Super Sunday Sync #68

Rumor has it we're about to get a big storm tonight.  The kids are supposed to have their first day of school tomorrow, but it's looking pretty certain that it's going to be cancelled.  The news said that in addition to buckets of snow, it's supposed to get to a record-breaking double-digit, below-zero low.

This is hubby's car already:

Hubby's car is already covered in snow and the storm hasn't even started.

This is the view when I open my front door:

You can see where the cars have traveled from the snow being pounded down by tires, but you can't see any lines.  And our state is broke, so salting the roads where we live, and even on the big roads in town, is not done a lot (and sometimes never where we live).  My son and his wife live in DC and they were amazed at how awful our town is for salting, even on the highways.  It's a shame, really, and can get dangerous too. You have to guess where the lines are, which is doable if you know the road, but scary when you don't.

It sure is pretty outside, but I'm thinking the storm's going to be a real doozey. The news has been non-stop warnings and the city put a warning out that cars couldn't park on the public streets.  Hubby just walked by and said there's a negative degree wind chill factor warning out until Tuesday at 8pm, pushing negative 30 at one point.  If you're in the storm path, stay safe/warm.

And now on to the hop!

I'm so happy I don't live in snow country. Yes I am.

Stay safe and warm. ☺

Oh I love snow and think that your pictures are beautiful!! But we're not expecting the snow, only the double digit below zero temps. And I DON'T love that! High winds threaten electricity!! Eek!

Thanks for hosting!

Kate

I'll say a prayer that the storm gets blown off track and you're spared :)

mail4rosey said...

I wish I could say the same. ;)

mail4rosey said...

I am crossing fingers and toes our electric doesn't go out. I'll do the same for you. :)

mail4rosey said...

You stay safe and warm too!! Thanks for the well wishes, and for linking up.

Lynn Blaylock said...

Wow..it's been icy around here a little but no snow yet.

mail4rosey said...

You're a gem. I saw you guys got a lot of snow too!

mail4rosey said...

ohh, I just saw your white chili chicken recipe. Hubby's going to want to try that, I already know! Thanks for linking up!

Oh my that sounds like an adventure. It must be fun being stuck in side but for to long, it can be frustrating. I hope the kids are doing well.

looks like where i live to some degree... :D

I do not miss the snow! I now live in SC but originally from NJ.

Petro Neagu said...

How on Earth have I missed your party before, Rosey? Shame on me.
I know a snow storm is not a pleasant thing to put up with but right now, after spending Christmas and NYE with no snow, I wish I'd have a bit of a storm going on over here.
Hope you'll be safe. Hugs

Janine Huldie said...

Hoping you are all ok and safe. Saying some prayers here and thank you for putting up the linkup tonight, too!!

mail4rosey said...

It's pretty from the windows. As long as the electric stays on, we'll be good. :) Thanks for the visit!

mail4rosey said...

'tis the season. :) Stay warm. :)

Be careful out there!

Oh my that is a lot of snow already and if more is coming that must be a mess. I would love to see some snow here in NC. We had snow sprinkles at the end or October or beginning of November but nothing stuck. Still was beautiful. I can't imagine being somewhere where you get so much snow. Our high for Tuesday is going to be 19 and I m not looking forward to it. I bet your kids love the snow thought.

mail4rosey said...

I never missed it when I lived down south either. :)

mail4rosey said...

You can have some of ours if you want, I'm happy to share a bit of it. :)

We missed last week and got a slow start this week (on the hop), pretty sure it'll be back up and running right next week. Holidays do have a way. :) Thanks for linking up!

mail4rosey said...

We sure got a slow start, but I think it's not unexpected w/the holidays. :) Thanks for always linking!

mail4rosey said...

I'm hibernating. :)

mail4rosey said...

The kids really do love the snow. :) You're lucky to be somewhere warm (though I'm surprised it will get to 19, oy!).

Susan Zutautas said...

Tons of snow here too and expecting freezing rain. They don't close the schools here that often but I'm sure they will tomorrow. Stay safe and warm.

mail4rosey said...

We just got the call that they cancelled them for tomorrow. That never happens (a call the night before). I saw you're getting freezing rain to boot, yuk! You stay safe and warm too. :)

Michelle Feliciano said...

We had freezing rain today and it was super unsafe. Feel bad for my husband who had to go to work today.

Melissa @ My Recent Favorite Books said...

I hope you are staying warm, and enjoying a cup of tea or hot chocolate! =)
Thanks for hosting and Happy New Year!

Binky said...

We're in line for the same storm. Hopefully it won't be as bad as predicted, but this year we've already had a lot of snow and cold and the season has barely started. Be safe!

