Trudi Hand Puppets with #Giveaway

Trudi Hand Puppets are cute! I'm talking seriously cute! They come with a mom and a baby, the baby being tucked inside the little front pocket. The little one is also a finger puppet. These soft, fluffy little cuties are definitely going to bring a smile to your child's face. In fact, they're very likely going to bring a smile to your face too. :)

Puppet play is fun, but it's also a very beneficial learning tool for the little ones. For example, the use of dialogue is encouraged, empathy and expression of feelings can be role-played, gross motor skills are enhanced, and social and language skills are further developed. Puppets are also a great way to pique imagination, and encourage little ones to tell unstructured stories that are built as they go.

I know I've used puppets for potty training and they worked like a charm. That's just one example, but of course there are many ways you could use puppets for teaching, in addition to encouraging constructive play.

These super soft (and I do mean super soft) puppets are made by the renowned Italian plush maker, Trudi, who has been designing plush toys in Italy for more than 50 years! Every piece is double stitched, machine washable and comes with a lifetime guarantee.

These are also very reasonably prices at just $25.00 a piece. As a gift idea or just something special for your little one, I highly recommend these for your little one to love and cherish.

You can learn more about Trudi, and make your purchase by visiting their website. You can also follow them on Facebook and/or Twitter. You can also see some awesome pictures of theirs by following along on their Pinterest page.

Journal 10 A Great Gift for Dad or Grad

I've seen journals that were blank. I've seen those that were designed for one year. I've never seen one that was specifically for ten years. Do you know what you were doing ten  years ago? Wouldn't it be kind of cool to sit down, open a journal and see what your thoughts were way back when? Ten years ago I was 34. Life was very different for me than it is now, and I wonder what I would have written.

Journal 10 is a great way to document what's going on in your life on just a day-to-day basis. Though most of us are very busy, there's still time to just relax a minute or two and jot down a couple of lines. Doing so each day allows for a trail to be made of how you were, who you were, and what you were thinking.

Also, if you're in the market for a cool Father's Day present, this could be just what the doctor ordered. Give dad the gift of being able to write, of being able to document his thoughts and ideas. It's also a great keepsake or thought provoker for those who just like to write.

Do you know a dad or grad who would be interested in this journal? If so, it'd be the perfect upcoming holiday gift. You can learn more about, and purchase the Journal 10 by visiting the website.

Talking FabKids and Memorial Day

Disclosure: I received a sample product from FabKids to help facilitate the review. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Today is Memorial Day. As always, we'll go to the parade, and when the soldiers come out, I'll start to cry. It doesn't matter that my oldest is now out of the military, I'll still cry. Gets me every time.

After the parade, we'll do the partying. There'll be games, face painting, balloons, bounce houses, and more. And my 7-year-old will love it.

How did I get my son ready for the holiday?

FabKids Denim Rockstar Outfit
First and foremost,

FabKids offers a variety of stylish, comfortable
clothing, loose enough for my son to move around in!
I got him a haircut.

He looks like a whole different kid, doesn't he? Except for the cool Denim Rockstar FabKids outfit he's sporting. That's the same in both pictures. ;)

Super Soft Short Sleeve Graphic Tee

Then I took him to get some eats in his belly. Along the way we stopped for your everyday super-critical moth rescue.

Operation Save the Moth
You can easily see the double stitched seams on the shirt. Nice!
A little moth was injured and my son with his big, very soft heart took about 20 minutes getting it safely to grass so it wouldn't burn up on the pavement. I stood on road (driveway) duty so my son wouldn't be in danger. ;)

Operation save the moth was a success.
The moth was successfully placed in the grass
just beyond the mulch you see here.
The mission was a very big deal, with the moth successfully (finally) getting his resting place in the grass. I didn't tell my son the moth had little chance to live regardless (it's wing was hurt), I just let him do his thing. His intentions were good and he was determined, so I just let it be.

