Wordless Wednesday: Birds of a Feather

I saw this when we drove into town.
Way to make good use of dead wood (ha! the wooden birds and the dead tree). ;)

The bird is cute Rosey, what a great picture xox ... I would like to see more of them here... it has been too cold but I heard it is supposed to warm up a bit... we just need to rid of the ice here... very soon I hope...

My grandfather used to insist that at least one 'snag' be left standing, simply because so many creatures use them as shelter and food sources. He was a bit ahead of his time.

Wow and for some reason all I could think of was Woody Woodpecker cartoon from when I was a kid ;)

Hi Rosey - what a delight to see .. we sometimes get the green ones here and I love seeing them. Woodpeckers are extraordinary ... and exactly the right thing to do with dead wood .. but it looks cold, oh so cold! cheers Hilary

Adorable! I wonder if it attracts or deters the real thing. Country art can be so cute!

Great pic.

Pat Hatt said...

haha I guess someone wanted them to knock on wood

Definitely good use of a "dead" tree. My family had a country house made entirely out of wood (probably untreated since it was so old) and I remember similar birds "eating the house" as we would say. LOL
Very nice shot!!

They're fake? That is funny!

Very clever indeed. I love it.

Not long ago we heard woodpeckers in the trees at the marina. It was ever so delightful.

Have a terrific Wordless Wednesday. ☺

What a pretty picture. I think wood peckers are hilarious. I mean, if you watch them, they just ram their heads against trees all day!

What a great use of a dead tree!! I hope they attract real birds as well!

What a great idea for using a dead tree that is normally an eye sore!

Are they fake? That is a really pretty picture either way!

They look like they are having fun up there. It's a birdie party.

We see real ones all over the place. Poor little robin redbreasts were hopping across snow last week. This week it's in the upper 50s.

I had no idea they were wooden when I first looked at them. Looks beautiful regardless.

We had a huge pileated woodpecker on our tree once that was big enough to rival a duck. When I first looked at the picture, I thought it was real. Dang, I am a geezer.

Michigan winters are gloomy. Perk: When the time the sun finally rolls around for warmer weather, we're so so so grateful to see it. :)

mail4rosey said...

You got that right. We had a real one at our place for awhile and that was no fun at all.

Marie Moody said...

We have one close by that I hear every summer. Ahhhh Summer! Cannot wait, but at least Spring is just around the corner. Woo Hoo! Ahhhhh Spring. Cannot wait! Thanks for sharing.

We heard one outside at our house a few times recently... but it was far enough away that we couldn't really see it.
