Soccer Saturday

Today was Game #4 for the Kindergartners and it's so fun to see them learning. The progress they've made with the weekly practices and games really showed today on the field. I felt like they had a clue of what was going on, and weren't just out there to kick a ball.  If the coach was talking defense, they knew what that meant... if he was telling a player to walk the line, he/she knew what that meant, and so on and so forth.
We have a little girl who's about 6ft' tall (not really!! but she's a lot taller than the other kids) who dominates the field. She's really good, and of course can outrun everyone because her legs are longer. I've seen her mom at every practice and game, but never her dad. Today dad showed up, in a coach shirt, cheering his baby girl on. Her's dad's a soccer coach (for her older brother's team). That explains a lot.

I'm just glad she's on our team. ;)

That being said, everyone had a good time. All of the parents behave, and I like that...I've seen games (not w/this child) where that wasn't the case.

Afterward we stopped at the park (just a short walk from the field):

And when we got home we were greeted with this:

All the trees have at least some leaves on them, and I love, Love, LOVE this beaaaaaaaaautiful time of the year!

Today is a great day.  Happy weekend to you. :)

  2. When my Kid was playing last year, they had the shortest and the youngest member on the team who was SO good he could outrun almost anybody even though he had the shortest legs :)

  3. How I hate seeing the parents misbehave at a game. It so teaches their kid to be a poor sport.

    1. My second oldest played t-ball, but it was in south Florida and he would swelter out there on the field, so he only played it the one season. He never did go back (he took up basketball and wrestling, both inside sports for years, and then football when we moved up north). :)

  8. Isn't it sad that, far too often, parents should be taking lessons from the children in good behaviour.

    1. So far, so good this season. I've even heard parents politely telling their kiddos not to thumbs down (or whatever similar) the other team. Woot!

  10. We do T-Ball on Saturdays, but no soccer for us. My oldest tried it and didn't like it, but my little man showed no interest at all.

  22. The weather was definitely beaufitul Saturday-especially in the afternoon here when the sun started peaking out! :-)

So good to hear that the parents are well-behaved and that his soccer team is having fun! My little guy will porbably be in soccer in the fall for his 2nd season. There is no spring soccer here.

    Looks like a perfect day.

And as a mom with a soccer son, I've seen the nasty behaviour of parents. So sad. Glad they showed good sportsmanship supporting their tots.

Spring is one of my favorite seasons.
