Kids Create Their Own Christmas Ornaments: How TREEmendous!

Disclosure: I was provided a sample product. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Okay, so sometimes there are items that I get every single holiday, or take out to use every single year, and being a blogger, I always think, well, I should write about that since I really love it so much. This year, I have decided to go ahead and do that, by posting a blast-from-the-past but tweaking it to add a new product to the post, that is extremely similar. I never recycle posts. Why would I do that? To show you how much I love it!! How durable it is (we're still using our old one from 3 years ago). And to introduce (or reintroduce) you to it, so you can pick one up for your kids this holiday season too!

The new item is above and it is extremely similar to the original item I have, which I talk about below. The two biggest differences are 1). now you can get the kit that has 3 different-shaped ornaments including a fun triple-tier design and 2). There is a storage kit underneath the maker for your markers (I love this update! very handy).

So what is it... It is the Gift Box Ornament Decorator.

It is an ornament decorator kit that is SO MUCH FUN and it's easy to use too. Kids will enjoy watching it spin and seeing the designs come to life with the colors they are choosing to use. Keep reading if you're looking for something very reasonably priced to purchase that will delight children of all ages.

So, we kind of did a thing...

I came across this TreeMendous ornament maker online and instantly fell in love. I knew that once it got closer to Christmas this would be an item that I would want to get for my granddaughter. This is right up her alley, in every possible way imaginable.  From the day she could sit up straight and put things together, she has been all about the crafts and creation.

This kit comes with the ornament spinner, 3 blank ornaments, ornament tops and 8 quick-dry markers. It also has instructions and is super easy to use.

The on/off switch is huge and strategically placed on the side, so it doesn't get bumped accidentally during the fury of excitement taking place when kids see their ornaments coming to life with their colors and designs of choosing.

What powers it is 4 AA batteries (not included), and a note not to store batteries in the kit while it is in storage; advice I have learned the hard way over the years, to be true. Unused batteries will corrode, and they will ruin your item. So once the holiday season is over, and you are packing this up for use the following year, just remember to pop out the batteries first.

The ink in the markers dries really fast, which is important with an item like this one. Little ones get excited and want to hold their work as soon as it's done. If the ink didn't dry quickly, it would smear and cause fret and tears, I'm sure. Thankfully, TreeMendous is tremendous at considering such things, and was very proactive in how they created it. It takes about 60 seconds for it to dry.

Here you can see my son creating a Christmas Ornament in the machine. To do so, he simply needed to select a color, turn on the on switch and rest his ink where he wanted the marks to begin on the bulb. The spinning does the rest. If you mess up with a wobbly hand, like my son did a little with the blue above, you can simply run the ink over that spot again and it clears it right up. I didn't actually figure that out, my child did when he was working on his decorating.

This is what it looked like after he did the touch-up.

The next step is to apply a little bit of pressure with your thumbs at the bottom of the ornament, to allow it to pop out of the machine. Then you put the ornament topper on it, so it can hang, and voila'! You now have a homemade non-breakable bulb for the tree, that your child made by him/herself.

The 'thing' we did, that I alluded to in the beginning, is that this was supposed to be something I took to my granddaughter's house for her to play with and create (remember she's the one who has crafty in her bones). She is 6-years-old. Turns out my son, who is 12-years-old, also loved making these, and asked if we could keep it! How could I resist? Of course, I said yes, but guess what's on grandma's shopping list for the little? Mmm hmm, a Treemendous Ornament Maker. I could just buy the 6-pack of blank ornaments and let her use this machine, but I'm thinking it'd be more fun for her to have one of her own. Perhaps I'll buy those bulbs for us, and we'll sit with her...and her new machine and make ornaments at the same time. :)

This is an item that is great for kids of all ages. I highly recommend Treemendous (as seen here) and the Gift Box Ornament Decorator (as seen at the beginning of the post) for holiday gift giving.

    1. We are honestly still sick but it turned out it was pneumonia and not the flu. The posts I'm putting up today were drafted a couple of weeks ago and I was too tired/sick to get to them!! Happy to be up and moving now. I'll have to put on your next grateful day post that I'm grateful for antibiotics! :)