We went inside, got him fed and then we were ready to get some Memorial Day activities up and running. That's what we're about to do now. I know he'll be comfy in his new FabKids outfit, and he'll be styling too.

FabKids Classic Straight Denim Pants

FabKids is a wonderful monthly subscription service where you receive an outfit for your child each and every month, and its delivered right to your front door. How does it work? There is a due date each month to buy an outfit. If you decide NOT to get an outfit for the month, you opt out by that date and you're fine. If you DO want the outfit, do nothing, your account will be charged one outfit credit, and then at your convenience, you can pick and choose which outfit you would like to have delivered. It's as simple as that...

If you find other items you'd like, you're welcome to buy any item(s) you like, at any time, and with the good sales and discounts always going on in one form or another, it's highly likely you'll want to do some FabKids shopping pretty regularly. Right now they're having a Buy One Outfit Get One Free sale that's hard to beat.

We've had our FabKids subscription for quite awhile now and we always love it, every single time. From experience, I can tell you that the clothes last a long time, they're very durable, and they wash up nicely. I highly recommend this subscription service to anyone with kids.

You can learn more about FabKids by visiting their website. You can also follow them on Facebook and/or Twitter.

Time Out

Due to a family emergency, the blog is on hold for awhile. I will do my best to get back and approve the comments. Because I sometimes get spam (yeah, some of you have seen that crazy person that spams a bunch of us regularly) I've put comment moderation on.

I hope to be back soon. Thank you for understanding.

Balancing Your Summer Footwear

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Designers have made it easier for you to find footwear that is both stylish and supportive. It's up to you to assess the summer activities that you and your family engage in and to have the appropriate selections in your shoe collection.

Family Fun

Many families enjoy outdoor activities together during the warm months of the year. Those activities might include daily walks, hiking or bike riding as a family. For these adventures, it's important that everyone have shoes that offer protection and support.

Flip flops are popular in the summer. While they are not appropriate for the previously mentioned activities, they can be a part of your summer footwear collection. Experts advise against wearing flip flops on a frequent basis due to their lack of support and the absence of protection they provide for your foot. However, they can be a fun summer time accessory when you're at the pool, the beach or at a patio party.

Exercise

It's helpful to have a resource such as SneakerKing.com to rely on for finding footwear that is appropriate for the type of exercise routine you follow any time of the year. Before selecting a shoe, take time to read the full description of the features it has. Arch support and heel support features should coincide with your personal need. Exterior material and interior lining, insole and midsole support and the specific design of the shoe are features to consider when selecting an exercise shoe.

Casual footwear

Casual wear and summer time go hand in hand. Clothing and wardrobe accessories tend to feature bright, exciting colors. Your footwear can be as stylish and colorful as you want it to be. Sneakers for men, women and children are available in a variety of colors. These are perfect for those leisurely summer weekends. If sneakers aren't your style, sandals might be your choice. There's certainly no shortage of sandal styles for men, women and children. Just be sure you reserve your sandals for indoor wear and for shopping or dining out activities rather than for outdoor adventures.

With the extensive selection of summer footwear that is available, you can easily find shoes that are safe and supportive for exercise and outdoor adventures as well as sandals and sneakers for fun, casual summertime events. Be sure to balance out your shoe collection so that you have shoes that match your activity.

Kidliga Portion Control Dinnerware

Disclosure: I received a sample product to help facilitate the review. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Kidliga portion control dinnerware is amazing for helping to teach the kids the right amounts of each food group they should have in their dishes. With cute, colorful designs, the little circles you see in the picture above depict what food group should be in each spot, and approximately how much of it should be too, for a child-sized serving.

