Having been in the church for awhile, and having once been a Sunday School Teacher (many years ago), I understand that the Bible isn't always easy for kids to understand. For the younger crowd, there are plenty of children's Bibles with great graphics and stories broken down to be at the primary level. It always seemed though, that the tweens and teens were kind of left hanging. That is true no more! The TEXT Bible was created with students, young adults and new believers in mind. It uses a new and easy to remember TEXT study method. 'TEXT' in this instance, being used as an acronym for the following:
It uses Bible engagement techniques to appeal to those at any age or stage of their spiritual development. In addition to adding common questions and prayer prompts, the TEXT Bible also includes tips that are easy to understand.
Terms that are fairly easy to understand for those already deeper in the Word, such as 'omnipotent, omnipresent, or omniscient' as seen above, are explained in easy-to-read definitions on the corners of the pages. Readers will appreciate these and other text features which are designed to assist them with undertanding what it is they are reading.
Honestly, I've been reading the Bible for a long time and I still found some of the guidance useful. For example, did you know the 'Sanhedrin' were the judicial and administrative council of the Jewish faith who were responsible for charging Jesus with the crime of blasphemy? I knew he was charged but I did not know it was by the Sanhedrin, nor did I know who the council was comprised of to have the authority to carry out the charges. I found these notes and tidbits to be fascinating. They take things I've read, time and time again, to a deeper level.
Some of the vocabulary I did know but putting myself in the shoes of youth or someone who has never picked up a Bible, I can see where these terms can be very beneficial. If you listen to sermons, or read the Bible, you've heard the term 'disciples' enough to know the working definition, but that is not true for everyone. I appreciate how thoughtful the TEXT Bible is with accommodating those who might need or value the extra support.
It is nice to see a focus on our youth. As a parent, grandparent and teacher, it is obvious that I have a soft spot for today's children. Giving them the tools to help with their spiritual journey is very important to me, and I appreciate The TEXT Net Bible for providing a most excellent tool to aid them in their reading and discoveries.

ReplyDeletesounds very handy. all the holy books seem very hard to approach without much beforehand preparations. I have always felt very uneasy before my first time reading, I had a feeling I wouldn't understand it. thankfully I managed to finish it and learn a lot out of it even after my first go. your post helps a lot to address such an issue.
