My First Workout: Official Workout Programs Designed Just for Kids!

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

So, my son was very excited when this box showed up on our doorstep because it's a package he has been looking forward to seeing. Some of you know he is in basketball, and that this season he was placed with students far taller and with more weight and strength than him. The last game of the season (the seasons run year-round) was today. If he gets placed with high school kids again (he is just leaving 5th-grade), we will ask for him to be moved back to his own age group. He honestly did not enjoy the season, but stayed in because he didn't want them to think he wanted to quit (kid logic). :)

So, there were some pros and cons to this particular season, but one pro is it sparked a fire in my son to become stronger and more fit (he's not unfit, but it's always a pro when your child is aware of making good choices for their body). One way to do that is with My First Workout. This is a program designed specifically for children, by a physical trainer of 20 years, so you can bet she knows what she is doing. The one thing that I was surprised at right of the bat, is the quality of this kit, INCLUDING the storage container it comes in (then I realized it is more than a container to hold things, it is also an aerobic step). Everything is high quality, and heavy-duty.

Let's discuss what is in the kit. You get an exercise mat, a jump rope, two sets of free weights, a 5 lb. sandball, a wrist band, Exercise Program 1, and the aerobic step, which also seconds as the container that holds everything.

Now there is more than one exercise program, but you only do them one at a time, progressing through them as you are ready. It is recommended that you take about 4 weeks for each level. The exercise programs are available on the website for a very reasonable price, and they allow you to utilize the items in the kit. It's a great way to get your kids moving and teach them new skills while encouraging them to stay fit.

We are excited to see how the program goes. My son is really looking forward to the strength training, as having the basketballs thrown so hard to him by the big kids, really had him miffed. I think it will be beneficial to him in more ways than strength training, but I am glad he is looking forward to that element as well. Whatever gets the kids wanting to exercise instead of vegging out in front of a screen, is a-okay by me! Learn more by visiting the My First Workout website. 1. Stinks that he didn't have fun with the bigger kids, but at least now he knows and is putting the experience to good use and getting stronger. Sounds like a good kit and program indeed for the kiddos.

  2. Many kids don't get much physical activity these days so a lot of them could use this.

  3. This is so awesome! My boys are much younger, but they enjoy "getting their exercise" too. I haven't started any weights with them because of their ages, but we do some aerobics together in addition to riding our bikes. It's so important that kids learn to be healthy and fit at a young age!
