Blue Apron Lets EVERYONE be a Gourmet Chef! Even Me!

Disclosure: Today’s post is sponsored by Blue Apron and is a part of the Insider’s Program on Bloggy Moms. All opinions are my own.

Instantly cook like a gourmet chef. Really!
Everything was packed in ice. The meat was in its own separate compartment.

I've found something that makes it really look like I know what I'm doing in the kitchen! No seriously, if it makes me a great cook, it's going to be a cinch for you too (because until now, I've been seriously kitchen-challenged).

Confession: One thing I am not, is a chef. I've heard it my whole life, and believe me I've tried. I've taken cooking classes, tried various recipes I've come across, gotten help from family and friends, etc., but still... no. I think because I don't like meat (I've never liked it, not even as a kid) that I just can't cook it. I guess you can't know how to make something taste good if you aren't going to be able to taste it yourself.

Each recipe card comes with step-by-step instructions.
If there is something unusual in a recipe, an extra card to explain is included.
Let the record show, that even though I don't get five-star accolades for the meals I do cook every day (which incidentally do have meat), the kids are eating. Let the record show too, that no one else is volunteering to cook every day, so the job looks like it's going to stay mine. All the more reason I want to learn how to do it well. Now I have four words to say... Thank you Blue Apron!

With the subscription, I'm cranking out some tasty meals, made with fresh ingredients, that my family absolutely loves!

The little brown bags have the small necessities you need.
The product was gorgeous!
Blue Apron is a food subscription service that allows you to order meals and have them sent to your home. You can opt for different packages. I wanted to try it out before making a major commitment, so I ordered the 3 meals (for 2 people) package. I selected the type of meals I wanted (no seafood, not vegetarian) and a delivery date.

On the date specified, a big Blue Apron box showed up on my doorstep. Inside was everything I needed to make the three meals, and I do mean everything (right down to the egg and even the garnish). Packed securely in ice packs everything was fresh and looked great. The little bags you see i the photo above are labeled by recipe, and they have things like seasoning, vinegar, sour cream, etc.

Blue Apron offers meat selections with labels like 'no antibiotics'
and 'premium cuts!'

The meat was packed in its own separate area. Love that the labels note things like 'No antibiotics' and 'premium cuts.'

The little things needed (in a labeled little brown paper bag) for the first recipe we tried.

Above you see the contents of a little brown bag (as mentioned above). This contains everything I needed to make the first recipe.

Some people in this house thought they would not like the Kale Salad...
boy did they have a surprise coming!
When I was prepping the Kale for the salad I got a lot of 'ew's' and 'I'll try it, but I'm not going to like it's." I instinctively knew better, but kept my mouth shut. ;)

Marinating the salad while I do other things.
I added the ingredients to marinate and left it in a bowl to go about my business of doing the rest of the things the recipe needed.

Sweet Potato Fries and Kale Salad were the Sides for Recipe #1
The sweet potatoes were sliced into fries and put in the oven to bake...

Everyone loved this fried chicken!
And the premium cut chicken was dipped, breaded and fried.

The Final Result for Recipe #1: Fried Chicken with Kale Salad and Sweet Potato Fries
The end result for Recipe #1 was sooooo good. Really, it was absolutely delicious! Even the Kale Salad was a hit (remember I had some naysayers for that one). That seasoning made it absolutely scrumdiliumptious!! I couldn't believe it was ME that made this meal!! This is the best dinner I think I've ever made in my whole life, that included meat. Everything was eaten by everyone (except for the vegetarian in the house, ahem, that skipped the meat portion of the meal).

Getting ready to make recipe #2
The second recipe I made was Ginger Pork Burgers with Green Beans as the side. The burger had a black bean sauce added to the mix and to the condiment spread on the bun. The fresh Ginger I used to add to the meat made the whole kitchen smell good!

Who knew we'd all like SeaWeed?? Seriously, it was so good!
And those beans!! Oh how I loved those beans. These are boiled and blanched in a bowl of ice, and then seasoning (among them: Seaweed) was included. I can't even tell you how surprised I was that everyone of us liked the seaweed. It really was the perfect touch to add to these beans.

The Final Result for Recipe #2: Ginger Pork Burgers with Green Beans
The vinegar soaked cucumbers and a touch of Cilantro were added to the burger top, and the black bean spread mentioned above is what you see on the bun (everything was included to make it). Another meal, another big hit. Everyone loved it!

Tonight I'm making vegetarian enchiladas (the last selection from my 3 day-food pack). I can't wait. If they are anywhere near as tasty as the first two recipes were, I'm going to fall instantly in love. :)

Now here's a deal for you. I don't usually agree to do affiliate links, but with this program I have made an exception because I really do love it! It feels so good to actually make something in the kitchen that everyone enjoys. I never thought I'd see the day... I'm grateful.

Each new member gets $30 off or 3 free meals! Click on this link, and then get to shopping by clicking on the Orange 'Redeem Offer' button. If you are interested, and you sign up, let me know how you liked your meals. I'd sure love to hear about it! :)

It sounds good. This vegetarian doesn't like cooking (or handling) meat either. I do it, but...

That looks fantastic. Having everything packaged and portioned is such a great time saver.

This is amazing. I've heard of blue apron before but I've never tried their service. I think it's a nice way to save time on grocery shopping but still being able to cook the meals yourself.

first time hearing of such a sub box! it's awesome for those who enjoys cooking or want to cook but isn't that good with coming up with recipes.

Looks divine. I'm naughty, though, and was hoping (for your sake and my viewing pleasure) there was a naked chef in that big box. Smiles.

WOW they sure do have a ton of stuff! It all looks great too!

That sounds reeeeeally neat. I'm one of those weirdos who actually loves cooking, and shopping for all of the ingredients... and has the time to do it... so it might not be a match made in heaven for me, but I'm still gonna look into it. It sounds perfect for my daughter and her husband. :) Thanks.

Blue Aprons sounds like just the thing for a great date night meal! I think it would be so much fun to have a service like this for me and my husband to make meals together.

This is really fun. I love that you get all the ingredients you need, so you don't have to buy anything that you'll only use once and never again.

Interesting food service you write about here. They plan your meals and even do the marketing for you. Everything short of just cooking it for you. Must be expensive though.

How neat is that?! Blue Apron really looks like a great treat for any family to be able to serve gourmet meals at a low price and with easy instructions!

I'd love to have one of those! I can humbly accept the fact that I won't be a good cook but this type of box just gives me a relaxed feeling that I can also make a proper meal.

Oh how lovely... I've heard of such a subscription before but didn't know it comes with 3 meals. It sure is easier to cook (healthily) for your family even if you're a noob. I think I'll have a go at something similar in SG.

Blue Apron looks like a wonderful service.
I like it also because it allows you to "mix it up" a bit regarding the at-home dinner menus.

Now this is what convenience means! Sure those who are struggling on preparing their meals would find this a helpful companion indeed.

I tried Blue April a couple months ago. The quality of the food was amazing and the recipes tasted amazing! The downside is it really wasn't enough food for my family of 4. (Two preteen boys!)

I used Blue Apron once before. I really like how they include all the ingredients and they offer selections that I wouldn't normally cook. Everything I had was delicious. The only downside was that their meals took more prep time than what I like.
