3 Reasons I Favor Canvas Prints over Traditional Photos

It is no secret that I love to display photos, especially if they include members of my family and/or places we have traveled that were special to me. Photo Canvas Prints are by far one of my favorite ways to get the best of the best printed and on the wall to display. There are many reasons why I choose to hang canvas over a traditional photo print. I'm going to give you my Top 3.

#1). With a canvas print, you don't have to worry about it getting destroyed by humidity. I live in a state that is hot year-round, and even though I know you should put a piece of clear plastic between the glass and the photo if you're using a traditional print (something I learned that the hard way), I sometimes forget. With canvas prints I don't have to worry about it. They are durable, and hold up to all kinds of external conditions. I appreciate that... I can't tell you the number of times I've lost or ruined a favorite picture because part of the (traditional photo) print got stuck to the glass. In fact, I have one on my wall of my son when he was 1-year-old, that I'll probably never take down because I can't peel off the parts of it that are stuck to the glass without ruining it. It's something you can't see while it's in the glass and hanging on the wall, so there it will stay. Should have gotten it printed on canvas.

#2). Canvas prints have come a long way in terms of clarity. It used to be that a canvas print didn't have the same quality as a photo, but that's not true anymore. We have a huge family print on canvas placed above a family collage of photos (hanging from mini-close pins) that my daughter made me for Christmas. You can't tell the difference between the two. They all look like traditional photographs to everyone who walks into the room. Take a look at CanvasDiscount.com and you'll see what I mean. These prints look crystal clear and amazing!

#3). You can wipe them clean!! What??? You could never do that with a photo. While it's best to wipe down your canvas with a lint-free dry cloth or duster, if you absolutely have to wash it, and lets face it mishaps happen, you can!! When we first adopted our cat, she was a calm and peaceful little lady. She's older, so no antics of a kitten. After a bit of time, we thought we could pretty much predict her behavior. We were wrong.

One day my son came walking through the living room with a big glass of Kool-Aid. Now nothing against Kool-Aid, but let me say that first of all, he doesn't usually drink it, and I rarely buy it, but it came in a kit he had and he was enjoying it. Second of all, I don't like anyone to drink in the living room unless they have a lid on their glass or tumbler. It's just kind of a given. So there are two things that were going on that usually don't. Out of the blue, the cat came barreling in from another room, jumped high in the air and intentionally knocked my son's glass of Kool-Aid out of his hand (and then she calmly walked away). It splashed all over the place, including the wall next to him, and yes, on my beloved canvas. A little soapy water and the canvas (thank goodness) was good as new (I recommend testing a small area first, just to be safe). Had it been a traditional photo, that would have been all she wrote: the photo would have been ruined.  The cat, for the record, has never done anything similar before or since that time. I have no idea what got into her. It makes us laugh now. It wasn't funny then...well, it sort of was, but it really wasn't, if you know what I mean.

Those are my top 3 reasons though, for favoring canvas prints. It's nice to have a photo you love on display. It's even better when it's durable, crystal clear and washable!! I like the way they look without a frame.

I have been so BAD about printing and displaying photos. And I know it’s so important for the kids and our family story. I suppose I never even considered all the options out there! I so value your opinion, always.. so it’s so helpful to know that canvas is a beautiful way to go.

Canvases are pretty cool! I like both, but it is cool they can be wiped off easier than frames/glass.

My OCD always liked that you can wipe them off. lmao the cat just wanted to prove you can clean them of anything.

Oooh, I am so glad you were able to save your canvas print. You're so right. A traditional photo would have been toast with liquids hitting it.

I have a few canvas prints in my house and I actually prefer them. Even after a few years they still look vibrant and brand new. I love them!

I especially like your #1 reason for preferring canvas prints. Humidity can really irreparably damage your photos.
