Going Kobo Glo for 7 Days: My Reading Challenge #KoboGloHD

Disclosure: I am part of the PTPA Brand Ambassador Program with Kobo and I received compensation as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on the blog are genuine and my own.

I was recently given a challenge. Rarely one to balk once the gauntlet is thrown, I said I was all-in. What the challenge entailed was reading only on the Kobo Glo HD for 7 entire days. Nothing else. No hard cover books, what-so-ever. I'm a big reader, especially at night, so I knew going in that it would be a real challenge, but I also knew I could do it. Plus, I was curious to see how the Kobo Glo HD would fare in comparison to my real books. And you know what, there were perks! One of the biggest perks was I read more. The Kobo Glo makes it so easy to take books with you on the go. Simply slip the small tablet into your purse and go. Then when you're waiting in the pick-up line at school, at the doctor's office, or even in a long line at the pharmacy or grocery store, you can take out your Kobo Glo HD and read. And read I did...

The app, which can be found at the following link, https://www.kobo.com/apps  is available on iOS, Android, Blackberry 10, Windows 8 Phone, or desk top computer!

Downloading it (the app), is a piece of cake, and once you do, you've got a huge assortment of books available right at your fingertips. No lugging around books that are hard to store, hold, and read while on the go, instead you've got a streamlined device that holds it all for you and is light as a feather to carry too.

With the Kobo Glo HD you're going to find a comfortable to hold, 6" HD Carta E Ink touchscreen that is crystal clear. You're also going to find a fully adjustable ComfortLight and options galore at your fingertips. Adjust your fonts, adjust your margins, and even re-do the sizing to suit your personal tastes. I love the light because that means I can read at night without having to turn the light on! No one has to be bothered and I get to indulge in a book. That's nice!

You can store up to 3,000 ebooks on your reader and the battery lasts up to 2 months. That means you can sit and read, and read, and read without having to worry about plugging in.

The WiFi on the tablet gives you instant access to millions of reading selections in the Kobo online store.

How about you? Are you a traditionalist when it comes to reading? Do you prefer the book to the tablets? If so, I encourage you to try the app. I think you'll find that once you do, like me, you'll see there are a lot of perks to be found in being able to carry your books on the go.

Does this mean I'm one step closer to ditching hard copy books? No, never! But it does mean I've found an equally pleasing way to get my reading done, and more of it.

I like the Kobo Glo HD, and I'm not the only one who likes it either. You can see from the picture above that Mr. Reader has his eyes (and hands ;) ) on my device too. Luckily, I love him and am happy to share. :)

  1. Hubby loves his ereader. I've not taken the plunge yet. I'm sure I will at some point. I know that for the traveler this is the way to go.

    Your son is adorable.

    Have a fabulous day. ☺

  2. I read every single day. I don't know what I would do without books. I've been reading since I could read.

  3. I am a traditionalist. I can see the advantages to e-readers, but prefer the weight, the smell, the feel of 'real' books. And if I am looking for a specific passage, I find flipping through real books easier and quicker. My dinosaur self will weaken. Eventually.

  4. I used to be a hard core printed book only girl. Then I realized I could have an entire library on one device and save a ton of space. =D

  7. I think this sounds like an awesome tablet. Chris has a regular Kindle, but it seems so lame compared to this.

  11. I love traditional books but yup, bringing them out can be such a drag because of its weight and bulkiness. Bringing more than one out is just insane. I like that you can fit so many books inside just this one handy gadget!

  13. I think the ereader is nice. However, unless they can do more than reader books. It will only sit there in my home.
