Wordless Wednesday: School Pics

They take pictures twice a year in the schools here. I wasn't going to buy Spring pics, and so I sent my youngest to school in just regular clothes.  This came back and I was so happy, I ended up buying some anyway, lol. They're sneaky smart in the Spring and just send the pics home...telling you to return what you don't want to buy.

Doesn't he look so grown up? WHERE OH WHERE is the time going?????
That's what I want to know.

He looks relaxed and natural - must've been the regular clothes.
And that is sneaky to just send home the photos.

He's such a charmer. How can you resist?

Sandee said...

I love your new look. Blue is a very nice color.

He is very photogenic by the way.

Have a fabulous day. ☺

mail4rosey said...

Thanks, Sandee. Little man picked it out. I gave him free reign on the templates, he loved seeing the changes...easy way to make him happy and help him be involved too, w/something mom likes to do (the blog). :)

I like your new background, Rosie:)

Wow. I'm shocked at how far school pics have come (in general). I think you and I are of an age, so you know that our school pics were head shots against that ole blue background. B-o-r-i-n-g. Pics are now refreshing and exciting and don't even look like "school pictures." BTW, your son is growing up and is just adorable in this shot. He's becoming a handsome young man!

I totally didn't buy the spring pics, but instead I scanned the 8 x 10 in and printed off my own printer. I thank my neighbor for giving me that idea. Love your little guy's pic though and could see why you bought it ;)

Lisa @ Two Bears Farm said...

It always makes me mad when they send the pictures already printed. I think about all the waste! They cost a fortune, so I don't buy them, because by the time I bought for 3 boys, I'd spend half our grocery budget for the week.

mail4rosey said...

Thanks for both of the compliments. And yep, not a one of my school pics is worth mentioning today. Some were downright horrid, and my mom bought them anyway. ;)

Lisa @ Two Bears Farm said...

His picture is SUPER cute though :-) I can see why you'd break down ;-)

Ugochi said...

Beautiful picture Rosey. Your young man is so cute!

stevebethere said...

He looks very smart a proper little model heheh!

Stacie @ Divine Lifestyle said...

Ah. The old "just send them back" tactic. I've bought many a school picture package because of that!

Melissa Pezza said...

I would have bought those pictures, too. He looks so handsome!

Masshole Mommy said...

How neat that they take pictures twice. I have never heard of that before. His pictures came out GREAT. He is getting so big.

Catherine Sargent said...

He is very handsome. The 2 years my son was in public school before we started homeschooling I always bought the pictures.

Jen said...

I love this! Such a handsome boy.

Aimee Fauci said...

No need to dress him up, he looks great! The background and his clothes work perfectly together.

Pam said...

He is such a little cutie! And he is so much bigger than when I first started reading your blog. I can't believe he looks so grown up.

Kristen Campbell said...

This is a fantastic school pictures! Apparently, school pictures are not what they used to be LOL

Amanda Love said...

hahaha your school sounds just like my kids. They do the same thing but I think that they did an amazing job with those photos, how could you not resist buying a few :)

Christina Bhattacharya said...

Why did they ever start doing school pics twice a year? I think that once is enough. But this is such a cute picture.

jaime said...

I'm confused by the two-a-year school photos, but this one turned out great. I can see why you wouldn't want to send it back!

(Terry) My Journey With Candida said...

Well those old clothes look great with the picture. He looks like he is going to get up and head into the woods at any time.

Elephant's Child said...

He looks gorgeous. Sneaky of the school to just send them home. I suspect they spend a lot of time chasing up the missing money though...

MikiHope said...

Outside pictures? How can you resist buying some of those. He does look so grown up!

Pam said...

I agree that once is enough, but when I taught school they did photos twice a year to show how the students had grown over the year.

Launna said...

Oh my goodness Rosie, he is so cute and grown up ♡ ...

I wonder that about Valentina, she will be 12 in a little over a week and starting grade 7 in the Fall... time sure flies...

Scott said...

Twice a year here also. And expensive! I don't remember them costing this much before!

Chatty Crone said...

He is handsome and they are sneaky - who wants their kids photos trashed. You will enjoy in years to come...

Susan Kane said...

Those photo shops are amazing! Of course you should buy them! You will never forgive yourself if you don't.

Jeanine said...

So handsome! I love the background. I would for sure buy some up, for sure! I can't say no to photos of my kids no matter what they look like! So you can imagine how many photos I have!

