(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: School Days

I switched schools this year to be closer to home.
At the interview I was told I'd come in with the 7-year teacher salary that I was making at my old job.
At HR I was told I come in at starting pay, period (a few thousand less than I make made).

Then, I was told I have to wait an extra 2 weeks for a paycheck
because the onboarding process took so long.
That was an unexpected surprise.
I haven't had a paycheck since June. 👀😖

  1. This job seems like it is telling you "stop, it is the wrong move", in many ways. Hope it works out for you.

    1. It seriously gave me pause. I've taken up leadership of one of the clubs for a stipend. That will help. :)

  4. Not right ~ You teacher's are so important and deserve to be treated well ~ especially with pay checks ~ sigh.

    1. I knew the shortcomings going in. It's not the highest paying career I've had, but it's my favorite. :)

  5. Yikes on the pay. I know the administration folks make the money.

    1. I have that degree and ed. admin experience. Something I've considered but I haven't taken the test to certify. I may this year, or I may look somewhere else entirely. Or I may stay, lol (glad I cleared that all up, hahaha). We'll see. :)

  7. Not to mention how rich teachers become with the excellent pay! I didn't realize you are a teacher. What do you teach?

    1. I was waiting for background check and things like that to clear, so there's nothing to back pay. But the thought was nice. :) It'll all sort out here soon. :)

  12. I worked at a job once where paychecks bounced. You talk about an unexpected surprise.

  13. I'm glad you're still capable of making funny memes in such a depressing situation. Teachers are too valuable (one of the most important professions for the future of humankind, actually!) to be treated as disposable and have such poor paycheques. I hope everything works out for you and this setback will open the door for something incredible in the future.

  14. I’m not a teacher but my friend is and I know they can really relate to this!

  15. As a teacher I can relate so much to this haha and to your story.

  16. Ohh! I feel sad reading this. Teachers need to be treated well. For me, a teacher is like a second parent

  17. That would be such a pain to have to deal with, it sounds like they did you dirty! Sorry to hear that.

  18. When I taught we had the option to get paid over 12 months. It was nice to spread it out!

  19. That sounds horrible. I hope this gets sorted soon. Good luck!

  20. Wow, that's quite a rollercoaster of experiences during your school switch! It's frustrating how promises made during interviews don't always align with the reality later on. Hang in there, and hopefully, things will smooth out soon. 🙌💪

  21. The system is completely broken. Some teachers do well in certain districts but then others are just left behind and forgotten it seems especially in areas where the school systems are failing. We need to treat all our educators equally and with respect- not just the ones who teach at the elite and exclusive. It's very sad and unfair and ultimately the students suffer from the imbalance. I hope things work out and I'm praying it gets sorted before the new school year starts.

  23. That's where our national health-check begins – with how much we appreciate and treasure our the most vital workers, our teachers, doctors, first response personnel.
Cannot help you with bumping up your salary where it should be or at least where it used to be. To a great regret. Hugs, my awesome blogging sistah and TEACHER of our most treasured kids.

  25. I am sorry to hear about this. I think my friend can relate to this she is also a teacher

  26. Oh no that is awful. You'd hope to get a pay rise when moving jobs, and not to mention in advance you will need to wait on your first payment doesn't help if you need to pay bills.

  27. We always buy tons for our teachers at the beginning of the year!

  28. Oh no, I thought the moving close is a good idea but the paycheck is not good. I'm sorry about this.

  29. I though I commented on this one, but blogger is always so dang glitchy. You're truly a saint for still showing up and giving your all even with no pay during the summer!
