The Blind

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Experience the incredible true story of Phil & Kay Robertson in the new movie, The Blind. Coming to theaters September 28th!

The Blind opens with a West Monroe, LA swamp scene, set in 1985.

Phil, the main character is a young man who was thrust into the roll of caretaker at an early age due to the state of his mother's mental health and his father being gone all of the time. There were quite a few children in the home, and they were dirt poor. Not an easy setting for anyone to have to take charge, much less a child.

As Phil got older, his natural athletic ability shines and as the star quarterback of the school he begins dating Kay, a kind-hearted but wealthy girl in town. In a tale as old as time, the rich parents make it clear they do not want their daughter dating someone in the throes of financial duress. Much to the girl's heartbreak, Phil decides they must be right and he breaks up with her.

When the girl's father passes away, he shows up at the funeral to show his support and they reunite. He's offered a chance to pursue a higher level of football but turns it down. He marries the girl (one of the best decisions of his life), they have 3 beautiful children. All is well until Phil takes a job working for a person who loves the party life. Despite his initial resistance, he ends up in the thick of it, ruining everything that's important in the process.

The good news is that God is a God of redemption. When Phil kicks his family out, Kay and the kids are taken care of by his family and an opportunity from the local church. They end up in a better place than they were and begin to thrive. Kay though dedicated to her husband, lets him know when he randomly shows up one day, that he needs help.

When he seeks out that help in the form one might least expect it, his life begins to turn around in ways that benefit him and everyone who loves him. This story has a happy ending, one that you'll likely find familiar when you find out that Phil and Kay are part of the family that starred in the long-running smash TV hit, "Duck Dynasty."

Not much of a television person, I have never seen "Duck Dynasty." This movie though, whether you've seen the TV series or not, is one worth watching. Everyone has their own history of trial-and-error shaping them but to see a life, lives! turn out so beautifully when you've trusted the hand of the Lord... well, that's a story worth celebrating.
