How Is Your Business Perceived?

One of the most important things when starting any business is to understand that perception is everything. The way that people see your business is the thing that will impact whether or not it actually succeeds. In the modern world, while it might be easier than ever to set up any business right from your own home, that also means that the marketplace is more saturated than ever before so if you’re not able to make the right impression on the wider world in your business, you’re going to be in trouble. With that in mind, here are some that the general public might be perceiving your business and what to do about it.

They think you’re an amateur

This is one of the most common issues for a lot of new businesses. After all, it can often be hard to be seen as a professional when you’re competing with far more well established businesses with much higher budgets. This is especially true if you’re running your business from home. A lot of people see a home address attached to a business and assume that you’re an amateur. Luckily, with sites like www.physicaladdress.com, you can provide customers with an office address that lets your business look far more well established. The quality of the work you do may be just as good as it’s always been but that little change in perception can make all the difference.

They see a terrible website

Speaking of looking amateurish, there are few things that will sour potential customers on a business than a really terrible looking website. If someone clicks on your website and it’s a total mess of poor design choices, unintuitive navigation, and poor functionality, they’re going to assume that this reflects on your business as a whole. If you want to make the right impression, make sure that your website reflects the quality that your business provides. Luckily, there are so many great website templates available that you can use and customize to make your website leave the best possible first impression.

They don't see you at all

This is a big one, especially when just starting out, and perseverance has to be key. Of course, just because you’re dealing with any one of these issues doesn’t mean that you should allow that to discourage you. The only way in which these issues can truly drag your business down is if you don’t bother to learn from them and use them to improve your business and keep pushing it forward into the future.

  16. It's hard to get your small business noticed, but you've made some great points here to help succeed in today's online world. Social media is a big one that many companies can't seem to grasp. Like, interact with your customers for God's sake! Nothing ticks me off faster than seeing a business only use social media for posting their announcements, then ignore customer comments and questions on the post. The bakery we were in talks to buy, their last owners ignored the social media comments and questions (granted, the owner was a 70 year old man and never took to technology) but the new owners are following in their footsteps and doing the same ignoring tactic. I am half tempted to convince them to hire me to run their platforms.
