Sometimes when you're sitting down to read the Bible as a family the kids lose interest. The language is too hard, and to them it seems outdated. Though I love the King James Version myself, the English Standard Version is better for family time. To the best of my knowledge, it doesn't lose things in translation which is something I do worry about with so many versions now available, it just makes it easier to read and understand.
In addition to the wording, this ESV Family Devotional Bible also has 130 key stories written with full color illustrations strategically placed inside where the scripture is talking about the topic/story being depicted in the pictures. It's a clever way to help generate a conversation with the kids. There are also key verses listed and questions for the family. Both tools serve as great conversation starters, story reiterators and ways to help children remember what they've read. An attached ribbon bookmark helps you remember where you left off in your reading.
