself on the water, the distractions of modern life are replaced with genuine connections. Pontoon boats, in particular, are ideal for socializing thanks to their spacious layout and smooth rides.
It's an affordable adventure. With boating, you don't have to fly across the world for a huge escape. Boating turns nearby lakes, rivers and coastal inlets into adventure destinations. Water sports like tubing and paddle boarding can become everyday activities, and even a quiet sunset cruise or early morning paddle can feel like a mini vacation. Given the range of boats and ownership options of those boats, getting out on the water is more accessible than you've ever thought it could be.
You can get fit (with a view). It's not usually the first thing that comes to mind, but boating offers surprising fitness benefits. Kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, or even docking and maintaining your boat can contribute to an active lifestyle. Best of all, you're doing it in a scenic, stress reducing environment rather than under the fluorescent lights in a crowded gym.
You have an opportunity to create lifelong memories. Some of the most cherished moments in life happen unexpectedly. Casting a line with your child, watching fireworks from the water on the 4th of July, or laughing with friends as you jump off the boat together are all just memories that you're making rather than just activities you're indulging in.
When it comes down to it, the water is calling you right now. Are you going to step out or are you going to stand on the shore and watch?
Water gives me solace and heart balm - even standing on the shore and watching.
ReplyDeleteBeing close to the sea is one of the main reasons I moved from Toronto to the south of Italy! I feel so connected and grounded when I'm at the water, and it totally calms my nervous system.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I could not agree more. Being on the water, whether it's a lake or the sea, is an incredible experience. There's something so relaxing and calming about being surrounded by the beauty of nature like this.
ReplyDeleteIt's a most wonderful way to spend a day, a week or two weeks. We did a lot of out on the water for over 20 years. I agree with you.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day and rest of the week, my friend. Hugs. ♥
We're all water babies here.
ReplyDeleteBoating can be a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteThere’s nothing like being out on the water to forget all the stress and noise of everyday life. It’s such a peaceful way to recharge and just enjoy the moment with family or friends!
ReplyDeleteI love this post. I'm all for getting into the water, there's such a peace that falls upon you when you are on the water. I miss going to our Family Cabin, we would always get on the lake at night and glaze at the stars. I can do both, stand on the shore and watch and get in :0)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the beach. Just me and my family, the wind and waves, maybe a good book…It is so peaceful!
ReplyDeleteI really don’t spend enough time on the water, and now I kinda want to change that. There’s just something so calming and fun about it, whether it’s paddling, floating, or just drifting along. Totally inspired to make some lake or river time happen soon!
ReplyDeleteBoating is indeed mostly peaceful. I don't fish, but chartering a boat to go look for whales or dolphins would be cool.
