Make Space a Part of Your Florida Vacation! #WeAreGoFL #Vacationauts

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

No one should come to Florida without a visit to The Kennedy Space Center. Even worse if someone lives in the state (*cough*) and hasn't visited yet!! It's one of those things I always say I want to do, but one that I just never get around to doing. Shame on me!! I do plan on going sooner rather than later, it's just a matter of time (and money) to get us there. Fortunately, in the meantime, we can indulge in some space exploration with Vacatiouauts who has launched (pun intended) a campaign to encourage vacationers (and residents alike) to include the viewing of a rocket launch in their next trip (big or small).

Also...just so you know, they keep a running countdown ticker on their  website to show when their rockets launch. That makes it a cinch for you to plan your trip around the specified dates. And think about it...how often do you and/or the kids get to see something that unique? I know I've never seen a real live rocket launch. At 46-years-old, I'm way overdue, and this campaign has got me excited!

Vacationauts has created some very cool items (again, pun intended, I can't help myself) to help promote their campaign. My favorite? The Astronaut Neopolitan Ice Cream!! How fun that you can have ice cream anywhere, any time, no freezer required. And in case you're curious, it melted in our mouths and really did taste like ice cream!!

My son's favorite is the lunch box. He's happy to carry it to school because no one else has one quite like it, and the astronaut theme adds a fun factor. I agree, it's a cool lunch container. The metal ones always take me back (Charlie's Angels, anyone? I know, I'm getting off-topic). Like I said, we had a trip to see a rocket launch in our conversations and thoughts already, but this campaign has really upped the ante for me. I want to push the trip up on the list of things to do, and get there sooner rather than later. I know any age is a good age to explore space, but 9-years-old, yep...that's the perfect age.

Get your child excited about all things space too, by signing them up to be a Vacationaut today! This is a club you don't want to miss. Make space a part of your Florida vacation. Your kids will thank you, and chances are pretty great that you'll end up loving it too.

We Are Go Launches World’s First Space Tourism
Multi-Media Campaign

Brand’s New “Vacationaut” Campaign Implores Visitors to
“Make Space a Part of Their Epic Florida Vacation”

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (September 26, 2016) – We Are Go Florida, Space Florida’s consumer-facing brand is launching the world’s first multi-media space tourism advertising campaign – Vacationauts. The “Vacationauts” campaign encourages those planning a Florida vacation to include viewing a rocket launch as part of their Florida vacation.

The Vacationauts outreach aims to spark a passion for space in travelers, while reminding them that Florida continues to be the epicenter for all things space tourism. The campaign will run across multiple channels including television, social media, digital ads, an informative website as well as an interactive We Are Go Vacationauts app. The campaign looks to build a community filled with space enthusiasts, trip planners, families and Florida-bound tourists.

The look of the Vacationaut campaign draws inspiration from science fiction icons, mid-century tourism imagery and modern technology. “We wanted to tap into space-race nostalgia while captivating a younger audience,” said Tom Merrick, Vice President and Chief Creative Officer at Paradise, the ad agency that developed the campaign. “Actual space tourism is only a few short years from becoming a reality, so we wanted to lay the foundation for a community of space lovers with interactive games, quizzes and more.”

Filmed at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, the Vacationauts campaign features a series of cable spots and online videos that spotlight a fictional "Vacation Commander." He and his team at Vacation Control let potential visitors know that when you make space part of your visit to Florida, you’re more than just a vacationer. You’re a Vacationaut.

The We Are Go Vacationauts App also features messages from the Vacation Commander and his staff. In addition, the app is home to interactive activities such as personality and educational quizzes, messaging and earnable badges, while also providing access to resources for trip planning, including details about upcoming launches. Within the app, users will find a compass that points in the direction of the next launch as well as up-to-date information on Florida attractions — space-related or otherwise.

Vacationauts can also find a home on the campaign's social media channels Twitter, Facebook and Instagram @WeAreGoFL and through #WeAreGoFL and #Vacationauts. The brand’s social channels explore various local activities, rocket updates and countdowns, app tips and tricks, and serve as a place for Vacationauts to learn, connect and share their experiences.

“We’re confident the We Are Go Vacationauts campaign will captivate space enthusiasts and vacation planners alike,” said Frank DiBello, President of Space Florida. “We look forward to the public’s response and continuing to spread the message that Florida is, and will continue to be, the place for Space.”
