I don't usually watch movies that depict blatant and hurtful racism because they cut so quick to the bone. Treating people unfairly for any reason has never set well with me. It's painful to watch, especially when it's based on the color of ones' skin. So, when I started watching Paul's Promise and it took a turn in that direction, I was a little apprehensive. Thankfully, those involved with the movie did not let it get to an unbearable pulse, while still making sure it was a central part of the story because after all, this was set during the Civil Rights Movement. I think it turned out to be a really good movie. Even better, when I found out at the end, that it was based on a true story.

Parents, you won’t want to miss this encouraging film about the power of a praying mother. If you're holding out hope for a prayer to be answered for your children (even if they are adults), this is a very inspiring film.

It’s one man’s journey to hope and healing during a troubled time in our Nation’s history that resulted in one man’s decision to serve God and stand up to injustice - a story that continues to make a huge impact on the community to this day.

Of course, parts of this movie had me crying like a baby. This movie just really pulls on the heartstrings at times, and due to the content, of course if it was well done (and it was) it would tend to make one lean emotional. I liked it so much that I'll be taking my sister-in-law to see this over the weekend, if I can peel her away from her gardening.
