Matthews 1812 House: Upscale Treats for Easter

Chocolate Marzipan Cookies

So...for Valentine's Day I received an absolutely decadent package of Chocolate Marzipan Cookies from Matthews 1812 House. The cookies were about 2" around and made of an almond paste covered with rich, delicious dark chocolate. There was no aftertaste as you sometimes get with dark chocolate, and the subtle but very noticeable almond flavor definitely kept me coming back for more. These are not cookies you buy in a store, they are oh so much better!

Now with Easter coming around, I thought it would be nice to have some special treats in the house. Matthews 1812 House is the first place that came to mind. If the quality of the cookies I had is indicative of the quality for all of their items, and I suspect that it is, there is no other place I'd rather shop for delicious baked goods!

In looking around the online store, I started with cookies (my favorite). Please note though that they have cakes, tortes, fruity treats, salty treats, GF-treats, and so and and so forth. Really, just about any dessert you could imagine, but as for me, I'll stick with cookies: yum! I wanted to try so many different flavors!! Fortunately, Matthews 1812 House is generous with their cookie assortment trays, so that means I don't have to pick just one! Woot!

Extraordinary Cookie Assortment

The first assortment I looked at is called the Extraordinary Cookie Assortment. It comes with 30 cookies total and the flavors included are Hazelnut, Almond, Chocolate Cherry, Pecan, Almond Roll Ups, and Orange Currant Shortbread Rounds. Oh... how I want to sink my teeth into an orange currant shortbread round. In fact, that last one sounds so appealing to me that I was certain this was the assortment I wanted to purchase for our house during the Easter holiday. I knew the guests (and me too!) would LOVE it!!

...and then I came across the Deluxe Cookie Assortment. Decisions...decisions. This one didn't have the orange currant shortbreads, but it did have eight varieties that all sounded just as appealing. Toffee Cashew (what!), Fruit Filled, Marzipan, Molasses, Sparking Chocolate, Cranapple and Lemon/Pecan Shortbread. All good choices to add into a cookie assortment, don't you think? So you can see why I was at a crossroads!!

I'm still thinking, and luckily I have a bit of time before Easter gets here. I may get the Chocolate Covered Marzipan cookies AND one of the assortments (or both of the assortments). Whatever the case ends up being, I don't think I can go wrong. Mattews 1812 House knows cookies! If you're looking for a great place to get holiday (or any day!) treats, this is the place to be.

Its hard to decide which assortment looks better. I guess I would have to see both tins in person to decide - or should I say in mouth.