Each set (blue or pink) comes with a Sammie & Sax book. I had to laugh when I saw the title, "Sammie & Sax in the Land of Quinoa." My granddaughter is only 2-years-old and she just loves quinoa. In fact, it was one of her first words. So while the dishes will stay here (they are porcelain), and in spite of the fact that we like quinoa too, I have to give the book to her. :)

My son loves his new three-piece set because he thinks it's cool. I love it because it helps reiterate to him the importance of proper portion control. Those of you who have seen him know he's a little beanpole, so it's not an obesity measure (though this would be great for that!!), but he does tend to want to load up on what he loves, and take miniscule amounts of what he doesn't, at the dinner table. That is no longer acceptable with the portion control plates, but they're so fun he doesn't grouch about it. He likes dishing out the right amounts in the right spots. :)

I like the Kidlinga set. Be sure to check out their website if you want to purchase a set for your home. You will also find family-friendly recipes, coloring pages, and more over there too. And be sure to visit their Facebook and/or Twitter.

What do you do to ensure proper portion control with the kids?

Enter to #Win a Paper Punk 3D Paper Kit!

Disclosure: I received a product to help facilitate the review. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

According to their website, "Paper Punk is an innovative paper-based building toy that provides endless imaginative and creative play..."

That is true, and it's true for people of all ages. And it's easy too! To put it together, you simply pop out the pieces and fold them as directed. This will turn your 2D flat shapes into 3D geometric pieces that you put together to create your Paper Punk masterpiece!

My son and I recently tackled two of the projects. The first was Bot001. Bot came with a sturdy cardboard, reusable folder. He also came with 18 punch-and-build shapes, 170 stickers for personalization, instructions, and adhesive dots. The sticky dots hold all of the pieces together.

Putting the pieces together was a great way to spend time together, and it served well to help encourage my son to think, see the efforts of trial-and-error, and have a great sense of satisfaction when he got the job done.

And get the job done, he did! Here you see the PaperPunk robot almost finished.

It just needed some fine-tuning to the finished product...which in our case meant sticker decorations. you can see the 'H' he put on to start writing on the robot. He also put eyes and a mouth on him too.

When we were finished, my son was so proud of his Paper Punk creation, that he asked to display it on the bookshelves in the room. No problem! I was happy he invested his time and efforts in putting something together that turned out so cute.

We liked building Bot001 so much, that the next day we set about to make the other kit we were sent, which was Fang. Fang is a snake, and you can make him to be mean or nice. Ours is very nice. ;)

And he's got a spot on the shelf next to Bot. ;)

Because they do not require scissors or glue, they're easy to take out, easy to clean up, and they allow for open play without a lot of mess to clean up when you're finished. That means they're not only great for home, but they'd be great for travel/on-the-road-time. They don't take up a lot of room, you can make them in the car, airplane, or even RV. Of course, you could use them at home too, like we did. I'm just saying...what a fun way these would be to pass them time, if you were traveling.

These would also be fun to make at grandma's house too. I know my son's grandparents would get a kick out of seeing him so studious and involved in creating his Paper Punk project.

These kits can be purchased on the Paper Punk website, on Amazon, and in specialty stores nationwide.

You can learn more about Paper Punk by visiting their website.  You can also follow them on Facebook and/or Twitter.

One winner gets to choose from one of (8) kits to call their own (Pup, Kitty, Ape, Bot, Fang, Horn, Ride, or Sweet). US entrants only.

Baby Banz for Swimming!

Disclosure: I received a product in exchange for the post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

When you use a rashguard for your child, do you purchase long-sleeves or short-sleeves? I've always, until now, selected the short-sleeves, thinking the longer length ones might be too hot. Well, I'm here to tell you that's not so! The long-sleeve rashguard from BabyBanz is as comfy as the short-sleeve shirt, and you get more protection. There's no need to expose your little one's skin to the sun for prolonged periods of time, and if it's this easy (and stylish) not to... I say why wouldn't you have this kind of shirt for sun and swimming?

Baby Banz Rash Guard Shirts come in a variety of colors and styles.

With a UPF 50+ rating, these shirts are amazing for protection. Add the matching board shorts and you've just got a really cute set! Designed originally in Australia, this line of swimwear knows a thing or two about being out in the elements. The material on the shirt is 82% Polyamide and 18% Spandex. It provides a loose fit for comfort and it dries rather quickly!

