I Haven't Done a Random Thoughts Post in a LONG Time!

It's been awhile since I did a random thoughts post, and I have a little down time for a change, so... why not?!

First and foremost, while my weekdays have been full of nothing but work, work, work, work, work (blame Rihanna and my kids, I can't say 'work' without that song coming to mind), my weekends have been full of family time!

She's got nothing but bright future paving her way. Love My Girl!
My daughter graduated (congrats baby girl!), and her future is full of nothing but bright. The ceremony was lovely and she looked so beautiful. There were a bunch of us there, every single one of us with cameras and/or phones. When she walked across the stage we got so excited we started hootin' and hollering and not one of us got a good picture. lol!  Thankfully they sold the DVD afterwards. ;)

Look at the dogs in the top picture.
You can barely see them, which is a shame because it looks like they're smiling too!
I spent time with my oldest and his family on Father's Day where they made us an awesome breakfast. It's hard to see in the top photo, but if you look carefully their dogs are in the photo and it looks like they're smiling for the picture too, lolol.

It doesn't take long for the shirts to come off and the faces to get serious
when we head on over to the local park for a little B-Ball.
The second oldest came to visit last weekend. and we drove to the park to get some BBall Time in. It doesn't take long for the shirts to come off and the smiles to turn into concentration. They were both a sweaty mess by the time the game was over, and I think everyone wanted to take a nap from being out in the heat (if I'm not mistaken, we all went to our own places and did zonk out for a bit when we got home, lol). That heat's a bear right now, but it's summer, so we gotta get out anyhow and play.

Doesn't everyone wear their helmet when they climb a rock wall??? LOL
and of course, I always enjoy my time with my baby grand. She was cracking me up wearing her helmet on the rock wall. We brought her bicycle along to the park, and so the helmet was already in place and she was too excited to take time to remove it. I figured it couldn't hurt, in case she fell, ha! Little cutie patootie.

On another note, we've continued to  be involved regularly with volunteer work, which is beneficial in more ways than I have time to express, mostly for us, and I've met some amazing people who are just down on their luck for one reason or another, a lot of whom have reasons that are totally legit. If you ever get bored, or want to reach out to help others, look around to find volunteer opportunities in your area. Nothing gets you over yourself faster than reaching out to those who at this time in their life, need a hand up. A lot of volunteer opps won't cost you a thing either! Don't know where to look? Check Google for your area, local charities and/or a local church!

I'm also, like a lot of us always are, looking for legitimate ways to supplement my income online. I recently came across Jeremy Page, who teaches network marketers how to build a real business. His writing is interesting and engaging and his tips and ideas make me curious. This article, The 50 Best Network Marketing Companies of 2017 is now living in my favorites tab section as a resource for me to refer to over these next few weeks that are ahead. I'm curious about how you make income not only from your own efforts, but also from the downline of referrals you can get. In the blogging business, people do look to our websites for referrals and such, and though I've never been one to dabble much in affiliate marketing or referral type services, I do see so many people who are posting their public incomes from blogging, thriving in both types of areas. Will I make the leap? Maybe, maybe not, I haven't decided yet, but I do have Jeremy tagged in case I want to research more of what he's been having to say. Check him out if you're curious about generating extra income too.

Shifting gears to health... I was in such good shape for so many years and it was easy to maintain. As I get older, I find things are not so easy to keep running, and weight catches up with me faster. I had an especially hard time losing all of my 'baby' weight after my last son was born (never had been a problem before, but I was a lot older this last go around). When it all came off finally, I was pretty daggone happy, but still I find if I'm not active every single day (and my schedule honestly does not allow that sometimes), the weight will come back to visit. I don't like that up and down, so I've been working on investing in my future by eating healthier, exercising when I can, even when I have to start so late that it's night by the time we get back home (see the photo above), and investing in probiotics for good digestive health.

Admittedly, my knowledge on the latter is the sketchiest of my goals, and I do believe in educating myself. This article denoting the five best types of probiotics to take, and this one adding  the best probiotic foods to the list too, have been helpful. I cannot tell you how happy I was to see some dairy items on the list. Giving up dairy would not be impossible for me, but it would so very much not enjoyable. My end goal with delving into these areas is to learn enough about myself at the age I am now, as well as really learning about what is I am putting into my body when I eat, and using that information collectively to adjust my lifestyle so that my weight will remain consistent and my body will be performing at optimum levels. Things are starting to slow down for me a bit, including my metabolism, and if I catch those things contributing to that early, maybe I can slow down the effects of aging a little, rather than having them slowing me down me. If that makes sense. I'm too busy to have to take things at a slower pace...and I don't wanna. ;)

My time off of my dissertation (I've taken two years off) is about to end. I start back up in the Spring, and though I don't have to do everything from scratch, a lot of it I do. I have a time limit in which I have to complete, and it's going to be a process.  It's do or die for this degree now (you can't go back and earn a PhD if you leave, they have time limits in place to adhere to), so wish me all the best luck in being able to complete it. Tuition, time and a receptive committee are all going to pose challenges. I do suppose I can meet them all, but it's a bit daunting to think about with all the surprising life changes that we've had in the last couple of years. It's funny how quickly your most important goals can change. Still and the same, I've come this far, and even though it's going to be a lot of work (2 years, I think my advisor said, with all of the re-dos now required) and costly (ugh), but I've come SO far with this degree, that it seems ridiculous to even contemplate letting it go now. I am going to try to get to that goal line.

