I got a new camera and IT IS AWESOME!

Family Post. All of my children have contributed in one way or another to the blog. My favorite way is when they publish a guest post. My oldest son has kind of taken a liking to it (hurrah) and has expressed his desire to become a regular on the blog. I'm always happy to do things with the kids, so I'm particularly delighted that he's taken an interest in a hobby of mine that I really like to do. As for this particular post, let me interject that I'm pretty happy he purchased a new camera. I'll take this kind of 'left over' (his previous camera) any day! The only thing I've added to the post is the very first picture, which is of him with his new camera, that I took with his 'old,' which is now my 'new' camera. 😎

Hey everyone it’s Carmelo again, as the post says I’ve upgraded.  My Canon Rebel T4i has been retired, well technically passed on to my mother.  Side note… she has wanted a DSLR for eons but never took the plunge.  I bought the T4 back when my daughter was going to be born because I wanted to capture every moment in the best detail I could afford at the time… There were more important things to be buying at that time than a camera…like a crib. 😊 I would have to say that’s where my passion for photography really started.  I was still busy in the Army and being a new first time father so it was more a hobby than anything else.

Fast forward oh gosh five and a half years, I’m well adjusted to the “civilian” life, going to Texas this Monday for a month thanks to a job opportunity, and my hobby for photography has grown into a desire to create a career traveling the world on the dime of my own creative expressions.
Um another side note, I’m going to vlog my entire trip to Texas.  I’ll take plenty of photos to post in mom’s travel section too.

Ok enough what’s the camera already?
It’s the CANON 5D Mark IV  !!!!

I have so many plans for this camera, but I won’t bore you with all of them right now.. You’ll just have to stick around and see.

In the mean time I’ll leave you with these.  I took Zoe to the beach after picking her up from school…. kindergarten already….. and we shot some pictures of the local scenery.  I must admit I really do love where I live…

  11. I know the excitement of getting a new camera! I switched from a DSLR to a mirrorless last year and it was the best thing I could have ever done. I travel a lot so for me the size of a camera matters quite a bit.

  16. It does take great shots! I have a Canon as well. It's a mirrorless, lightweight one. I wanted it lightweight because I carry it with me EVERYWHERE. Cannon is my preferred brand, but I know that other brands have climbed up the ladder as well. My Dad has a Fuji, Canon and one other one. Nikon is great as well. That's what my work has.