The Baby Banz Board Shorts, like the shirts, have a UPF 50+ Rating

The board shorts also have a UPF 50+ rating. They are made of polyester and they have a mesh lining. There's a handy pocket on the side for your little one to keep something small (like spare change for sno-cones at the pool!).

I think the swimwear line is stylish and cute. You can learn more about BabyBanz by visiting the website. There you'll find all kinds of cool and very useful things for your little ones on the move, outside, or on the go. You can also follow along on Facebook and/or Twitter.

Never Iron Again? Downy Wrinkle Releaser

Disclosure: I received sample items in exchange for the post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

It's not a secret that I like to pack a suitcase, get on a plane and go most anywhere. Lucky for me, everyone else in the house does too. But travel almost always requires at least one visit to somewhere that calls for a nice outfit. That means while on vacation, you're busting out the hotel iron, trying to figure out how to set up their ironing board, while juggling the iron that is now getting hot. It also means you have to worry about rust spots (anyone besides me ever encounter rust spots from using a hotel iron???), or other unforeseen mishaps.

Not anymore! Downy Wrinkle Releaser Plus is an amazing new product that lets you ditch the iron when you travel. It's easy enough to use too, simply tug, smooth and spray...and watch the wrinkles instantly fade away. And it's by Downy! What's not to love about this, right?

I tried it on a satin blouse, a cotton button down shirt (thicker material), and the drape. Don't judge, I have a wrinkle that won't come out of my drape. It worked like a charm on the clothing, no comment on the drape, hahaha. That's okay though, it's meant for clothing, but now my drapes smell good. ;)

A pleasant scent, an affordable price, and an effective product. I'm really loving the new Downy Wrinkle Releaser. Comes in various sizes, including travel!.

Learn more by visiting the website, where you will also find a $1 off product coupon (limited time only). You can also follow along on Facebook and/or Twitter. Be sure to watch for Downy Wrinkle Releaser on Target's Cartwheel.

Mary Square has Such Cute Items! with #Giveaway

Disclosure: I received a product to help facilitate the review. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

My mom has a big day coming up and I wanted to get her something special that I knew she would love. Looking around the Mary Square website, I found so many wonderful and very cute ideas!!

So who is Mary Square? They are a faith-based company with a mission to help single moms-to-be learn to come to grips with what is happening and support them in various ways while they learn to do so. Through their mission to Embrace Grace, they are helping a countless number of people in a great many ways. I've seen young girls going through this, and reaching out to help them is a cause worth supporting.

Mary Square also offers a website that sells so many cute things!! They have tumblers, mugs, stationery, totes, personalized gifts, etc. All are designed to stand out in being feminine and pretty. I chose a Bible Cover for my mom. I know she'll be glad to have it, and I'm happy to be able to give it to her. With a rich blue and gold design, and the classy gold M monogram, this item is a real show stopper.

The quality of the Bible cover is top-notch. It has a sturdy no-catch zipper and a gold lining. There is a dangling gold cross on the zipper pull and a handle for easy carrying. It's a snazzy way for her to take care of one of her most prized possessions, and I just love it.

This is just one of many, many things on their website. Poke around some and see what else there is that you might like. This is a great site to find something to spoil yourself with a bit, but it's also a great site if you're looking for a unique gift idea. Apparel n Bags High Quality at a Discount

Disclosure: I received a product to help facilitate the review. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Apparel n Bags is a great online store! Why are they great? Because they have high quality items at a VERY reasonable price.

We received this great Port Authority BG118 Tote Cooler in black. It is generously sized at 17.5 x 16 x 7.5". I like it because while it looks like a tote, it is instead a cooler. It's made of a really strong type of polyester material, with the liner being a cooler, so you can load it right up with all the drinks you need to take on a picnic, to the park, etc. It makes it really easy to carry a picnic on the go too, and that's fun if it's just a romantic date, or a playdate out with the kids. I was thinking this bag would even be a great  place to put your lunch and drinks for the work day.

