Christmas books are a great way to bond, make memories and create family traditions. It's nice to settle down for the night, with a tale or two about Christmas, told in a storybook full of wonderful pictures and stories from afar. Babushka is one such book, and I think my kids are going to love it!
It is the story of a woman who hosts men walking through the land on their way to meet the Prince of Peace. She is invited to go but is too busy doing the cooking and cleaning to make the journey. When she heads out to follow those men a day later, she finds their footprints are no longer visible in the snow, but...
on the journey she discovers some other surprises. Babushka is just perfect for Christmas. The story reiterates that the biggest gift of all is giving to someone who so very much needs it.
Jesus is Born is the second book we will be reading on Christmas Eve. This book conveys the tale of the nativity as it is told in classic form.
It is full of soft art, which goes wonderfully well with the words. This is the story of baby Jesus being born that is the most told this time of year, and what better way to do it, than through a lovely book.
My kids don't know this one is in the house yet. I'll be pulling it out the night before Christmas, to read just before we go to bed. I think it is the perfect way to end the evening, don't you?