As for those life changes mentioned, I've spent two years making solidly good decisions and we've moved forward a little with each and everyone of them. We are getting towards the end of our goal list now, and though the last couple of items on our 'to get to' list are big challenges, I'm not worried. The ones before it were just as big and we met those. I pray a lot, and though I've always had faith that is unwavering, these days I rely on it a lot more than I ever have before. I think that is the difference between my goal making now, and the big goals I've had in the past. I don't just rely on myself anymore. Let Go and Let God. That's where I'm at right now. And oh boy HE brings me to great places. And peace. The peace is my most favorite thing. :)

There's a million other things going on too, including soccer camp, day camp, trips to Chuck E Cheese, the movies ('tis the season, we've seen at least six of them recently. I loved Wonder Woman and my son loved Captain Underpants :) ).

Is it awful that this is one of my most favorite pictures so far this summer?
Look at my granddaughter's face!!!
One of my favorite pictures of the summer is just terrible to laugh at, but I can't help loving it. The little one on the left is my niece, in the middle is my granddaughter and on the right my son. Little miss is going to town with the splashing and the other two occupants of the pool are not so very happy about it. Call me a awful, but I think this picture is hilarious!!! Of course this was just two seconds of their time in the blowup pool at their auntie's house (where we all go to regularly to visit). The rest of the time in there was a blast. ;)

All in all, life is good. I have no complaints. My mom is healthy, happy and busy. My kids are happy, healthy and busy. And I am happy, healthy and busy. What more could I possibly ask for?

So let's wrap it up (I know this post is a lot lengthier than usual). How about you? Do you sing Rihanna's song in your head (or out loud, ha!) anytime someone says the word 'work?' Any big life changes going on (doesn't get any bigger than graduation when you're a teen!)? Do you like to find quality authors to assist your thought processes and actions when it comes to making money online? Are you a proponent of probiotics? Do you think I'm too old to go through the stress of starting over on my dissertation (wait, don't answer that one). ;) Or is there anything at all you'd like to add about something going on in your life? I'd love to hear it...and keeping in line with the theme, random thoughts are of course, totally encouraged.

So proud of her Father's Day drawing for her daddy. :)

Oh and one more thought before I leave... I had my granddaughter in the car the other day. She's 4-years-old. "Grandma Rosey," she said, "that's the ocean and that means we're heading East, we're supposed to be going West!" I almost wrecked my car, ha! Not really, but grandma was very surprised (and impressed). 4-years old and she's giving me directions. I can see who's going to be the brains of this family. ;)

I hope to get caught up on some back posts that are very due. We'll see how it goes. Today was supposed to be my day to work on it, but I may have to put it on the back burner again. We shall see.

Wishing you all a great rest of the week!

  9. Wow, look at you go go go and go some more. Aging can be staved off, body wise, with a good diet and exercise. The key is to find what works for you and stick with it. Screw all those, do this or that trends because they look at people as a whole, which is dumb. Everyone is different and the sooner people realize that, the healthier they can get and stay.

Many a time I find the only ones truly getting rich online are those that tell people how to get rich, pfffft. lol

With your heat, I'd hide indoors with the shirt off, maybe with most clothes off haha

That pic in the pool is rather humorous haha

The dogs do look like they are smiling. It's amazing how they seem to just blend in :)

That grand baby of yours is defining time moving forward rapidly! Love the helmet on haha. Why bother taking it off eh.

    Volunteering is amazing.

I definitely need income supplementing. I've been babysitting and working summers at our church, but we do still need help.

I have been using probiotics also Rosey. And trying to keep up on my exercising.

  19. Hi Rosey, so nice to read you in length! So much to respond to. First off, congrats to your daughter! Wow the last time I remember seeing a picture of her it seems like she was a little girl, certainly nowhere near close to graduating. Time flies!

As far as education goes, we are never too old to fulfill our goals. If getting your dissertation is one of yours, go for it! Going because you have already invested so much is certainly a motivating factor but I think your reason should be because you want it.

Wow to your granddaughter giving directions! And yes the pool picture is funny. We can laugh too right?

I started probiotics a week before my vacation. I wanted to build my immune system since we were changing climates. I did very well for the cruise. When we got back I was overly exhausted and didn't feel 100% so I thought maybe it was a side effect. I stopped taking the probiotics and then I got sick! Ugh. I wonder if I had continued would I not have a cold now. Hmmm.

I'm glad you're in a happy place, that makes me happy to hear. ;-)

I would love to make money from blogging but I never really looked into it. I wouldn't want to have to change my writing style or look though. *shrugs* I don't know. I'll click that link for starters.

As for Rihanna's song, I have that one and a few others on my workout playlist. And you really can't say work work work without singing it. LOL!

    1. That's how I feel when I see Christopher on your blog or social media accounts. It's like who is that young man and where did the little boy go!

The education dilemma is real. Do I really want to get it anymore? I don't know. It seems a shame to go that far and not get it though... it's a once in a lifetime opportunity that may come in handy later. I just don't know. For now I'm planning on going for it and if that changes later, I'm okay with it. :)

Sorry you got sick when you got back. That's awesome though that the germs waited until you got home! That cruise looks oh so so nice. I'd love to take a cruise, and most especially to someplace as scenic as Alaska!

You're right about the Rihanna song, you can't just say it, you have to sing it. :)

      Thanks for the visit!
