I've got six Christmas stocking to add finishing touches to this weekend. Those stockings belong to my four kids, my daughter-in-law and my granddaughter. I've got about $20 left in my Christmas budget (my first year to use a budget for shopping, I'm so proud of myself :) ), and I want the items in the stockings to be special in one way or another. In order to make my buck stretch further than it might in most places, I'm headed to Dollar General.
I know that Dollar General will have the traditional candy my oldest three have come to know and love, and my youngest too.
For the oldest I will be picking up some chocolate covered pretzels. He doesn't eat them often, but on the holidays, those are a must-have, and I'll definitely be bringing these home. These cost $4.
The second oldest loves the Ferrero Chocolates so I always put those in his Christmas stocking. Dollar General sells a 15-pack of these, with three flavors for just $6.
My third-oldest and my youngest love Hershey Kisses. They like them in their stockings, and they like to use them to make holiday cookies (which we will also be doing this weekend). The bag of Kisses you see above are $2.95.

Dollar General website.
AND speaking of cookies, did you know Dollar General offers some pretty tasty recipes on their website? I did not know that until just now, but when I was poking around I came across this delicious variation of a standard favorite: Double Chocolate Kisses Cookie Recipe
And my sweet baby granddaughter is getting oh so independent, so for her the cute Sippy Cup by Nuby will be just the right finishing touch for her holiday stocking. This item costs $3.25.
The grand total for all of the above? $19.70. Yep, I can make everyone in the family happy for under twenty bucks. What's not to love about that? Visit the Dollar General online (everything can be shipped too) or head on in to the store to find great deals in person. You can also follow Dollar General on Facebook and/or Twitter.
