When you find something good, you're oh so happy to share...and with Doctor on Demand, that is absolutely the case.
We have a pretty rural address, in a very cold state. That means our winter driving, for lack of a better phrase, is for the birds. No never mind that, even the birds are bright enough to leave for the season...but it does mean trips into town can sometimes be a hassle, especially if the weather is bad. That, however, does not prevent members of our family from getting sick, even on the coldest/harshest of winter days. With Doctor on Demand, I can speak to a doctor if I need to, from the privacy (and warmth!) of my own home, no driving required!
|You can connect via laptop, personal computer, tablet or phone!|
To use the service, you simply create an account (very fast to do), enter your credit card number (the cost of a doctor's visit is usually less than that of a typical co-pay!), and enter some personal information including your symptoms, reason for call, current medications, etc. If you are using the mobile service instead of a personal computer, simply download the iOS or android app onto your device and then enter your information as requested. It will walk you through the process, step-by-step.
|Connect to a doctor from the convenience of your home.|
When you are ready to be connected to a doctor, simple hit the connect button. You will be put on hold while they find the correct doctor for your inquiry. A status update will remain on your screen. It will let you know when you are next in line, and then update again to let you know an appropriate doctor has been located and is reviewing your file. A doctor is readily available from 7 am-11pm to answer your questions. Your call is treated professionally and with the same confidentiality you have come to expect from a face-to-face visit.
My call was in regards to my son's rough elbow patches he has been getting for the last year or so. They are not bothersome to him, but they are certainly dry and get red in color. I was wondering if that was something that might be related to his Keratosis Pilaris (a condition where harmless, mild bumps sometimes show up out of nowhere for him). Your call can be about something specific like that, or it can be a general call...such as one seeking information on immunization or the annual flu shot!
The pros of this kind of a program are plentiful, and I think it could definitely be a wonderful service to use for many things. The second thing that came to mind for me when thinking of why I would love this program (after the pro of not having to drive in inclement weather), is that you do have the availability to get a doctor's excuse! In our school district that is important because you can only have so many unexcused absences (absences without a doctor's excuse) for the entire year. Having the convenience of being able to get a doctor's excuse for the common cold or Influenza, without having to drive my sick child/ren to the actual doctor's office is a major plus for me.
Of course those are just a couple examples of ways you could use Doctors on Demand, and they are both physician-related. You can also access Lactation, Psychology, and Pediatrician options with this service.
CAUTION: If your situation is life threatening or an emergency do not use this service, but rather dial 911 to obtain an immediate service.
