I switched schools this year to be closer to home.
At the interview I was told I'd come in with the 7-year teacher salary that I was making at my old job.
At HR I was told I come in at starting pay, period (a few thousand less than I make made).
Then, I was told I have to wait an extra 2 weeks for a paycheck
because the onboarding process took so long.
That was an unexpected surprise.
I haven't had a paycheck since June. 👀😖
This job seems like it is telling you "stop, it is the wrong move", in many ways. Hope it works out for you.
ReplyDeleteIt seriously gave me pause. I've taken up leadership of one of the clubs for a stipend. That will help. :)
DeleteOMG sounds terrible hope its sorted soon
ReplyDeleteHave a tanfastictastic week 👍
Yes, it'll be a tough month but we'll be okay. :)
DeleteThose are the kinds of surprises no one likes. I hope you get paid soon.
ReplyDeleteLOL, no kidding, Binky. I need chocolate. :)
DeleteNot right ~ You teacher's are so important and deserve to be treated well ~ especially with pay checks ~ sigh.
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

I knew the shortcomings going in. It's not the highest paying career I've had, but it's my favorite. :)
DeleteYikes on the pay. I know the administration folks make the money.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. Big hug. ♥
I have that degree and ed. admin experience. Something I've considered but I haven't taken the test to certify. I may this year, or I may look somewhere else entirely. Or I may stay, lol (glad I cleared that all up, hahaha). We'll see. :)
DeleteThat sucks!
ReplyDeleteYep. But I'm thankful to have work! :)
DeleteI am so sorry to read this.
ReplyDeletexoxo
DeleteI'm sorry. Little respect for working people.
ReplyDeleteI also took part in ww.
Coffee is on, and stay safe.
I'll grab my coffee cup! :)
DeleteNot to mention how rich teachers become with the excellent pay! I didn't realize you are a teacher. What do you teach?
ReplyDeleteWe're rolling in the dough. :) High school.
Deleteahhaaahhha...In terms of money, we have no money lmao lmao
ReplyDeleteMany a meme has been made, lolol
DeleteHi Rosey - not good at all ... I see you've made a plan to cope - 'life' at times can stress us. Soon may the dosh arrive ... all the best - Hilary
ReplyDeleteYep, the tough times give us character. But cheers to the dosh, and how! :)
DeleteOh gosh, I hope it all gets sorted soon for you!
ReplyDeleteIt'll be fine shortly. Just coping with the unexpected shocks new work can bring. :)
DeleteThat is insane, no help now but lets hope they back pay you
ReplyDeleteI was waiting for background check and things like that to clear, so there's nothing to back pay. But the thought was nice. :) It'll all sort out here soon. :)
DeleteI worked at a job once where paychecks bounced. You talk about an unexpected surprise.
ReplyDeleteNo bueno!
DeleteI'm glad you're still capable of making funny memes in such a depressing situation. Teachers are too valuable (one of the most important professions for the future of humankind, actually!) to be treated as disposable and have such poor paycheques. I hope everything works out for you and this setback will open the door for something incredible in the future.
ReplyDeleteI’m not a teacher but my friend is and I know they can really relate to this!
ReplyDeleteAs a teacher I can relate so much to this haha and to your story.
ReplyDeleteOhh! I feel sad reading this. Teachers need to be treated well. For me, a teacher is like a second parent
ReplyDeleteThat would be such a pain to have to deal with, it sounds like they did you dirty! Sorry to hear that.
ReplyDeleteWhen I taught we had the option to get paid over 12 months. It was nice to spread it out!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds horrible. I hope this gets sorted soon. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's quite a rollercoaster of experiences during your school switch! It's frustrating how promises made during interviews don't always align with the reality later on. Hang in there, and hopefully, things will smooth out soon. 🙌💪
ReplyDeleteThe system is completely broken. Some teachers do well in certain districts but then others are just left behind and forgotten it seems especially in areas where the school systems are failing. We need to treat all our educators equally and with respect- not just the ones who teach at the elite and exclusive. It's very sad and unfair and ultimately the students suffer from the imbalance. I hope things work out and I'm praying it gets sorted before the new school year starts.
ReplyDeleteI truly hope this gets sorted as soon as possible for you.
ReplyDeleteThat's where our national health-check begins – with how much we appreciate and treasure our the most vital workers, our teachers, doctors, first response personnel.
ReplyDeleteCannot help you with bumping up your salary where it should be or at least where it used to be. To a great regret. Hugs, my awesome blogging sistah and TEACHER of our most treasured kids.
Lol I’m gonna share this with my sister she can relate to this for sure!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear about this. I think my friend can relate to this she is also a teacher
ReplyDeleteOh no that is awful. You'd hope to get a pay rise when moving jobs, and not to mention in advance you will need to wait on your first payment doesn't help if you need to pay bills.
ReplyDeleteWe always buy tons for our teachers at the beginning of the year!
ReplyDeleteOh no, I thought the moving close is a good idea but the paycheck is not good. I'm sorry about this.
ReplyDeleteI though I commented on this one, but blogger is always so dang glitchy. You're truly a saint for still showing up and giving your all even with no pay during the summer!
ReplyDeleteI really
ReplyDeleteHope things get better , keeping all my fingers and toes crossed! - Kira
