Every year around this time I talk about Welch's Fruit Snacks and how they are a great alternative to all of the sugar getting passed around on Halloween to our kiddos. Fortunately, they are every bit as delicious as candy. They are also made with real fruit, and come in cute little designs for the holiday. They are delicious and kids like them, so buying them is a no-brainer for me. This year, however, we have added some new ideas into our treat-giving fun by also getting the gummi and sour gummi variety pack from Gummi FunMix. We couldn't resist giving them a try. Why? Because my youngest loves all things sour, and one of the gummy pack types is called Sour Party. I was anxious to see his reaction.
Here is what they look like when you take them out of the pack.
And here is the brave child who decided he was going to try them all at once, like his friends do with their sour candy in the lunchroom.
And let's be frank (do you see what I did there? lol), it was probably not his best idea. So, he begged to switch to the gummy version that wasn't sour. And then he drank a glass of water, with ice. A big one. And I laughed.
I asked him if he wanted me to take the sour ones to school for my students, and he said no. He just wanted to be more conservative the next time he ate them, and have one at a time. LOL!
I really like that you can get the gummies in a duo pack that has Original Gummi Party and Sour Party. Variety like that makes it the perfect treat to pass out for Halloween because some kids love the sour type, and others, not so much...
So we kept the Gummi FunMix Candy this time, for my son and to pass out on Halloween, and I took the Welch's Fruit Snacks, with cute Halloween shapes, to school.
As I was teaching my lesson, I said, 'like if I was going to pass out these adorable Halloween-shaped fruit snacks to you, which I am in one moment,' and the kids perked right up. It was like magic. I should have thought of something like that earlier. All of the sudden all eyes and ears were on me. I could have gotten them to recite the Gettysburg Address if I had wanted (kidding, sort of). ;)
I actually do pass out treats from time to time, but these are extra special because of the shapes. You can see there is a witch, a pumpkin, a bat, a ghost and a haunted house.
Of course, my taste-tester wanted one for himself, even though he's had these several years in a row for Halloween. ;) This is the kind of snack I am happy he wants to eat, so I agreed.
The flavors are mixed fruit and the kids gobble these up as fast as they would any kind of candy. There is virtually no mess, and you can carry them with you anywhere you go because they come in little packages. My favorite thing about them is that they are so flavorful. You can taste what type of fruit they are when you bite into it. I guess that's because they are made with real fruit. We'll be picking up another box of the fruit snacks for home, and for trick-or-treating, and we'll probably pick up a third box for my BFF's house while we're at it because she has a sweet 4-year-old who is there as often as she's not (and that's a fun thing). :) You can buy them in retail stores everywhere! I highly recommend them, or the Gummi FunMix Variety Pack for those trick-or-treaters who are soon to be knocking on our doors.
