Wordless Wednesday

The Colosseum

The Roman Forum (side by side with the Colosseum)

Those were my favorite boots, but the streets of Rome claimed the heel.  Lesson learned...pack sneakers when traveling. :)

Beautiful shots! It must have been so wonderful walking around Rome. Lovely boots! I am sorry you lost the heel. Happy WW!

Lovely photos! I wore walking shoes in Paris for just that reason. Relief! I climbed so many stairs, I think my legs would have given out in heeled boots!

lovely photos. xo

LOL! Poor boots! I think I always wear tennis shoes or low heels. Great pictures. I can't wait until I get a chance to go.

jMo said...

Oh for sure pack a few good pair, although I remember the Italianos loving to dress up. I say be a tourist & protect ur wallet & feet.
Was it wonderful?

Jennifer Leigh said...

I bet that was an amazing trip!!! And I've learned the hard way about bringing good shoes too!

mail4rosey said...

Yes, wonderful! One of the prettiest places we've been.

mail4rosey said...

lol, I used to miss them so. :)

mail4rosey said...

Thanks for stopping by, Judy. It was wonderful!

mail4rosey said...

It was so pretty I'd love to go back. We missed some things, and The Sistine Chapel was closed when we went.

mail4rosey said...

And I would love to spend more time in Germany. Your castle pics were great!

mail4rosey said...

It was raining the first few days when we came out (but still lovely). When the sun came out it was a whole different city. The steps came alive, artists were out, people were everywhere! It was an amazing transformation!

Paula Miller said...

That must have been such an amazing trip!! Bet you had a great time even though your shop broke :(

Happy WW and thanks for linking up!

Seems like a lot of places in Europe have a ton of stairs. :) Those heels were MORE comfy than sneakers or flats...but generally, you're right...:)

mail4rosey said...

Thank you. I was looking through your black and white abstracts this morning, and they're great!

mail4rosey said...

Thanks, Katherine. :)

mail4rosey said...

It's hard to have room for shoes too, because you don't want them to get squished. Someone should invent a shoe travler that doesn't take up a lot of room but still protects your shoes, lol.

mail4rosey said...

It was pretty, and probably the best place for pictures that we've ever gone.

Lisa said...

What beautiful photos! There is truly nowhere like Rome! :-)

mail4rosey said...

Thank you, Lisa. It was a nice trip. Seeing the pics makes me want to travel (but it doesn't take much to make me WANT to travel). :)

Theresa said...

So beautiful. Rome just seems like such a laid back place. I'd also love to see it in person some day!

WOW a very pretty place to be!

Kristi said...

Sorry to hear about the heel on your boot, but I can't think of a better place to lose it! lol! The Roman forum is amazing.

Cathy Kennedy said...

WOW, is all I can say! Rome. WOW! Travel photos are always the best. Too bad about your heels. Definitely need to be wearing sneakers. LOL Thanks for visiting today. Now following! =D

mail4rosey said...

It is laid back, that's a good description! And there's great shopping if you can afford it (which we couldn't, but the Gucci store was sure fabulous to look through ;) ).

mail4rosey said...

Very pretty!

mail4rosey said...

That's what I was thinking when I posted the caption, lol. :) What better place to lose a heel?

So sorry to hear about your favorite boots, but it looks like you had a fabulous trip:)

Enjoy your pictures. I've been to Milan and Bologna, but not Rome. That must have been a great trip for you -- okay . . . except for the boots. Sneakers are the way to go with some dress shoes for special occasions.

Melanie @ Whimsical Creations said...

Beautiful!! Someday I would love to visit there.

PS...sorry to hear about your boots. :)

I would love to see both...there's so many places to see, but so little time to do it. Wish I'd have started the love of travel much earlier in my life. :)

Wow! My husband visited Rome last year, and really enjoyed it. We're moving to Spain next year, so maybe I'll get my chance to travel over to Italy.

mail4rosey said...

My daughter wants to visit Spain. :)

Rose-Marie said...

I'm laughing because before I read your caption, I was looking at your boots, wondering how you managed to walk around with them! I've had to walk all the time now, and my gorgeous shoes and boots sit there collecting dust! what's a gal to do!!!! Another fun and unbelievable vacation. You have got me thinking I can't wait to go on a nice vacation!

