Watch the Birdie! by Nancy Cote

Watch the Birdie, written and illustrated by Nancy Cote is a cute story about friends, and to just what extent good ones will go to, in order to take care of you when you need it. It's a great way to introduce the concept of helping others, or it's just good plain fun to read for recreational and bonding time.

The characters are all drawn cute as can be, and you can tell from the expression on the cat's face in the photo above, that the little one's there might want to be on high alert!

The book is very well-written and the storyline is easy for even the littlest of readers to follow along with too. It was a pleasure to read, and I'm oh so happy to have it in our little library, for when my grandbaby or the other tiny sweethearts in the family come to visit.

This is a nice-sized hard cover book, approximately 10" x 10". I love that it's a bit larger than the norm because that means bigger pictures...and this book has very cute pictures! You can purchase it on Amazon.

Mousey was watching a baby bird when it fell from its nest. The baby bird is okay, but she can’t fly yet! So how will she get back up the tree to safety? Mousey may be too small to get the baby bird back up by himself, but maybe he can find somebody else who can! Maybe a frog can jump high enough. Or maybe a bunny can hop far enough. Maybe a snail will be able to crawl his way up the tree . . .

Will Mousey be able to save the baby bird? Or will the hungry cat get in the way of Mousey’s valiant attempts? Sometimes it’s just the size of your heart that really counts.

Watch the Birdie! is a delightful storybook about bravery and friendship. Nancy Cote’s loyal little mouse is sure to capture the hearts of young readers everywhere. With adorable illustrations and silly narration, Cote has made Watch the Birdie! a truly fun read for all.

For children ages 3 to 6, this is a fun follow up to Nancy Cote's Watch the Cookie! (Sky Pony Press, October 2014). It is the perfect story time book as it teaches kids the value of being a good friend, helping others, and asking for help when you need it.

  2. Learning about helping others is so important to teach the little ones. I've seen some that have no concept of helping others. Very sad.

    Have a fabulous day. ☺
