Photo Books You are Going to LOVE: Mixbook

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

This is actually two Mixbooks identical in content, but different in format.
On the left is the front of the traditional hardcover book (glossy)
& the back of the Premium Lay Flat book (satin) is picured on the right.
On the left is the back of the traditional book
and the right is the front of the Premium Lay Flat book.
Mixbook is not just another photo book company, not by a long shot. I've been getting photo books made for years. I have tried half a dozen companies, maybe more. I have always had one particular favorite that no one else could really live up to...but that is not the case anymore. Mixbook just sent me two different kinds of photo albums, of one very special event (my second oldest son's engagement), and I love them both (the kids and the books ;) ). You can't really see a big difference from the cover. They're both excellently made, have an awesome and very sharp photo quality, and in my case (by choice) they're even the same size.

My traditional hardcover book did not have lay flat pages, but I still love it!
The first book I received is for me. It is the traditional hardcover photo book and I couldn't be happier with the final result. You can see from the picture above that you can spread a photo onto both pages. This type of book does not have lay flat pages, so it does crease the picture down the middle. For me, it's fine, I love it just the same. In this particular picture, you can see my son reaching in his pocket for the ring. She has no clue he is about to propose.

The Premium Lay Flat Book does not have a crease in the middle.
The second book is for my son and his girl. Though both books are amazing, this is by far the better of the two. It is the premium layflat hardcover (you can get either book in hard, soft or leather covers, and with or without a dust jacket). You can get either of these books in a variety of sizes, and you can choose from a good number of layouts, templates, backgrounds, etc., or you can design it yourself. I chose to design this one myself. In the photo above, you see the flat layout. The photo is spread across two pages and there is no crease in the picture. Awesome, right?

Traditional Hard Cover on the Left
Premium Lay Flat on the Right

The Premium Lay Flat book is thicker (it's on the right in the photo above). The pages in both are a great quality, but the traditional is glossy and thinner than the satin, much sturdier quality of paper you get with the Premium Lay Flat.

Mixbook lets you choose the  number of photos,
and the sizes of them too.
Both styles of books allow you to mix and match photos, photo sizes and even allow you to choose shapes for your frames. The photo above is the traditional hard cover photo book.

You can make full-sized photos if you want to fill a page with a certain image.
The Premium Lay Flat also allows you to mix and match, and choose photo sizes. What most impressed me with both of them was the quality of the pictures. No matter how big I blew them up (and you can see that some I made the size of a whole page), they were as clear as the originals.

Mixbook allows you to choose frame sizes and shapes for your photos too,
and you can add text anywhere you would like it.
Again with the traditional, you can see I have a heart shape photo on the left with text and a full-sized photo on the right with no text.

Premium Lay Flat Book...again, no crease and super clear photo quality
Those same options were available with the Lay Flat. In fact, all of the different types of photo books on Mixbook come with a huge variety of options so you can create just the look you want in your books.

I loved both of my books. If I had never seen the Premium Lay Flat book I would have thought my traditional was all of that and a bag of chips. Well, never mind, I do think that anyway...but I must say, the premium quality lives up to its description. It is by far, hands down, the nicest photo book I have ever seen, and it makes a beautiful keepsake for my son and his fiancé. I think this is a book they will treasure for many years to come. If you have a gift you'd like to give someone that stands out as special, or you have an event or something important you'd like to turn into a keepsake, Mixbook is definitely the way to go.

  31. Since the invention of digital it has become a danger that people take 1000's of photos but then never see them again and I really do miss the traditional photo album for that reason so we have now started using photo books as a way to document each year.
