National Geographic always makes the best when it comes to visual anything, and that has never been more true than it is with this gorgeous super-sized Visual Atlas of the World.
With all of the perks you would expect from a traditional atlas, such as a depiction of the flags of the world,
beautiful photos (more than 350 of them) and maps of the land (more than 200 of them),
and overall views of the world as a whole, this map truly engages you with every page. I have seen and owned an atlas (or 20) in my time, and this one is my absolute favorite. It is definitely staying on my coffee table so that everyone who comes in my house can enjoy it too.
If you've been to my blog before, it's highly likely you know how much I like to travel. When I think of all the places I want to go, Italy is the one that is most enticing to me. I have been to one city there and loved it, and on my mental bucket list, it has the most number of cities I would still like to explore. Sicily...anywhere on the Amalfi Coast for sure, Venice, Milan, Florence, Pisa, Naples...I could go on. If I could take a 2-month trip over the summer, Italy is where I would want to be. This atlas helps me explore the areas I want to visit and learn about others as well.
The captivating visuals make it a wonderful way to open up discussion with my son, about places around the world as well. He's been overseas and liked it, but was really too young to remember much about those trips. This is a way to help him recall what he may have seen or get excited to go over and see more someday, when he is older.
Another place on my travel list is Canada. There are so many areas there I'd like to explore, with Montreal topping the list. I hear it has a European feel to it so I'd like to check it out and see for myself if that's true!
Whether it's the exploration of land or space, no other atlas does a better job than this one from National Geographic.
