Small Changes that You Can Make to Keep your Family Healthy

If you feel as though your family aren’t quite as healthy as they could be and you want to make a positive change then this is the guide for you. Small changes can be so powerful, and this is especially the case if you practice them over time. If you don’t know where to start then this is the guide for you.

Swap Junk Food

The first thing you need to do is try and swap out junk food. This is very easy to do, as you just need to swap out the things that are dragging you down. Most of the time, it’ll be snacks such as potato chips and processed foods. If you can change them for some easy alternatives, such as dried fruit, energy bars and more then this will work in your favour. You would be surprised at how much you can help the whole family by looking into things like this. You never know, you may be able to form some positive habits too. Remember, you can find healthy snacks for babies at your local supermarket, so make sure you keep this in mind.

Make the Family Commit

Another thing you can do is make sure that the whole family is committing. You need to encourage people to exercise every single day. You don’t have to spend more than 10 minutes doing something here, because as long as you are doing more than you were before, you shouldn’t have any issues in seeing a difference. It may be that you can see who can go up and down the stairs the most times or that you have a sit-up challenge. Either way, things like this can help to create a bit of friendly competition and you would be surprised at how much it could help you to get everyone moving. You can even get a chart with stars to show how much work everyone has put in, so your younger kids can see a reward for their hard work.

Establish a Firm Rule

It’s so important that you establish firm rules when it comes to tech and screen time. Take advantage of setting some new boundaries for the whole family. Determine what it is you think is appropriate and also make sure that you write the rules down. If you can do this then you will soon find that it is easier than ever for you to keep everyone on the same page. Kids might have a bit of a hard time with the new rules at first but if you take the time to change out the screen time they would normally have for another fun activity then this will help them a lot.

Provide Vegetables

Having fresh vegetables available is one of the best things you can do. This may require a bit of effort, but it is very easy for you to see positive results here. Stock up on some fresh fruit and vegetables, and as soon as you get home from the supermarket, make an effort to cut it all up. You then need to put the vegetables into a container that is clear and easy for the kids to see. This is a very good way for you to make sure that you are providing something for the whole family and it also stops them from thinking that junk food is the only option.

Be Creative with Ingredients

If you can be creative with your ingredients then this will help you out a lot. It may be that you buy a food processor and you add some chopped vegetables. When you do this, you can then add the vegetables to a meatloaf or even a spaghetti sauce. Of course, your kids probably won’t know that they are eating vegetables here and if you have a fussy child then this is the best way for you to work around that. Vegetables are full of vitamins and minerals, so make sure that you look into things like this if you want to give them the best experience with their healthy eating routine. If you want to step things up a notch then you can add some flax seeds or even some chia seeds. By doing this you can give them more nutrients in the day and it won’t hit your budget too much either.

So as you can see, there are many things you can do to support your kids with their healthy eating routine, and if you follow this guide, you will soon find that it is easier than ever for you to see the results you are looking for.

  2. We do a lot of fresh vegetables at our house. And as few processed foods as possible. They're even worse than full sugar soda. (We we also don't consume anymore.)

  8. I have noticed how much better I feel since I have cut my sugar intake down, people have noticed that I have lost weight too. I always keep fresh veggies in the fridge to encourage the kids (luckily they love them)

  20. It really does make things easier when the whole family is on board. When we're all bettering ourselves and encouraging the rest to do the same, it's much more manageable. Plus, we don't have someone sneaking in the junk food since we're all trying to make healthier choices. Great tips!

  21. Being creative with what you eat and adding in veggies is such a good tip - and there are so many ways to be creative. You can hide them, cut them up into fun shapes, and do "experiements" with them like cooking them three ways and having everyone try each way to see which one is the best.
