What's in that bag?? And doesn't the boy carrying it know that it's pink, which means it's for girls? No matter to my youngest, if we're going somewhere and he wants to bring his stuffies, he's grabbing whatever works. This bag has four storage places including two big compartments, which means my son could really load it up (as you can see), if it was his, which it isn't. ;) That's okay though, you'll see later in the post that he's got a bag of his very own (and yes, for those of you who visit regularly, that is piggy in the upper right-hand storage space).
What makes this athletic bags different from others is that it allows for organization in four separate compartments, instead of being one big carry-all. There's a little zipper pouch for money or small items; a zipper on the outside, and a split interior (for dirty/clean clothes, what have you). The bag has vented mesh windows for odor control and holds shoes, clothes and a size 4 soccer ball (if you're going to use it for soccer). ;)
This bag is made of water-repellant nylon, and like all items sold at One Step Ahead, you don't have to worry about quality. This bag was a little big for my granddaughter, but she still loved it so. And as for the boy, well he had no worries, he got a bag of his own too.
This is the My Camp Backpack from One Step Ahead. It looks like a backpack but it's definitely designed for camping. You can only put and take things out at the top, which makes it perfect for outdoor excursions. I can't count the number of times we've had items in totes and they've toppled over and spilled. No longer an issue.
The straps are nice and padded so they won't chaffe or rub the little ones who are carrying them. Ths is heavy duty padding too, which is nice. If the kids are comfortable with their packs, that's one less thing I have to carry (parents, you know what I mean). ;)

I love the color. We opted for blue, but it also comes in red.

You can clip the front to hold something, like a rolled blanket (such a good idea!). This makes it more authentic looking too, for life in the wilderness, don't you think? :)
The front has a stabilizing sternum strap and that is such a nice feature on a child's camping backpack. You never know what's going to go into a camping pack, and weight can be distributed unevenly for sure. The strap keeps it all equal and far more manageable than bags that don't have one. My son thinks it's a perfect place to clip sunglasses too, which clearly we did not need anymore the day this picture was taken, as it was the end of the day. :)
Another big round of applause goes out from me to One Step Ahead. They are always a favorite of mine when it comes to shopping for the kids, and they didn't disappoint yet again.
You can find these great bags over at the One Step Ahead website where you'll find a lot of thoughtfully designed items for the kids, and where you'll find a lot of unique items too!! If you're doing any shopping for anything at all that has to do with kids, head on over to their website first. You'll be amazed at some of the things you'll find. I know I am. They definitely have a great group of product designers. You can also follow along on Facebook and/or Twitter.

I could use that athletic bag for myself. Mine only has the one compartment and trying to find my keys, phone or cash is always a pain when they get buried under everything else. I'd love separate compartments to keep everything more organized.