The top has a handy zipper so you don't have to worry about things falling out, and there's even a sturdy nylon double handle.

This cooler tote comes in black or blue. I chose black because it's neutral and goes with everything.

Take a look at the Apparel n Bags website to see the many great items they have available. They certainly have something for your every need, and with just a look or two, you're sure to find an item or two that you love or need.

You can also follow along on Facebook and/or Twitter.

Zarbee's Supplement (in a Powder!)

Disclosure: I received product samples to help facilitate the review. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Most people take their supplements in the form of a pill, or perhaps even by gummy. What if you could mix it in a drink and take it? Would you be interested?

Zarbee's has a line of powdered packets that you put right into your liquids, so you can drink your supplements instead of having to take a pill. You can drink them hot, like the Zarbee's Naturals Antioxidant Support with Honey. This goes well with tea, but you can put it in any hot liquid you'd like, including water.

This blend is full of handpicked ingredients, including a special blend of honeys, matcha green tea leaves, and cranberry and apple extracts. It is a vitamin-enhanced blend designed to give you all of the antioxidants you need in a day.

Or you can drink them cold, such as is the case with their Natural Orange Flavor Multivitamin with Prebiotic supplement packets.

The prebiotic is jam-packed with vitamins for your overall health, and it has a Prebiotic digestive aid in it as well. It is a great way to get 100% recommended daily values of vitamins A, C, D, E, B1, B2, Niacin, B6, folate, B12, and Biotin. And I'm a citrus lover, so to me it tastes great too.

I like the fact that you can get a nice big glass of water, mix this in and fill it to the brim with ice cubes. A refreshing cold drink that's full of good-for-you too? Yeah, that's a win-win.

If either of these products, or products that are similar, are of interest to you, head on over to the Zarbee's website to learn more. You can also follow them on Facebook and/or Twitter.

I'm just curious, is a powder packet a form of supplement you would be interested in trying?

Going Kobo Glo for 7 Days: My Reading Challenge #KoboGloHD

Disclosure: I am part of the PTPA Brand Ambassador Program with Kobo and I received compensation as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on the blog are genuine and my own.

I was recently given a challenge. Rarely one to balk once the gauntlet is thrown, I said I was all-in. What the challenge entailed was reading only on the Kobo Glo HD for 7 entire days. Nothing else. No hard cover books, what-so-ever. I'm a big reader, especially at night, so I knew going in that it would be a real challenge, but I also knew I could do it. Plus, I was curious to see how the Kobo Glo HD would fare in comparison to my real books. And you know what, there were perks! One of the biggest perks was I read more. The Kobo Glo makes it so easy to take books with you on the go. Simply slip the small tablet into your purse and go. Then when you're waiting in the pick-up line at school, at the doctor's office, or even in a long line at the pharmacy or grocery store, you can take out your Kobo Glo HD and read. And read I did...

The app, which can be found at the following link, https://www.kobo.com/apps  is available on iOS, Android, Blackberry 10, Windows 8 Phone, or desk top computer!

Downloading it (the app), is a piece of cake, and once you do, you've got a huge assortment of books available right at your fingertips. No lugging around books that are hard to store, hold, and read while on the go, instead you've got a streamlined device that holds it all for you and is light as a feather to carry too.

With the Kobo Glo HD you're going to find a comfortable to hold, 6" HD Carta E Ink touchscreen that is crystal clear. You're also going to find a fully adjustable ComfortLight and options galore at your fingertips. Adjust your fonts, adjust your margins, and even re-do the sizing to suit your personal tastes. I love the light because that means I can read at night without having to turn the light on! No one has to be bothered and I get to indulge in a book. That's nice!

You can store up to 3,000 ebooks on your reader and the battery lasts up to 2 months. That means you can sit and read, and read, and read without having to worry about plugging in.

