Enter to Win TWO Games from Winning Moves Games!

Disclosure: I received samples to help facilitate the review. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

This is the face of a child entirely too delighted
to have the opportunity to squish my fish.

I really enjoy writing about products that are new to us that we end up loving!! Fish, Fish Squish, sold at Winning Moves is one such thing.  This game was SUCH a blast to play and had my son giggling start to finish.

When we got the game,  I thought it would be too 'babyish' or too young for him (he's 7-years old...practically grown, you know ;) ). Boy, was I wrong.

I'll explain.

It started out calm enough. I unpacked the game pieces, which consisted of a stack of square 'fish' cards, 4 moldable clay rolls with bags for future storage, fish molds, color-coded base cards (for your fish), and the directions.

In the game, each person playing selected a card with a border the same color as their fish would be. The clay you see in the picture above was used to create the fish.

We started out by molding our fish, which was easy enough to do. All we did was squish the clay into the molds, shape it and we were done. The end result was pretty little fish that stood up on the their tails, atop their same-colored base card.

The fish cards were then shuffled and turned upside down in rows as designated per the instructions. Each player, starting with the youngest, then took turns flipping a card. When three different colors turned up in a row (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) the player who got the trio got to squish one of his/her opponent's fish. That, my friends, is where the fun kicked in.

See the look on his face...and see the squished fish in the middle of my card? Easy enough to add 2+2 here... that child was absolutely delighted to get up out of his chair and come over to squish my fish!!! Why, I oughta...

WARNING:  Re-matches can lead to cocky looks
and 'I squished your fish' victory dances.
Believe me when I say, it ain't pretty!

He beat me the first round so I demanded a re-do. I simply could not have him running around giggling about my poor lost fishies. The second round led to more of what you see in the photos above. It wasn't pretty, folks. That smile you see displayed could only mean one thing...

To the victor go the spoils! Here he is displaying my losing card (those used to be fish).

Mama lost again. I'll tell ya the truth though, losing was never so much fun. This game was surprisingly entertaining for such a simple concept and it's definitely a game we will be playing again and again.

The boards allow for 2-4 players to participate at one time. Fish, Fish Squish is recommended for players aged 5 and up.

Tonight we'll try our hand at the Connect4 Twist & Turn Game.
I'm curious to see the new spins on the classic fave.

Tonight we'll be trying our hand at the new Connect 4 Twist & Turn Game. I'm curious to see how new ideas were spun into an old classic favorite.

You can get both games mentioned above from Winning Moves. The site is dedicated solely to games and they have a TON of selections to choose from... some old favorites and others selections that are new. I highly recommend them for fast delivery, reasonable prices, and hours of family-time gaming fun.

  59. Non-digital games are a very good way to develop a child's early pattern recognition. The need for more than one player also encourages collegiality, which is often missing in video games, and even MMORPGs - though many proponents of the industry would vehemently disagree. Thanks for sharing!
