Wordless Wednesday: Birds of a Feather

I saw this when we drove into town.
Way to make good use of dead wood (ha! the wooden birds and the dead tree). ;)

  1. The bird is cute Rosey, what a great picture xox ... I would like to see more of them here... it has been too cold but I heard it is supposed to warm up a bit... we just need to rid of the ice here... very soon I hope...

  2. My grandfather used to insist that at least one 'snag' be left standing, simply because so many creatures use them as shelter and food sources. He was a bit ahead of his time.

  3. Wow and for some reason all I could think of was Woody Woodpecker cartoon from when I was a kid ;)

  4. Hi Rosey - what a delight to see .. we sometimes get the green ones here and I love seeing them. Woodpeckers are extraordinary ... and exactly the right thing to do with dead wood .. but it looks cold, oh so cold! cheers Hilary

  12. Definitely good use of a "dead" tree. My family had a country house made entirely out of wood (probably untreated since it was so old) and I remember similar birds "eating the house" as we would say. LOL
    Very nice shot!!

  35. We had a huge pileated woodpecker on our tree once that was big enough to rival a duck. When I first looked at the picture, I thought it was real. Dang, I am a geezer.
