Oh these are cute! The I Can Dig It Horses kit would be excellent for the upcoming holiday because they're housed inside of little pink hearts. :)
My granddaughter got a snow kit for Christmas from Thames & Kosmos and it really kept her engaged for quite awhile. It was fun, albeit a little messy, to work on the creations with her. That really got me interested in the brand so I took a look around their site to see what they have for the kids for Valentine's Day. The "I Dig It" sets are kind of cute!! The set I looked at had horses in it. They also have dinosaurs, dragons and farm animals. The little figurine inside is made of plastic and it comes with a little chisel tool so you can chip away at the heart and find the lucky prize. Sometimes the most fun is in the process, something Thames & Kosmos has really picked up on. Because there are small parts here, this is not recommended for children under the age of 3.

How fun are these?! My nephews would have a lot of fun with them. They are so into dinosaurs, I'll have to remember to get them the dino kit when their bday rolls around in August.
