Embracing Simplicity Can Help You Unwind

Disclosure: I was provided samples items or a discount to use towards the purchase of discussed items. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Welcome to a blog post where we delve into the curious phenomenon of juggling multiple tasks simultaneously and thriving in the chaos. Yes, it may seem strange, but I know there are more of you out there who share this peculiar trait, right? However, even the most adept multitaskers among us occasionally find ourselves in need of decompression. We all do! And when that moment arrives, my personal retreat to tranquility lies in embracing simplicity. Picture a blissful bubble bath or a soothing shower, followed by slipping into my cherished Hello Mello satin jammies. Adding a touch of relaxation with a delightful fragrance (because who doesn't adore fragrances?), I might then embark on an activity with no educational or work-related value—a moment that is exclusively and unapologetically for me. Often, this involves treating myself to a purifying face mask or indulging in the selection of a stunning nail color, allowing me to pamper myself with a mini manicure and pedicure. These cherished moments of self-care serve as a simple yet powerful means of rejuvenation, effectively refreshing the mind, body, and spirit.

Let's talk about the products that work so well to make me so happy when it's time for me to decompress.

1. There's just something about satin. The pink and white satin pajamas from Hello Mello are super smooth and light, and they feel luxurious to wear. This beloved collection now includes pants, shorts, joggers, cardis, sweaters, hoodies, tees and robes. For me though, it's the jammies that have me loving my at-home care day.  Take a look at the line on Amazon. Each piece comes thoughtfully placed its own matching little drawstring pouch that makes it a great idea for gifting, packing (for a trip), or just reminding yourself that these items are designed to feel special.

You can check them out on the Hello Mello website and/or Amazon.

2. Rosy and Earnest is a very new fragrance company from Canada. They make fine fragrances that are an easy choice when you want to relax because in addition to being beautiful, they are also consciously made. In fact, they are the second ever Eau de Parfum creator to receive the very difficult to obtain EWG-certification (which means they meet the strictest standards for your skin and health).

The perfumer behind the two fragrances they have launched, 'Be Rosy' and 'Be Earnest' is none other than the multi-award-winning and very well respected in the fragrance community: Nathalie Feisthauer. Even before I looked up who created these scents, I suspected it was going to be someone with an extensive and niche-bending background.

Be Rosy is a soft scent with Clementine oil and floral notes that are touched with osmanthus absolute, black tea and orris butter. It is soft and very feminine. It is so perfect for a relaxing night IN but it would also perfect for a day out (or the office). It's starts off as a very pretty fragrance that gets even better as it dries down.

Be Earnest is a completely unisex fragrance that has me relaxed and feeling 100% pampered and spoiled. I honestly cannot get enough of this gorgeous scent. This is exactly what I needed to help me chill out. It has rhubarb and apple in the top notes, but I don't smell those at all. The middle notes are listed as 'floral.' I don't detect those either. What is prominent to me, and I love it so much, is a mix of Canadian Fir Balsam and Virginia Cedar Wood. There is a synthetic musk added, probably for depth, (synthetic because they don't use animal products), but I don't detect that either.

This is one of my new, absolute favorite scents. And those of you following me on social media, my new blog for fragrances only, and sometimes here, know that I have tried A LOT of fragrances over the last few years. It's become more of a passion than a hobby at this point. Fragrance just makes me happy and Be Earnest is one of the best that I've come across. It's really just so good for the senses. It's crisp and a bit woody, and it makes me feel mentally invigorated, physically comforted and completely relaxed all at the same time.

You can order samples on their website, if you'd like to 'try before your buy,' which I always recommend.

3. Ella + Mila Nail Polish is also an eco-friendly, high end product. I love that so many companies are turning towards this kind of thinking! Labeled as the OG of "Seventeen-Free" brands, this polish is formulated without the 17 (harsh) ingredients that might be typically used in creating nail color. There are over 220 shades to choose from, including those that are chip-resistant, quick-dry and high shine.

One of the many things they offer is a "Mommy & Me" set but I'm telling you the truth when I say that sparkly one would go on my fingernails just as fast as it would go on the littles'. That's super cute (grown ups love blingy too), and of course it's vegan and animal-cruelty free.

You can find Ella + Mila at Target, Amazon, Rite-Aid, CVS and Walgreens.

To conclude...prioritizing "me time" and indulging in self-care practices is essential for overall well-being and rejuvenation. I can't be all things to everyone if I'm not taking care of myself first. In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it's easy to overlook our own needs and neglect the importance of self-nurturing. By carving out moments for ourselves and engaging in activities that bring us joy and relaxation, it does ultimately help us to recharge. These are just some of the products I'm happy to use when I'm ready to take some time out for me.

  14. Nothing calms me faster than a relaxing bath, then crawling into bed with fresh sheets while wearing soft pajamas. I don't have any satin jammies, but I need to remedy that, stat!
