---- 4 Household Problems You Can Solve Yourself

This is a collaborative post. Please welcome today's contributor.

All busy parents know that there are some things you need to leave to the professionals, especially if you don't have the skills or the time to fix problems around the house. However, as much as some things require a pro, there are many other household problems you can deal with all by yourself. In a world where it is often easier to call someone in, people forget that many repairs or general care and maintenance are easier than they appear, which could save you a lot of money in the long run.

Simple DIY
Although you’re unlikely to be repairing roofs or building an extension, there are plenty of easy DIY projects you can explore to improve your home and even increase its value. If you’re on a tight budget, these DIY projects are a great way to transform your home with small adjustments that mimic inspirational designs you have seen online.

You can start small, with a quick repair or replacement, but as you become more confident and get to know your way around a hammer and hot glue, your DIY potential is limitless.

Clogged Drains
If you’re living in a large household where there are at least four showers or baths each day, there is a chance that your drains will become clogged at some point. You’ll notice when you’re standing in ankle-high water while taking a shower, or it could be when the sink drains at a snail’s pace.

Fixing clogged drains before they become a severe problem will prevent an array of household problems. The last thing you want is a backed-up drain putting pressure on your pipes, so effective drain cleaners designed specially to break down grease, hair, or food are all suitable.

Stains Everywhere
Anyone with kids knows that dirty hands will make marks all over your (formerly) pristine alabaster walls, and if it isn't your kids' mucky fingers, its red wine stains from that small window of relaxation you enjoy on a Friday night.

These stains can affect your home, making it look tired and worn out. It might seem like there's no point in fixing it now as it’s bound to get dirty again, but a quick cleaning solution, rather than repainting entire walls, can refresh your home.

Slow Technology
From your oldest relative to your youngest child, it feels like everyone has a device of some kind, but as convenient as technology can be it isn't perfect. Most kids and adults don’t have tech literacy to maintain their devices, meaning they degrade much faster than they should.

One common issue is slow technology, which can be frustrating at the best of times, especially if blogging or writing book reports for school. Learning about more cache types and how these - among other issues - can clog your system will ease frustration and speed up your devices.

Easy Fixes
You may be surprised at how many things you are capable of doing around the house. Whether you need to fix a broken door handle or remove grease and grime from your drain, things are much easier than they first seem. You never know, you might learn something new along the way, too.

  1. I really love doing DIY project around my apartment. I try to fix something before calling a pro (or the apartment company). It is easy sometimes.