The WiFi on the tablet gives you instant access to millions of reading selections in the Kobo online store.

How about you? Are you a traditionalist when it comes to reading? Do you prefer the book to the tablets? If so, I encourage you to try the app. I think you'll find that once you do, like me, you'll see there are a lot of perks to be found in being able to carry your books on the go.

Does this mean I'm one step closer to ditching hard copy books? No, never! But it does mean I've found an equally pleasing way to get my reading done, and more of it.

I like the Kobo Glo HD, and I'm not the only one who likes it either. You can see from the picture above that Mr. Reader has his eyes (and hands ;) ) on my device too. Luckily, I love him and am happy to share. :)

Little Scholar Tablet with #Giveaway

Disclosure: I received samples to help facilitate the review. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Little Scholar launched in 2014 to rave reviews from media and consumers alike. It is jam-packed with lessons based on each of the “core curriculum” subjects for preschoolers, kindergartners, and first graders including math, reading, spelling, logic, creativity, and geography.

Think of the fun your child could have with this Little Scholar Tablet for kids! With over 30 years of experience in the educational products industry, Grand Rapids based School Zone, the company that’s brought you those award winning educational workbooks for decades, has taken so much of their wonderful content and created this really nice tablet for kids.

Every Little Scholar Tablet comes with a complimentary
textured rubber bumper.

When you open the package, you're going to get the tablet itself. The Little Scholar dog will greet you on a bright, cheerfully colored (there are several colors available) rubber bumper. The bumper is textured, making it easy for little hands to grip. The tablet has two convenient charging options, so you'll also find a 5-foot DC power cord, and a USB cord. A fully charged battery has an 8-hour life.

The tablet fits in there just right (shown on the right).
The mesh pocket on the left is great for accessories.

If you will be taking the tablet on the go, it is probably a good idea to purchase the case pictured too. The case is molded on the inside for protection. It also has two pockets, one for the tablet itself, and a mesh pocket for things like little the optional books, kid-safe earbuds, a stylus, etc. It zips closed for further protection and comes with sturdy dual handles on the top for easy carrying.

Here you can see the size of the tablet.
The colorful, protective bumper is included with the pad.

The tablet has an 8" screen and it comes ready to play with, right out of the box. You can use WiFi or skip it. It runs on the Google Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system. Though it's already loaded with carefully selected learning apps, you can also purchase additional apps if you'd like through either the School Zone Market or the Amazon App Store.

This tablet has more ports than MINE!

The tablet has both a front and rear facing camera, and a built-in mono speaker. You can see in the picture above that there are various ports to be used. They include a 3.5mm earphone jack, charging ports, and a slot for the Micro SD card (compatible up to 32 GB). The tablet also comes with 8GB of internal storage. This tablet is designed for children aged pre-K through 1st grade.

After a hugely successful run last year with Little Scholar at ToysRUs, the new and improved tablet features the below:

You can purchase this in the online store, or at a Meijer store near you!

One of several new plush friends added to the store.
This is Socrates.

There are other items you can get on the School Zone website too. They have a new line of plush animals, including Socrates the Owl (seen above). Our youngest son is a big fan of stuffed animals, no scratch that...he's a huge fan of stuffed animals, so he was more than happy to introduce Socrates to his new (stuffed animal) family.

They also have the large variety of workbooks for different age groups, that you already know and love,

These interactive flash cards come with a flashlight.
Project the stencils on the wall for extra learning fun.
and some great flashcards, including an interactive set. Inside of the box with these stencil cards is a flashlight.

We were having a little fun, playing with the shadow stencils.
The distance you hold the flashlight from the card determines the size of the image.

Turn the lights off and project the stencil images on the wall. Talk about fun learning! What kid isn't going to love to play with this set?

There are other items to see too, and I hope you'll check out the Little Scholar website. You can also follow them on Facebook and/or Twitter.

One lucky winner is going to get a Little Scholar Tablet!! US entrants only.