Crystal said...

I really like being able to see the pictures before I decide to buy them. It's hard to tell the kiddos that you don't want a zillion 8 x 10's of them though! Your sweet boy's photos turned out just perfect so I'm sure you'll need all of the copies.

Jacquelineand.... said...

Such a handsome young man; I'd have bought dozens!

Lena B said...

I am actually upset. My son was out on the picture day and I was waiting for the re-take day. NSL. No pictures for me

Lisa Ladrido said...

Yes they are sneaky, but he looks adorable. You will be glad you have these later down the road!

Julie's Lifestyle said...

Hi Rosey, what a lovely school photo of you son!

Pat Hatt said...

He sure looks comfortable taking that pic, had to be the normal clothes, no getting dressed up haha and time sure does fly

jyonash said...

That is a great photo! I never buy school pics...but they do make it hard when they send them home!

Pam@IW said...

What a great photo and an adorable little guy. I would not be able to resist buying them.

Marcie W. said...

What a cute little sweetheart! I appreciate that you can view the photos before you buy them but the twice a year thing is a bit much.

Demetra Overton said...

They take school pictures twice a year here too. I usually let the kids pick their own outfits for the second picture,

Marie Moody said...

Now that is one fine looking young man, and I bet well behaved too. Now I have this granddaughter about his age, and very pretty and smart too... we could like introduce them..... ~HEHEHE~ Whatcha think?

Debra Rutt said...

So handsome. My daughter's school does photos twice a year in fall & spring. I always see such changes in my daughter - she's growing up quick.

Chrysa Duran said...

Such a cutie! I bet he is a lot of fun and loving kid. It seems like the norm are photos 2 times a school year, now. It is amazing at how fast they grow up.

Maria said...

what a great picture!! he is so cute! haha, that is pretty sneaky - sending them home with them, tempting you to buy! definitely worth it! love the picture!
i hope your may is off to a great start, rosey! xoxox

Lalia Frolick said...

Your son is adorable! I love the background, too. Whoever the photographer was did a FAR better job than any of the ones that were hired to do my school photos as a kid. The school either had a great budget, or got really lucky! Lovely thing for him to have to look back on one day.

Carly said...

Your son is adorable! I've never heard of a school doing pictures twice a year - when I was in school we never did that!

This is a great photo and they turned out great. This reminds me that I need to get some new family photos.

Rory Bore said...

great picture - what a handsome young man!
and yes, that is very sneaky -- but, I guess it ended well in this case.

Kristi Maloney said...

Awesome picture of your son. They do a great job. If my son's came out that way, I would have bought some too. Ironically, Ryan was making the goofiest face in his spring photo and Grant actually wrote back to the photography company and complained that they didn't bother to do a retake. It was THAT bad! What a great idea for a fun post - the other side of the coin so to speak..... he he he

Rebecca Bryant said...

wow what a handsome young man. they grow so fast it seems.

Czjai Reyes-Ocampo said...

I can see why you ended up buying it, I would have done the same thing. He looks adorable and I have to admit that they did a good job with the simple yet very nice set-up.

And yes, he does look very grown-up, time does fly...

That IS sneaky! Well-played, school. Well-played.

They know how to make parent's heart melt...sob sob.
I am sure you went ahead and bought it...call it emotional blackmailing but, sure worth all the $$$ :)

Always a pleasure to have you on board, Rosey

This is a great photo. Our school does the same thing and sends home all the photos. It is to hard to resist buying them when they are in your hand.

Kenya G. Johnson @ KenyaGJohnson.com said...

Same here! I thought it was a makeup picture day. Though I didn't buy the ones from earlier in the school year. So yeah some big packet came home. Christopher had on a lego shirt and jeans and his orange and green sneakers by Lebron James. So he said he thought we should buy them so that we could have a memory of his sneakers. I bought one sheet, the one where it's a three picture collage.

Little man looks handsome. I guess it really is more natural if they aren't dressed up. I can see how you were suckered to buy. ;-)

Megan Chamberlin said...

Very handsome young man you have there! Our four year old finally started cooperating for pictures - before this year, he'd refuse to sit for them.

Karen Dawkins said...

I take so many photos, I really don't want to like the spring ones. Isn't once a year enough???? But, it's hard to say no! He's a cutie. :)
