Getting the Classroom Ready: Back to School with Oriental Trading

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

School teachers sometimes write up a lists of supplies that make their student's parents' mouths drop when they see them. Why is that? It's because teachers pay for 90% of the supplies that go into their room. Pencils, paper, index cards, staples, and even copy paper if they run out of their quota for the month (and they always run out of their quota for the month). Then you have dry erase markers to use every day (they are not cheap, and they run out fairly quickly), folders, sticky notes, erasers, pencil sharpeners, you  name it. It adds up. One way to help ease the burden is to ask students to bring things in. Another is to shop at Oriental Trading.

They have items that are fun but practical like these great apple snack containers. What teacher wouldn't want some of these cute apple containers to store things in for their classroom?  The apple is definitely associated with teachers, and these are a great way to add a pop of color to your classroom too. They make a useful gift to give to teachers that is out of the ordinary, but still very functional and sure to be appreciated.

Items like these stacking bins can be great to gift, or way to get prepared too. Teachers always need extra storage, and these are bright and colorful, to add a bit of cheer to the classroom as well.

They can be split up however you prefer, so that you can use them tailored to what you like. I like three on the left for an 'in box' and three on the right for an 'out box.'

Oriental Trading also has the useful items teachers use every day at a great price, like Expo Dry Erase Markers and miniature erasers (perfect also for students to use on their mini boards). This is just the tip of the iceberg too, when it come to supplies available. Just about everything you can think of for a classroom can be found very reasonably priced at Oriental Trading. So if you're buying for a teacher for 'back to school' or you are the teacher, check out their site to see what kinds of great items and tools they have for you. Whether you're looking for classroom management items, supplies, or novelties, they really do have it all! be sure to have a look around, and then if you like what you see, tell a friend!

You can learn more by visiting the Oriental Trading website.

  1. Having lots in stock is sure a win and at a good price too. I can imagine how fast things go. Never knew teachers had to pay though.

  2. It's a shame that the teachers pay for so much. It's not like they get paid a lot. The administrators on the other hand get paid a lot.

It's good they have a place to go for fair prices on what they need.

    Have a fabulous day. ☺

  3. Oriental Trading provides a lot of great items. After retiring, I gave away a lot but am not into spending more money on my part time teaching job. I've already spent too much on a wardrobe that fits the school's dress code. LOL! Thanks for the post. If I really need something, here's a new idea on where to look.

  6. It's horrible to think of how little funding our schools get, and even worse that the teachers pay out of pocket for supplies. I try my hardest to send in extra of everything that is requested because we do live in a low income area and I know parents have a hard enough time covering their own kid's supplies, let alone class supplies too. I'll be sure to see what Oriental Trading has off of our school's request list.

  15. We must do our share to help our public school teachers. These people dedicate their lives to help mold our children's futures and they deserve all the help they can get. Classroom supplies should not come out of their paycheck.

  30. Former Special Ed Teacher, teachers really do supply their classrooms out of pocket which is such a shame. But for the love of God let's stop perpetuating the apple thing, we don't like apple stuff just because we teach! LOL :-)

    1. I'm sure the tradition has some kind of valid history, you've made me curious now. I like the teacher/apple association though... :) What I don't like is having to buy my own supplies, especially when I just got hit with another list that's going to run me close to $50, maybe more. I hope this is the end of the 'oh you didn't know you had to buy those?' for this year. ;)