Oh, to be able to travel! I was in Canada once (for 4 hours) about 40 years ago - Niagra Falls in FEBRUARY - the Falls were just about frozen and so was I. That was my "trip abroad"! Even missing the boot heel - you look great - I envy you!

mail4rosey said...

We'd love to go to Canada, there seems to be so many places there that would be wonderful to visit!

mail4rosey said...

Those boots were as comfy as any sneaker. I was so sad to see them go, lol. If you're going to lose a heel though, it might as well be in Rome, yes? :)

Traveling makes me happy. I'd do it way more often if I could.

Breanna Reilly said...

wow, looks wonderful! I am now even more inspired to go than I already was! thanks!

It really is so pretty. I loved everything about it. :)

Masshole Mommy said...

Bummer about the boots! This sounds like an amazing adventure. Someday I will make it over there. I have never been out of North America.

mail4rosey said...

Ah, but you've been to California, and I have yet to go!! I'm crossing my fingers we'll get out there this summer.

MikiHope said...

Any serious walking should be done in sneakers! I'm sure the trip was worth losing your heel to your boots-were you able to get them repaired?

mail4rosey said...

I did not have them repaired. If I had been home I would have, but I just let them go. And you are so right about sneakers. I always take a pair now, just in case.

becca said...

wow I'm so jealous of your traveling next time please take me with you.

Couponing Away Debt said...

Wow,amazing pictures. I agree with Becca can you take me too? I have never left the US but would love to hopefully one day.

mail4rosey said...

Traveling is one of my favorite things to do. I wish we got to do it more. :)

mail4rosey said...

A lesson well learned for me, for sure. :)

mail4rosey said...

Going through travel pictures always makes me want to travel. ;)

Kristal Deane said...

Amazing pictures! I've always wanted to visit Rome. It looks magnificent! I'll also remember to pack sneakers or flats. :)

alissa apel said...

Those images are amazing! Yes, next time pack tennis shoes.

mail4rosey said...

There are so many places in Italy still that I want to see.

mail4rosey said...

Lesson learned. ;) My thing is I hate packing big and shoes take up so much room, but better safe than sorry. :)

mail4rosey said...

I think I'm finally over my boots. It sure took awhile though. ;)

mail4rosey said...

Travel photos are awesome. I like to visit sites that have them too. :)

mail4rosey said...

Thanks, Wayne.

mail4rosey said...

It was a fun trip, Pamela. I'd love to go back but there are so many other places in Italy to see!

mail4rosey said...

I like the nice, laid back feel that was everywhere! And the warm weather. :)

mail4rosey said...

It was a very nice place to be. :)

mail4rosey said...

And you should! :)

mail4rosey said...

Silly girl to bring just heels. Lesson learned. :)

mail4rosey said...

Lack of traveling on the planner's part (that would be me). ;) It was still a fun adventure despite the heel problem. :)

mail4rosey said...

It was a fun trip. Thanks for visiting!

mail4rosey said...

Thanks, Betty. :)

mail4rosey said...

It was fabulous in spite of my heel not thinking so. :)

mail4rosey said...

You can be I pack flats or sneakers these days. :)

mail4rosey said...

Thanks Sue, and thanks for the visit. :)

mail4rosey said...

mail4rosey said...

Thanks, Joyce. :)

mail4rosey said...

Thanks, Ang! We have a lot of places we want to see in Europe, and a lot outside of it too.

Great pics! They bring back so many memories!!! My family and I go to Sardinia, Italy every summer and often stop in Rome or go south to the Amalfi Coast as a "side" vacation! This was a post (Wordless Wednesday) from last year in Sardinia...you should check it out and make Sardinia your next vacation destination ;-)))

This is on my bucket list. I'd love to visit Rome someday...I love history and Rome looks like it is full of fascinating stories of the past.

clc408 said...

Roman streets claimed a pair of shoes from me too. My feet hurt so badly from walking that I threw them away back at the hotel. Sneakers definitely are best when sight seeing.

Dorothy said...

WOW! I would love to be able to touch and walk where others have walked in that time, simply amazing.
