What a Great Initiative! #underawareness from Depend with FREE SAMPLE!

I have a story to tell you about my mom. And the very end of the post, I have a sample link to get a free Depend Silhouette Active Fit brief. It's free, so go ahead, give them a try! You'll be amazed at how thin they are, and how discreet. Finally a product that meets all of your bladder leakage needs, no surprise that the product comes from Depend. :)
My three oldest children, my granmda and my mom.
My mom is the one holding my daughter. :)

My mom is an amazing woman. She takes life in stride and reality is just reality. She doesn't try to hide anything or trasform it into something it isn't. The last time I went to visit her, she had Depend Silhouette Active Fit in her closet. Two big bags of them. I asked her about them and she laughed and told me she inherited my grandma's bladder. I do remember my grandma always saying, "don't make me laugh too hard!" and we instinctively knew what that meant, but we never talked about it.

Thanks to Depend, the stigma that used to be attached to bladder leakage is quickly dissipating. Depend provides a variety of discreet products that help people regain their freedom and get their lives back, including: Silhouette Active Fit Silhouette Active Fit for Women briefs: Depend Silhouette Active Fit briefs are a new moderate-absorbency brief that feature a thin design for complete comfort with the trusted protection of the Depend brand and a lower rise+ for an underwear-like look, fit and feel. As a category first, the product is available in black and beige colors.

I put together a gift basket for my mom for Mother's Day. I'm a lot like her in that practical gifts make me happy. You can see from the picture above, that in the basket I already have a Disney Gift Card, fragrance, a bit of make-up, her favorite Sugar Babies, and in the back, Depend Silhouette Active Fit Women's Briefs. That may seem like an odd thing to add to a gift basket, but trust me, she'll love it. I have some more ideas for things I'd like to add too, and luckily I have some time before the holiday arrives to do so.

My mom will laugh when she gets the gift basket, especially since I asked her if she'd do an interview for this post (she agreed and her answers are below). These are great though, they're super thin so you can't see them under clothes...

and they come in two different colors now too (this 10 pk. had beige and black). That's all (10) of them in the picture above, so you can see how thin they really are...that makes them great to wear and easy to store!

So, this is a product to definitely get excited over. And here is the interview I had with my mom:

Interview Questions

Q: When did you first experience bladder leakage?

A: "Oh, I guess it was about ten years ago or so. I was surprised the first time it happened, and I laughed the second time and sent out a thank you to your grandmother somewhere in the universe. Remember, she had the same thing going on. I guess I got it from her. ;)

Q:  How did you go about finding solutions for protection?

A: "You wonder for a second what to wear for bladder leakage, you know when you first go shopping. Depend is all over the news, in the magazines, etc., etc. so it was the first and only brand I tried. Their products work great so I've never felt the need to branch out and try something new. Why rock a steady boat?"

Q. What feelings did you have when you realized you have bladder leakage?

A: "Oh, you know, it's really just one of those things. When it happens, it happens and there's not a lot you can do to change it so you find effective ways to deal with it, you get your incontinence protection, and it just becomes a natural part of your circumstances in life. I don't even really think about it much, actually."

Q. Do you have any tips or advice for others experiencing bladder leakage?

A: "Don't let 'em see you sweat! Get yourself a product that works and forget about it yourself. No need to fret over things you can't change. You haven't changed a bit, and if that's as bad as it gets, well you've got it pretty darn good."

I couldn't agree more.

Depend has an #underawareness movement going on where they have agreed to donate $1, up to $3 million, over the next three years to the Simon Foundation for Continence and United Way for each person who parcipates in the #underawareness movement. That's pretty great, don't 'cha think?

  1. It's a great product and I know because lots of my older friends have told me so. When my time comes I'll gladly wear them too.

    Have a fabulous day. ☺

  2. Great way for her of looking at it, things can surely always be worse.

  3. I am so glad I don't have LBL, but happy for women who do that there is something for them :)

  4. That's one of the challenges we face as we grow older, those uncontrolled bladder activities. It causes a woman's confidence to sink and it's good to know that we have a good support once we reach that stage.

  5. A lot of women have this problem. I worked on the underawareness campaign last year for Depend. I see they decided to bring it back again.

  6. So practical and useful for those with bladder leakage!

  10. I think it's great that Depend is doing something to help stop the stigma of LBL. This is wonderful for many women.

  11. I think it is awesome that there are people out there advocating for something that used to be so embarrassing that no one dared speak of it.

  12. Aw, love that your mom is so open and honest about this and cannot thank her enough for sharing her story here with all of us.

  13. I've tried this product, is really worth to have it.

  14. It's really helpful to the women have this problem,

  15. It's good to know that people can purchase products that are more discreet than they were in the past.

  16. its always nice to know that there are companies who make these things that helps a lot of people who have this problem.

  17. My Mom has dealt with problems in this area for more years than I can remember. When I spoke with my doctor a few years back about it he assured me that it is very normal and that most women go through it. I love that products like this are on the market, to help the women that have issues be able to carry on with their daily life.

  18. I guess I would say I am blessed. I don't suffer from bladder leakage and I don't think anyone in my family does. However, I would still like to thank you for this post and its great that your mom was willing to do an interview. I'm keeping this in mind if and when the time comes that I would be needing protection.

  19. Glad to know this is available.

  20. It's a topic no one really wants to talk about, but when so many women suffer, you have to talk about it.

  21. So many women deal with this, it seems either age itself makes it happen or after having kids. Products like this make life a lot easier though.

  22. I am glad there are products like these for women who have LBL. They are necessary for so many.

  23. I love undies that have a little padding in that part. No leaks!

  24. It's really great to have options. LBL doesn't have to be such an issue anymore.

  25. I love the Underwareness movement. For years, every woman I've ever known with LBL has been so embarrassed by it. It's just a medical condition!

  26. I know there are so many women that have this issue and it is great to see it being brought to the forefront. How wonderful that the solution is so discreet too!