Pat Hatt said...

Yuck to even more snow, hopefully no power goes out at your show

Launna said...

This snow is insane, apparently we are getting quite the rain storm tomorrow which means if it gets really cold afterwards, we will have a ton of ice... so not looking forward to that.

I hope the storm is not as bad a they are predicting, this cold snap that is happening all over the place is crazy... I hope it warms up soon for them... stay safe

mail4rosey said...

Driving in that stuff is crazy!! I hate it!! My husband will be driving out in it tomorrow and I know he's not looking forward to it one bit.

mail4rosey said...

I did have coffee just a bit ago. :) Thank you for the new year wishes, you know I wish you the same. :)

mail4rosey said...

The cold seems to be going down a lot further south than it has in typically done in the past too. My son called today (he's in Palm Beach) to tell me it was beach weather. He's a brat like that. ;)

mail4rosey said...

Crossing my fingers on that one too! I hate when the power goes out, especially when it's cold. We have the instruction book out for the generator, just in case, but I sure hope we don't have to use it. ;)

mail4rosey said...

You're right, a LOT of places seem to be getting the cold this year. Our summer was not particularly hot either, with days a lot cooler than we were used to having most of the year. Crazy weather.

Heather Jones said...

Omg! Stay safe Rosey! No snow here. Its just really cold. Barely got above freezing today.

mail4rosey said...

Thanks, Heather. The cold is worse than the snow, I think. Stay cozy and warm! :)

Brian Miller said...

wow. you all got dumped on...just cold here but maybe snow overnight they are saying...our first day may be delayed as well...

mail4rosey said...

I don't mind the delay. It's nice to have the kids home that extra day. AND I don't want to drive in it anyway, to get them to school!

Dana said...

Wow! That's a lot of snow. Stay warm. :)

Judy SheldonWalker said...

We are experiencing quite a snow fall ourselves with record breaking low temps. My poor kids live in town and came to visit me this afternoon getting stuck twice on the way and 3 times on the way back home!! Thank God for some kindly strangers who helped them.

Theresa said...

It's looking pretty bad out here too. We are in a emergency road warning state right now. No driving unless it's an emergency! School is cancelled, but thankfully it's being made up in April instead of the nice, warm summer months! Stay safe and warm!

alissa apel said...

You're getting hit to. :( It snowed here, but it was more of a dusty snow. However many schools are closed due to strong winds. It's supposed to feel like -45. I'm sure we have a big snow coming.

mail4rosey said...

Thanks, Dana. :)

mail4rosey said...

That is one good thing about weather like this, people do become very helpful. Glad your kids made it home safe!

mail4rosey said...

We won't have to do a make-up day for this one, it's the first of the year. They've declared road emergency here too...no need for that for me, I'm not going anywhere. :) Safe and warm wishes to you guys too!!

mail4rosey said...

Hokey smokes! It sounds like a good time to hibernate. I hope you don't have to go to work in it tomorrow!

Lisa said...

Looks Like ALOT Of Snow, Hope You All Are Alright, STAY SAFE!!! XO

Veronica Lee said...

Stay safe and warm, sweetie!

Happy Tuesday!

Z @ Kicking Kilos said...

that is WHOLE LOT OF snow. I swear I'd die if I were loving to that..not 'cos its bad, but cos the max I am adapted to is 30 or some degrees less.
In fact I have never really seen 'snow'

Optimistic Existentialist said...

Looks like a winter wonderland! I'm jealous lol!

Alyssa Collazo said...

We got a lot of snow here and the temp was negative, brrrrrr!!! Stay warm

Sofia said...

I heard of the snow storm on the news. How is it going? Keep safe...and send some my way!

mail4rosey said...

We did get oodles of it. :) Thanks for the well wishes. :)

mail4rosey said...

Doing both (knock on wood!). :) Thanks for visiting.

mail4rosey said...

We really did get a lot of snow, lol. :)

mail4rosey said...

Take your fair share, please. I'm so willing to share the snow. :)

mail4rosey said...

You stay warm too!

mail4rosey said...

Not as bad as anticipated. They hyped it up so much that I thought it was going to be so much worse than it was. Better to err on the side of caution, I suppose, where extreme weather is concerned.

All is well, though it IS cold. And you can have as much of it as you want...feel free to take all that you want (no returns). :)

Sonya M. Jones said...

I'm glad it's coming your way & not mine! After 16 days of Christmas Break these kiddo's are going to school & hubby is going to work! Mama needs a real break now! lol

mail4rosey said...

We just got the call that the kids'll be out Tuesday too. :)

It's hard work for the mom's when the house is full. Nice work, but very busy work nonetheless.
