I am headed off to work today with a big box of Welch's Fruit Snacks in sweet Valentine's Day shapes. I know one of my classes will love to be the recipient of them.  I discovered a long time ago that they way to my student's heart is a). lunch with the teacher or b). snacks. It sounds funny, but it's true. These kids love to have something to eat, and if it's in the middle of class as a surprise, in my room with a typical 'no eating' policy, they get extra delighted. :) Then I remembered about a blog post I did using them a couple of years ago and I decided to recycle it. It is, afterall, close to Valentine's Day, and these are the perfect snack to give to your family, students, youth groups, etc. Trust me the adults love them too. The chunky cuteness factor of the hearts is very hard to resist. :)

Welch's Fruit Snacks are my son's favorite brand, and now they've come out with heart-shaped ones just in time for Valentine's Day. The packets say, 'to' and 'from' on each one too, so they're perfect for Valentine's Day in the classroom! Each little heart has an emoji face on it. I think that is such a cute idea, and emojis are definitely all the rage right now (with the kiddos and adults)! Made with real fruit, and coming in individual/single-size packets with a 'to' and 'from' space already printed on the wrappers, I think these will be the perfect gift for my son (or any child!) to share with his class on the holiday, It is definitely an awesome alternative to candy. AND they come with 28 in a box, which is almost perfect for any class size (don't you hate buying something that has 20 items and then there are 22 students, so you have to buy two and have a bazillion left over?!?). Truly, Welch's has thought of everything. I'm not surprised.

Of course no Valentine's Day would be complete without a little crafting, so we (I say 'we' but honestly, I was just eating those cute little hearts) set out to do both some fruit snack eatin' and some holiday gift makin'. My son took out his sweet little stickers that Welch's sent him, along with some other handy, dandy supplies perfect for creating, and he got busy.

He's nine-years-old now (update, he's 11 now, but he still loves Welch's fruit snacks AND crafting), but thankfully still likes to do things like this (as does his sister who is now all grown up). ;) In this picture you can see the actual colors and shape of the fruit snacks. Of course they taste delicious too (fruity, and not too gummy!), like Welch's always does. They were a great addition to the crafting session, because we did this after school, and everyone knows that kids want/need an afterschool snack (it's the first thing they say when they walk in the door).

He's also not too old to forget to go light on the glitter glue. ;) This always happens initially, and then we back up (wipe off the glue) and try again.

Ah, that's better...

The scissors are the kind that make edges on whatever you're cutting, so that was fun for my son. He likes to add that extra touch of special to things when he's crafting. ;)

He made a hanging heart for me, his sister, his aunt, and his little niece. Pretty sure we're going to all love them so (I don't get mine until February 14th, even though I've clearly already seen it). He's tough like that. ;)

Welch's Fruit Snacks are gluten-free, fat-free, and have no preservatives. They also provide you with 100% of your daily recommended value of Vitamin C and 25% of your daily recommended value of Vitamins A & E. Keep an eye out for the sweet little heart-shaped fruit snacks, and maybe instead of sending candy with the kids on the big day at school (we all remember what a big deal it was to pass around Valentine's Day cards and treats in grade school, right?), consider these instead. They are a great alternative to all that empty sugar so many will be sending, and the kids absolutely love them!
