OurPact Parental Control App also has a Family Locator

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. This app, however, is one that I fully approve of, support and am happy to share with my readers. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

OurPact helps your child make digitally healthy decisions with ease.
So many great features, simple to pair and use, and it can be downloaded to iOS or Android phones and devices.
OurPact is an app we have recently come across that has allowed me to rest easy with my decision to get my 12-year-old son a phone. Quite honestly, I was struggling with the idea of him going from zero to one-hundred when it came to having Internet access, and while I have used parental controls in the home, I did not know if there was such a thing for a phone. Turns out there's an app for that, lol. Of course there is!!! And it works wonderfully well. In fact, it does so much more than I could have ever considered, and in addition to helping my son be safe online, it also helps keep him safe in other ways as well!!

This app truly allows you to feel good about allowing your child to own electronic devices. Everyone seems to have them, and you don't want your child to feel left out, and they really can be quite useful. There is a healthy balance that needs to be maintained, however, and making good choices with something so tempting is not always a given for this age group. My son, for instance, would much rather look up the latest information on a game he is smitten with, or his favorite basketball player than he would sit and focus on academics after the school day is over. Having a phone in hand can prove far too challenging for him to resist the urge to pull up something else when he is supposed to be doing his homework (some of which does require an Internet connection), so having an app that helps him see what healthy technology choices are, matters a lot to me.

You can use OurPact to schedule screen time, turn screen time off, block certain websites or functions, or block everything until you say so, using the app. The best part is you can do it from anywhere. So if you are still at work when the kids get home, or you don't want your children surfing the Internet at school you can turn it all off from anywhere you happen to be at the time. It takes about 30 seconds to do, and is not difficult to use at all. You can also choose which apps are blocked, including the camera (which is another item that can keep kids up at night because they like to make videos to share on social media later). Fully customizable, you can choose to have all apps removed from their screen until you say, or you can pick and choose which ones you would like to leave for them to use at any given time. This is an extremely flexible app.

For those children who might be tech savvy enough to try and delete the app from their phone, there is a setting for that as well. Only the parent can remove the app, and they have to log in first, to be able to do so.

The only person who can remove this app from a phone
or device that is paired with is YOU!
This is a screenshot of what your child will see if they try to remove the OurPact App. Honestly though, if you sit and explain to them the reasons why it is important for children to have safeguards while they are on the Internet, they will understand, and even come to appreciate it (if not now, definitely later in life when they look back on it). It is our job as parents to help our children make good decisions, and when it comes to screen time, I do not take that responsibility lightly.

While all of this is well and good, and absolutely important, there is also a feature on OurPact that allows you to monitor where your child is when they are not at home. You can track their location naturally or you can set up custom Geofences, and if they cross a designated line, you get an alert. My son likes to have friends over, but he also likes to go to their homes if he is out playing in our neighborhood. Usually I can just look out of a window or step outside and see them, and I can definitely hear them many times, but if I cannot, with this app, I would still be able to locate him. Also, if he goes outside of the neighborhood (for example when he and his bestie are riding their bikes or scooters around the block), I will instantly get an alert showing me where he is located. The alert system works great, and it really helps me have more peace of mind about letting him get out to play (using an electronic device to increase outdoor play time? Now that is a switch). 😅

There are three plans you can use with OurPact; one of them is FREE, and the other two are very reasonably priced, with the most extensive option (Premium) being just $6.99 a month! The options available on that subscription make it very much worth purchasing, and I do highly recommend it. That premium option allows you to pair up to 20 devices, so it is perfect for the home that has multiple children, with multiple devices. You can sync them all in harmony, or use the controls individually, as you see fit. This app has given me the confidence to allow my child to have his phone with him at school and during playtime. I could even suspend the 'all phones on the kitchen table' rule at bed time (since I could temporarily remove his apps with the touch of a button), but I won't. I like that rule. :)

  3. I'll have to try that out. Mica and Isaak have Samsung's, Travis and I have iphone's. It makes it hard to understand the boy's phones. I just want to make sure we can find them! I also didn't want to spend an arm and leg on a phone for them, because they are clumsy. We do have a different app, for finding them. I'll have to try this though.

  6. What a great idea.

My gr-daughters rec'd iPhones for Christmas, one 14, the other 15.5. They are obedient as their parents tell me. I trust them, at least at this age. The phones are a safety issue, has some sort of limitations in it.

  13. That is sure a great one. Cell phones have a use, for safety, but all the other crap for a kid, nope, I'd block it all.

  14. It's nice that parents can really use technology to add security for children. The world is getting more dangerous we need additional tools like these.

  15. hahaha. I like it that you can have a say on what app and sites our kids visit even when we are not present or near them.

  16. I love that the app can't be deleted by anyone but the parent. We struggled with keeping controls on Leah's phone because she could just delete it right off. I like that this app seems to have thought of everything that a parent needs for peace of mind when their child gets a phone.

  33. My soon to be husband's exwife uses something like this for their 11-year-old's cell phone. These are great apps and definitely protect kids from some of the more inappropriate content on the web.
